To Everything
Isabel Night
To everything there is a season
Or so the mortals say
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to let mournful memories wilt away
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to remember those days
Those days when we were united
In more than just one way
I miss those days when we were united
Cale, Sekhmet, Anubis, and I
The laughter, the joy, and the childish games
To think of them makes my mouth go dry
The nights are getting longer
As the sun dips below the sky
The air is colder, the moon is brighter
How fast do the seasons fly?
As I look outside my window
Viewing the misty smoke curled sky
I think of a mother lighting a Hearth fire
To warm her loved ones who have come in from the outside
I wish that warmth would have some effect on me
I wish I could fill that smoke-laden sky
But all I can do is light a candle in your honor
And listen to the wind as it howls close by
Why am I so lonely?
Why do I have dull insides?
Could it be the Holiday Season?
Or could it be because my eyes aren't dry?
Is it because I feel lonely?
Alone in this season and time
A time when friends and loved ones should say welcome
But never say goodbye
THE END
End Notes-The title of this poem is taken from The Book of Ecclesiastes. If you want to know exactly where I got it, look at chapter 3, and then read verses 1 through 8.
