Ghost Story - Chapter 1: Kyoko
(Disclaimer: See prolouge)
POV: Inuyasha Takahashi

I pushed the slut I was making out with away from me. Who knew Yura could get so boring so quick? "Get out," I growled at her. "Oh but Inu baby..." she drawled in an annoying tone, pinching my ears.
I winced. Did she honestly think I liked that?! I glared at her and cracked my knuckles. She got the hint and stepped out of the car. "You're not gonna leave me out here are you?" She leaned against the window, batting her eyelashes at me.
"Catch a bus," was all I told her before starting the engine and driving off. I could hear her screaming behind me. Every night the whore I was with seemed to disappoint me in the end. I sighed. There's gotta be someone better.
I drove along the highway, wondering where to go. Miroku had taken Sango out to the movies tonight and that bastard of a half-brother of mine had taken his bitch out too.
As I drove I noticed the resturant Sesshoumaru and his date were in. Why not stop by to have a little fun? I got off the highway and parked my car behind a nearby house, that way Sesshoumaru wouldn't see.
I shoved my hands deep into my pocket as I began walking towards the resturant. I was looking at the stars up in the sky. It brought back memories of when my human mother would take me to her garden and we'd lie and watch the stars.
She was the only human who truly loved me, despite my being a hanyou. Sure there was Sango but she was like a sister and she loved that hentai, though she'd never admit it.
I had been living with my mother up to about a month ago when she had passed away. I knew she was growing old and the potion Inutaisho had given her for longer life was wearing off. During the years I had with my mother, I couldn't care less about the actions of Sesshoumaru. We hardly spoke to eachother and whenever we were in a room together you could feel the tension in the air.
He's a stuck up snob who like me, can have any bitch he wants. Inutaisho would visit mine and my mother's house to see her and try to talk to me. I remember how he'd try to get me interested in Sesshoumaru's life and Sesshoumaru in mine. He believed as brothers, we should be closer. I always thought that was stupid. We were half-brothers, not true brothers.
Inutaisho would tell me pointless things like about Sesshoumaru's girlfriend. I never paid much attention. I had assumed she was nutters to go out with that bastard. Later I heard she had been murdered by her sister. Yeah that got me interested. Sesshoumaru had obviously killed the sister.
My mother died and Inutaisho told me to stay with him. I didn't agree at first because I knew I'd have to live the rest of my life (maybe) with Sesshoumaru. Bleh.
But Inutaisho convinced me by telling me it was what my mother would have wanted. I'm always weak for things like that. I hate admiting I'm weak. I stopped walking when a small scent came to my nose.
It smelled like cherry blossoms.... I sniffed it again. The scent reminded me of my mother. She too had smelled like cherry blossoms. I followed the scent that steered me a few feet from the resturant. I was led to the employee parking lot and I was surprised what I had found.
I stood there eyeing it in silence for a few minutes. Was it a corpse? Was it an employee passed out? I blinked. The scent was coming from the body lying a few feet from me.
I took a few steps closer until I was beside it. I crouched down and inspected it closer. It was a human girl. She was wet from the rain that ended a few minutes ago. Her hair was dark and strewn about her. She was wearing jeans and a black tank top. I gently turned her over and noticed a small scar on her forehead. I felt her pulse and found she was still alive.
"Feh." I stood up. I looked around to make sure no one was watching me. I carefully picked up the girl and held her in my arms. I had no idea why I was doing this. I started walking back towards my car, plans of ruining my half-brother's night dashed away and forgotten.
I layed the girl in the back seat and got a blanket from the trunk. I surprised myself at how gentle I could be. The girl didn't stir. I went to the driver's seat and started the car. I would drive home and take care of the girl.
She could be of some use to me................
-
I tapped the pencil on my desk. It had been two hours. When the heck was this girl gonna wake up?! The human was currently sleeping on my bed. She hadn't made a sound since I found her.
Sesshoumaru had gotten home about half an hour ago. He didn't bring his girlfriend home like he usually did. Right now he was taking a bath. I heard a knock at my door.
"What is it?" I expected it to be one of our servents. "Oh Inuyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasha!!!! It's your bestest friend in the world returning from his marvelous daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate!!!" Came Miroku's singsong voice.
I sighed. He always came to my house. It made me wonder if he was moving in. Miroku opened the door and I immmediately noticed a bright red bruise on his cheek. "Nice," I smirked.
Miroku just grinned. "I guess I shouldn't have groped her while she was ordering popcorn at the concession stand." I rolled my eyes. "No really?" Miroku turned to sit on my bed and that's when he noticed the girl.
"My Inuyasha, you're never one to toy with a girl when all her clothes are still on." I threw a stapler at him. "I found her you idiot. She was unconscious---"
Miroku gasped. "Inuyasha!! You fondled a girl when she was UNCONSCIOUS?! Have you no shame???" I growled and threw my scissors at him. Miroku was lucky enough to dodge it.
"I'm telling the truth," I told him as I stood up. "I really did find her knocked out." Miroku had gone over to her bedside. "Well she looks alive... but what's that on her forehead?" I was by him in a second. I shrugged. "How should I know?"
Miroku leaned forward and lightly brushed his finger across the scar. He looked as though he was in thought. He sat back up and straight. "I believe this girl has just survived a bullet to the head." I blinked. "But she's a ningen. How could she survive that?" Miroku got off the bed. "Let's ask her when she wakes up." He looked over her again.
"She's certainly the prettiest of all the girls you've usually toyed with." I didn't say anything. I only went with female youkais. Of course you'd think they wouldn't want a thing to do with me because I'm a hanyou. They all just want me for my money but I don't give a shit for that.
I had to admit. Compared to the youkai girls, this human was much prettier. "Hey... I think she's waking up," Miroku said. I looked up.
- POV: Kagome -
I slowly shook my head. I couldn't remember what happened. Where was I? It felt like I was on a bed. A soft bed, not a cloud like that in heaven. I opened my eyes to be greeted with an unusual sight.
Leaning over me was none other than Inuyasha, the low life hanyou that was Sesshoumaru's half-brother. I was vaguely aware of the black haired boy closer to me as I stared at Inuyasha in disgust.
Why was I here? Why was he here? I turned to the boy by me. He had blue eyes and he looked human enough to me. "What am I doing here?" I asked. The boy just gave me a friendly smile.
"Well Inuyasha over there found you passed out," he said, gesturing to that thing. Inuyasha had his arms crossed over his chest, a scowl on his face but a look of interest in his gold eyes.
"What's your name, girl?" He asked roughly. I glared at him. The boy by me had given Inuyasha a small look. "Excuse him, he's a little short on manners." Inuyasha was about to complain when the boy interrupted.
"My name is Miroku and I am at your service," the boy said, slightly bowing his head. Inuyasha let out a small snort in the background. "Now what is your name, fair angel?" Miroku asked me, clasping both my hands in his, staring at me intently.
I had to admit, he was kinda freaky. I was about to say, "I'm Kagome Higurashi, Sesshoumaru's dead girlfriend," when I realized what could happen. I thought things through before I answered. Sesshoumaru could not know I was alive. I did not want him to know. Not yet at least. I was going to surprise him.
"My name is Kyoko Hirayami."
