A story about new experiences…

Is it just me or is it every time I look those enigmatic gray eyes are staring at me,

Kit thought, I probably only think that because I am always staring at her trying to catch a glimpse of those gray eyes. She probably feels me watching her.

Kit was sixteen now, about a year since hi last adventure with Nita and a lot had changed since then. For one thing, Nita was now popular and had a boyfriend; it had happened too fast for Kit to remember how or when it had happened. It was not that Kit thought that it had always been this way, he knew it had not, but now that things were this way Kit couldn't imagine it being any other way.

She has grown so much over the years, in every way possible, Kit thought as he assessed he up and down.

"Hello! Earth to Kit." Nita said, "What are you staring at?"

"Oh … uh … nothing." Kit lied quickly.

"Yeah, okay. ", Nita said skeptically.

They were sitting together in Nita's kitchen talking while Dairine tried to cook dinner.

Suddenly there was a loud bang followed by a voice mildly saying, "I guess I shouldn't have added that."

Nita and Kit turned to see Dairine leaning over a sizzling pot with the tips of her bangs, that were growing out, slightly singed.

"Dairine! What did you do?" exclaimed Nita.

"I'm not quite sure," Dairine replied, "but at least I got my hair the color I wanted it Now, how to do it to the rest of my hair."

Nita and Kit could not help it they burst out laughing.

"What are you cooking?" Kit asked.

"Ummm. Spaghetti?" Nita said.

"Is that a question?" Nita said.

Now it was Dairine's turn to burst out laughing.

"I'll get back to you on that when I'm done, in the meantime go off and do something. You'll know when I'm done."

"You don't have to tell me twice," Nita said as there was a knock on the door, "there is my lover boy now."

"See ya, " she said as she kissed Kit on the head and Dairine on the cheek, "Lover boy is taking to the city. Useful and Cute, I've got it made."

"Bye."

I even watch her as she walks. Has she always walked with such grace, such confidence? Or…or is it just me?
