Just a random little piece I wrote on a whim. Not intended to be slashy, but when I posted it to my fic journal, one person thought otherwise. -laughs- So it's kinda open to your interpretation.
(Fire Emblem aint mine, I'm just borrowing the characters for a while.)

"She turned me down, Sain. She's in love with someone else," Kent said quietly.
"...Oh..." Sain looked down. "...I'm sorry, Kent."
"No, I'm the one who should be sorry. All the time you spent helping me didn't even pay off," Kent muttered.
"Pay off?!" Sain scoffed. "Kent, I didn't do this for myself, you know!"
"Sain?"
"I did it for you. Kent, you're my best friend, and I chose to help you because I want you to be happy," Sain said.
"But...aren't you disappointed? You have feelings for Lady Lyndis as well, do you not?" Kent asked.
"Well, yes...but that doesn't matter. I put aside my feelings for her the moment I realized you were in love with her," Sain said. "And contrary to how I act and the things I say...you're more important to me than my love of women."
"...Really, Sain?"
"Of course."
Kent smiled a little.
"Thank you, Sain. You...you really are a good friend." He closed his eyes, feeling them well up with tears. "...It still stings, though," he mumbled. "I...I want Lady Lyndis to be happy with her new love, but...I can't help the way I feel."
"I know." Sain wrapped his arm around his friend's shoulders. "It's hard to love someone and watch them be with someone else...but it'll get easier," he said. "And just know I'm here for you till the end, Kent. I won't let you suffer the pain of a broken heart alone."
"Thank you, Sain." Kent leaned against the green-armored knight and closed his eyes. Sain smiled gently.
"It's what I'm here for," he said.

You might've noticed I didn't give a name or gender to the 'other person' Lyn's fallen in love with. I wanted to focus solely on Kent and Sain here, and felt mentioning other couples might jar that...so the readers can 'fill in the blank' on that one with whoever their preference is. XD;
