Fighting Love

Chapter 2:

A lone vampire still fights against the Slayer. The practiced young warrior had already staked the other four of them easily and quickly.

"Come on, Slayer, I know you can do better than that," he spoke pointedly as he knocked her hand, sending her stake flying through the cool air. Her eyes widened at being disarmed that easily- that hadn't happened in a long time.

"Why don't you just shut up, Spike," she said his name like it was something bitter on her tongue as she reached for her other stake from inside her jacket. No- Angel's jacket. No! Stop! she scolded herself- she shouldn't be thinking about him- she has a boyfriend. A nice normal boyfriend- Riley. He was a sweet, normal guy, who she could be just a regular girl around… Then she was brought back to reality as the bleached vampire paused and stared intensely at her with his icy blue eyes.

"Make me," as he smirked and pressed his tongue to his teeth. Buffy growled and lunged at him, stake in hand, not even thinking- just reacting. As he stepped quickly to the side, she lashed out and grabbed his leather duster and pulled him down with her, down into the empty grave in front of them. They rolled around until Buffy finally got herself on top in the narrow hole, and prepared to punch the vampire as she had lost her stake- again. How could she keep fighting this sloppy? She knew she had to train more, but she was running out of time for Riley- her only connection to a normal life.

Buffy was knocked out of that train of thought as Spike quickly pulled her down against his chest and whispered in her ear, "Shh, Luv, someone's coming." She didn't even think about struggling, so worried that something worse was up above…

…And little did she know something much worse than whatever she was imagining was up there…
