Petunia sat slowly. Sixteen years had passed, since Lily died; sixteen years… When she had found Harry on her doorstep, when she had read Dumbledore's letter she understood her sister was really dead. Petunia understood she would never again see her sister, never again speak to her, argue with her, scream at her…When Lily was around her she felt like she had to yell at her, she had to insult her… But despite all those fights, those insults Petunia loved Lily. Of course Petunia had been jealous of her sister ever since she knew she had to go to Hogwarts. Then, when she came home for the summer holiday, she found her sister changed. One evening, Lily had complained to everybody that there was a guy from school that wanted to go out with her, and she refused, but the guy was something like the most popular boy at school, and from this very moment Petunia has burst out in jealousy. Since that, her parents became proud of Lily, and paid her attention … Naturally, Petunia disapproved her parent's behaviour. But Petunia had never hated Lily and tonight she realised that something was broken, something that only Lily could mend…
From then, she knew her life was never going to be the same. She had never found time to tell Lily "sorry" and now it was too late. Sixteen years had passed, and she still wanted to say "sorry". Sorry for ruining her nephew's life, sorry for making him sleep under the stairs, sorry for neglecting him, sorry for not raising him like her own child, sorry for everything she had done. Oh what would she do now with all these broken things?
The day before, she picked up Harry from King's Cross. His eyes were red, and for once he barely spoke or insult Dudley like he used to. Something was changed in him. The whole day, he hadn't left his room and he hadn't even eaten, and when she had passed near his room she had heard him crying. Two hours later, she received a letter of Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Harry's school announcing her the death of Harry's godfather and explaining her everything about the Prophecy. Now, Harry had gone for the first time downstairs, maybe to check if his Owl has returned, and Petunia had profited to go in her nephew's room. There she found a photo album. When she opened it, she saw something that made her shiver. Her eyes met her sister's, and for the first time of her life Petunia Evans Dursley smiled at the sight of her sister.
