I'm Always With You…
Kairi stood in the Secret Place, idling on the old memories this cave like hole held. Just looking at the childish pictures drawn on the walls, she could almost see Sora, Riku, and herself etching on the dark stone with white chalk.
Tracing the hands that extended star shaped fruits from the faces she and Sora drew when the were little, she whispered, "Sora… when will you come home?"
"I'll come as soon as I find Riku and the King, Kairi," Came a reply that was as soft as the sand and as gentle as a breeze.
Turning around she saw him standing there, grinning one of his trademark grins that he almost always wore. His expression, his eyes told her, "Did ya miss me?"
"Sora!" Kairi cried as she wrapped her arms around him in an embrace he gladly returned. "You're really home!"
She looked in his brilliant sky blue eyes and saw the happiness and regret. His quest was not done yet. Her heart that was swelling up with joy, was slowly deflating, knowing that he wouldn't be here for long.
"Kairi," Sora said, his voice kind and gentle, but sad and worried at the same time, "I cannot stay for long. I have to still find Riku and bring him home, them we can build a raft like we planned too. Remember?"
"I remember," she smiled, "And I remember how you fell asleep on the job, while Riku and I were doing all the work." She giggled, something she had not done in a while.
"Yeah…"he grinned another goofy grin, "And remember how we used to draw all these pictures when we were little? The ones we drew of each other?" Sora looked over Kairi's shoulder and saw the arm with the paupu fruit extending from her picture, "I see you've caught on."
Kairi looked at Sora. How much he had changed. He no longer wore the mostly red outfit anymore. Instead, he wore mostly black. His large yellow shoes, were also mostly black and yellow. But he still wore the crown medallion he always wore in the good old days before the heartless and kingdom hearts. And he was still the Sora she knew and loved. He always will be.
"Kairi,"he said again, "I have to go now… Please, be stay strong, for I'll always be in you're heart… I'll come back…"
As much as she wanted to cling onto him and scream at him to stay, Kairi restrained herself. Instead, she nodded; hugging the boy she loved one last time before he would leave her again. She felt a tear roll down her cheek. Smiling sadly, Sora wiped it away with a gloved hand and wiped away his own.
Golden wisps of light started to swirl around him. He held her more tightly as his body started to fade.
"I'm always with you…"
And he was gone.
