Authors Note This story takes place after season 4. I'm using the episodes up to Back in Black and nothing further. It's centered on Emma and Sean. Please review.
"It's finally summer and sophomore year is officially over." Emma thought as she began to fix her hair. She had gotten her hair cut shorter and had dyed it a few shades darker, which her mother had disliked at first but had eventually gotten used to it. As she finished flipping out the ends of her hair and began to put the blow drier away, she quickly glanced at her watch. "Oh no, I'm going to be late for work."
She had gotten a job as a lifeguard at a public swimming pool with Manny. She rushed out of the bathroom in her bikini and began searching frantically for a pair of shorts and her red lifeguard top, "Now where the hell is…oh found it!" She threw it on, grabbed her lifeguard bag and rushed up the basement stairs. She jogged into the kitchen and saw her mother with the phone pressed against her ear, trying her best to listen intently, and balancing a crying Jack against her hip.
"Mom, I'm going to be late for work. I'll call you when I have a break." She kissed Jack on the top of his head and grabbed her bagel out of the toaster. Her mother put the phone down and walked into the living room, where she heard Emma yelling that she couldn't find her car keys, "Honey, their probably hanging up by the door." Emma glanced over to the door and sure enough there were her car keys. "Thanks mom." As she opened the door, she heard her mother call her name. "Em, you forgot to put on your flip flops." Emma glanced down at her feet and looked at her polished toes. "Oops. Thanks mom, again." She slipped on her flip flops and walked out the door.
Emma closed the front door and was instantly hit by a wave of heat as she left the cool comfort of her air conditioned house. She made her way over to her car, opened the door, and threw her lifeguard bag into the backseat. She put the keys into the ignition, turned the air conditioner all the way up, put her Spill Canvas cd into the player and turned it to track 7. Placing the car into reverse she backed out of her driveway and went to go pick up Manny.
So don't go worrying about me,
It's not like I think about you constantly.
So maybe I do, but that shouldn't affect you life anymore.
I knew it the moment you walked into the door.

She always thought about Sean when she listened to this song. She thought about how much she missed him, how he was doing, and if he was ever going to come back. She always used to ask Jay if he'd heard from him, but he never did. It seemed like Sean Cameron disappeared off the face of the earth. He hadn't talked to anybody, not even Ellie. And according to Jay, Ellie had moved to the states when her father came back and her mother had gotten out of rehab. It was clear that time didn't stand still for him anymore and that everybody that cared about him had moved on, all for except Emma.
As she pulled into Manny's driveway and honked the horn twice, she heard her cell phone ring. She placed the car in park, reached into her lifeguard bag and pulled out her cell phone. She looked to see who was calling and didn't recognize the number. As she went to answer the phone, Manny opened the passenger car door and threw her stuff into the backseat along with Emma's.
Emma clicked the ok button and put the phone to her to ear. "Hello?" she said. There was a long pause and nobody had answered, so she figured it was a wrong number and went to click to off button when she heard a familiar voice. "Hey Em…" Emma's eyes went wide and Manny was asking her who it was but she couldn't talk. Manny was starting to get really frustrated and yelled at her. "Emma, who's on the damn phone?" That snapped Emma out of her shocked daze. She looked at Manny and barely said it above a whisper. "It's Sean."
