Zabuza had always imagined his death would be quick, painless. Facing the slowly clearing sky, he found it cold and lonely. The chill that slowly seeped into Zabuza's body, was Haku's parting gift to this world.

From the corner of his eye, Zabuza saw the shinobi that only an hour ago had been his enemies. He'd wanted Kakashi to finish him off, but the blond brat - Naruto? Was that his name? - had protested.

The cold spread within, making him sleepy. Zabuza closed his eyes.

When he woke up again, there was warmth.

"Haku?"

A smile. "I knew you would come."
