Summary: A drabble of some quality time spent between Elladan and Elrohir during a winter day.
Elrohir was happily wavering between the state of wakefulness and sleep, too warm and content to leave his bed with winter's chill creeping through his balcony doors. But before he knew what hit him, a small figure came bursting into his room and threw itself onto him. And this figure, the only one who could get away with it, was his little brother, Estel.
"Ai, Estel! What is the meaning of this?"
With eager exuberant eyes, Estel quickly pulled the reluctant Elrohir towards the balcony windows. "Look! It snowing!" And indeed it has been, for the ground was already covered in inches of snow and tiny flakes of white still continued their downward descent.
"I can see that tithen pen. But why did you find that you have to wake me up so early, and not to mention so rudely?" Elrohir added silently.
"Because you and Dan are taking me out to play in the snow! I can't wait! I wanna make a snowelf, and we can have a snowball fight and..." But before Estel could continue listing everything he wanted to do, Elrohir quickly lifted Estel in his arms and led him back to his door.
"All in good time, the snow will still be there after I dress and we break our morning bread". Seeing that Estel was about to argue, he quickly added, "Yes, you have to eat first before you can go play. Why don't you go wake up Dan and tell him of the plans for today?
Knowing that there was no changing Ro's mind, Estel left his room as fast as he entered, making his way to Dan's room to tell him about the first snow.
With a soft smile, knowing that his twin was about to have as pleasant awakening as he did, Elrohir prepared for to spend the day with Estel.
"Come on!" cried Estel who was tearing across the snow-laden grounds and behind him was Elladan and Elrohir, also called Dan and Ro, following at a more leisurely pace. Eventually, Estel was able to do all the things he wanted, they built a family of three snowelves and a small snowchild, representing his adopted family. They also had a snowball fight, where Dan and Ro allowed themselves to be pelted by numerous snowballs from their little brother. But they happily repaid him in full by launching a tickle attack where they were all left laughing at out of breath, covered in snow. And all too soon in Estel's opinion, the sky began to darken and a elf came out announcing dinner would soon be served.
"It's time to go back in Estel", Dan said while brushing off the remaining snow from his cloak.
"Do we have to? Can't we stay for five more minutes? Please?" Estel begged, adding the pout that he have long perfected.
Elladan and Elrohir gave each other looks, knowing full well the tactic their little brother was trying to pull on them. But it was truly getting dark and too cold for their liking. But knowing Estel, he would not give in without a fight, Elladan quickly responded. "Are you sure you want to stay out here when we could have some nice hot chocolate and your favorite cake once we finish dinner?"
Estel then quickly thought this over. He was getting cold, if the shivers coursing through his body was any indication and hot chocolate did sound very tempting. And he could already smell the delicious aroma of cake drifting from the kitchen. Next to Estel, the twins gave each other triumphant smiles, already knowing Estel's decision. Wordlessly, they each came to one of Estel's side, held his tiny hands in theirs, and led him back home, where sweets, a warm fire, and loving family was awaiting them.
The End
A/N This is my first fanfiction that I've ever written and I'd sincerely appreciate any feedback that any of you have to offer. Obviously this isn't Pulitzer material but I try and I hope at least one of you enjoy it. Happy Holidays!
