AN: I don't own them. I just keep them entertained. Set before the shooting during the summer.
Max Evans clung to the shadows they way he always did. He was hiding in plain sight. It worked no one noticed him he was invisible which was what he wanted. He watched her as she cleaned up the plates left over from one of her ruder customers. The ones that were really mean to her and he wanted to deck them. She smiled as she slipped her tip in her pocket. Liz Parker had such a nice smile.
He knew she would smile at him as she passed his table and headed of to her annoying blonde friend. He would do anything to get her to smile at him the way she smiles at Kyle Valenti. Max hated Kyle. It was as simple as that. Though it wasn't because he had Liz and Max didn't it was because he wasn't a good guy. Max supposed he wasn't a good guy either if he was even a guy at all technically he was an alien.
He wasn't the only one in Roswell as cliché as that may sound. His sister and his best friend Michael were aliens as well. But they were more adjusted than he was. No one would ever suspect him for an alien or anything like that they would just think he was some sociopath sitting in corner staring at a girl and touching himself under the table. He knew people went to jail for what he was doing now but he didn't care. He'd done it a hundred times and never been caught.
But tonight is different. Liz comes to his table. "Hey Max." She says perhaps to causally proving how hard it was for her to make simple conversation with him. "Hi Liz."He managed to respond his voice was too high due to the ministrations his hand was performing under the table. "Can I get you anything else? The kitchen is closing early tonight so..." Liz let the sentence trail off into infinity. "No." Max said. "I'm just going to go." He says simply as if hen werent zipping up his pants.
"Well, I'll see you around." Liz said as he stood and slid out of the booth his jacket prevented her from seeing too much. "Yeah." Max says as he starts for the door. Only when he's outside does he finish the statement. "I'll be watching you." He whisperd into the night before starting for home.
