Merry Christmas
By: Elwyn
Bonnie woke early. It was a habit she couldn't break. Every Christmas morning since she was four years old, she would be the first one up. Now, a sophomore in college, she still couldn't shake the habit. "Go back to sleep." Her roommate grumbled, pulling the covers over her head as Bonnie flicked on the overhead light.
"Sorry." Bonnie apologized, "I'll be out of here in just a second." She slipped into a pair of sweatpants and grabbed her mug and a packet of hot cocoa mix, and started out the door going to the kitchen. She stopped halfway out and backed up a step. There under her and her roommates small Christmas tree was a small box wrapped with a simple gold ribbon. Both she and her roommate had wrapped their presents with Scooby-Doo paper they had purchased together. And the present hadn't been there the night before when they had gone to sleep.
She picked up the present, and read the tiny inscription on the card. "Bonnie." She started to open it, but her roommates grumbling interrupted her. She flipped the light back off and slipped out into the hallway. Under the hall lights, she slid the ribbon off and opened the box. Inside was a small yet beautiful bracelet. "Oh." Bonnie breathed, sliding it onto her wrist. A small piece of paper in the bottom read "Come downstairs."
Bonnie slipped the empty box into her pocket and descended the stairs to the first floor. She saw flickering light coming from the living area, and knew someone had to have been in there to light the fire. There standing in front of the blaze was a man. Bonnie started at his feet. Expensive shoes, perfectly tailored black slacks. Her eyes kept traveling upwards to a soft black sweater. He turned, and Bonnie gasped.
"You don't look happy to see me." He said quietly, holding out a single white rose to her. Bonnie stepped closer, and took it from him, holding it to her nose, inhaling the sweet scent. "I wasn't expecting much, but perhaps a smile would have been nice."
Bonnie couldn't help herself. A slow smile spread across her face. Maybe he was using his powers on her; maybe it was just a natural feminine response. Either way…
"Why did you come?"
Damon pulled her close to him, his voice low, "If you would give me the chance Bonnie, I could give you the world." He murmured in her ear. "I could give you your hearts every desire."
Bonnie pulled back slightly. "I don't want the world." She breathed. As Damon's mouth descended on hers she whispered, "I only want you."
Damon smiled, "Merry Christmas, Bonnie." Then his lips met hers in a surprisingly tender kiss.
