Anna's Story

Chapter 1- The Journey
A cloud of choking, black smoke engulfed platform nine and three quarters as the red steam train moved out of the station slowly. It moved with surprising speed, and it was not long before the people crowding the platform had disappeared completely.
A girl sat by a window on the train, sprawled across the seats, watching the heavy rain fall from the murky, grey sky and splattering hard onto the window. Her long brown hair, swept across her face, hid the expression in her deep blue eyes. She had a tall, slender figure, but there was nothing unusual about her appearance.
Her head turned suddenly as a group of people appeared at the door to the compartment. It slid open and two girls entered.
"Excuse me," one of the girls said. "Can we sit here? Only all the other seats have been taken"
" Yeah sure,"
"Oh, I'm Lily by the way. Lily Evans," said the girl who had spoken. She had wavy red hair that was pulled back, and startlingly green eyes. She moved gracefully and sat down opposite her friend who had entered the compartment with her.
"I'm Anna," the brown haired girl replied shortly, before turning to look out of the window again.
"This is Emily," Lily introduced her friend.
"Hi," replied Anna.
"I haven't seen you around Hogwarts before! Are you new or something? How old are you?" Emily asked.
Anna gave her a blank stare before answering, "I haven't been to Hogwarts before. This is my first year. I'm sixteen."
"Wow," said Lily. "Where did you go before? Did you go to a foreign school?"
"Yes, I went to Durmstrang before, then I moved here."
"Great, What house do you reckon you'll be in? We're both in Gryffindor!" Said Lily, happily.
Before she could answer, a blonde haired girl appeared at the door.
"Lily, Emily, your needed at the front of the train. Prefect's duties or something." She said.
"Well, it was great to meet you Anna, see you later!" Said Lily and Emily as they left the compartment swinging the door shut.
Anna sighed and leant back against the seat and turned to look out of the window at the rolling hills and fields whizz by.
Further down the train, the occupants of one compartment lay sprawled across the seats; their school robes lay scattered on the floor. They had been in the process of putting them on but had somehow got distracted.
"I can't believe you did that, Sirius!" Said a fair-haired boy, rolling around on the seats, shaking with laughter.
"Well, you know Remus, I just couldn't help myself," replied Sirius, in the same state. He had wavy black hair, swept across his face and dark brown eyes that were creased in laughter.
"Stop it, stop it, stop it!" Said a third boy, also with black hair that stuck up at odd angles. "I think I might have already cracked two ribs from laughing too much!"
"Hey, James?" Asked the fourth, slightly plump, blonde haired boy. "I don't get it? Why is everyone laughing?"
The other three boys then caused more confusion by proceeding to throw their school robes at him.
A knock at the compartment door, made them all sit up sharply but they were relieved to see Lily standing at the door.
"God, you frightened us Lil," said James.
"Sorry, but I've been told to tell you that we'll be arriving soon, so you'd better get dressed," she replied, before sliding the door back into place again.
"Ah," sighed James falling back into his seat. "This is going to be a good year."
