The only one
After the meeting with the generals, Alexander walked to the tent of the one man he thought he needed to explain him self to. Walking in he fount the man sitting on his bed lost in thought. "I need for you to understand Hephaistion." The other man didn't reply. "I...I want an heir.." The other man still said nothing. "Please," Alexander pleaded kneeling before him. "Please Hephaistion tell me you understand." "I...why her." "She has so much fire in her. She is the perfect queen. And she..." "Reminds you of your mother." Alexander shakes his head yes. "I know that I could never give you an heir and I don't begrudge you marrying her. I understand." "Thank you." Alexander stands and tries to kiss Hephaistion but he pulls away. "I thought you said you under stood." Alexander stated wanting to know why Hephaistion had pulled away. "I do understand Alexander. But I can't be content with only half of you tonight." "I understand," Alexander states standing up and turning to leave. As he nears the exit of the room he stops. "What I told you that night on the balcony in Babylon still holds true." He turns around to look at Hephaistion, "I love you Hepaistion and no other. And I trust only you. Even though I marry today you will always have my heart. Believe that." Hephaistion looks up at Alexander tears in his eyes. "Will you still love me when you have a son." "I will always love you, nothing will ever change that." Hephaistion walks up to Alexander and kisses him. "I hope she makes you happy. I support any decision you decide to make."
Later that night after the wedding celebration Hephaistion met Alexander in his room. He took out a small cloth with a ring in it. "I fount this when we were in Egypt. The man who sold it to me said it was from a time when me worshiped the sun and stars....I'll always think of you as the sun," he says as he places the ring on Alexanders finger. "And I pray your dream shines on all men." Alexander looks Hephaistion in the eyes. Alexander didn't think it was possible for him to love Hephaistion any more then he already did. But at this very moment he feltas though his heart would explode from the force of the love he felt. Then Hephaistion hugged him, " I wish you a son..........you're a great man." Pulling Hephaistion back he kissed him. Just as he released him Roxane walked in. Hephaistion looked at Roxane then at Alexander then left. Roxane and Alexander stood in an uneasy silence. "You love him," she says gesturing to where Hephaistion had just stood. "He is Hephaistion," Alexander stated as if that explained all. And to him it did. Though many shared his bed only Hephaistion had his heart.
