Ding!

The bell hanging on the door of Luke's diner rang as Rory Gilmore skipped in. Lorelei is sitting at her usual table sipping coffee. She looks up as her daughter dances in.

Lorelei: "Was that a skip?"

Rory: "Skip? I don't skip."

Lorelei: " I think i know a skip when i see it. And that was definatey a skip."

"Watever" Rory shrugged. Nothing could spoil her mood this morning. She had just written a terrific paper and she was positive that Doyle would love it.

Lorelei: "So why so skippy today Skippy?"

Rory: "You know that paper I've been struggling on?"

"You mean the paper thats kept you from stepping foot in my diner. Even for coffee," Luke says as he comes from behind the counter and fills Lorelei's cup for the third time.

Lorelei: "Oh thank you o mighty one. I shall bow down to you."

Luke rolls his eyes, but when he turns around to go back to his counter you could detect a faint smile on his raggy face.

"I didn't know you missed me!" Rory called after him.

Luke: "Well it was all your mother could talk about for four days." Again a smile appeared at the thought of Lorelei bantering on about Rory.

Lorelei: "So i supposed you finished this paper."

Rory: "Yep. And I think Doyle will really enjoy this one. It's out there and different from my usual stuff." Rory glances down at her watch. "Mom, I gotta go meet Lane."

Lorelei: "Ok, sweetie. Have fun."

Rory gets out of her seat and is careful not to skip out of the diner.

Ding!

Lorelei: "Refill!"

Luke: "Haven't you had enough for today? I have other customers who actually pay for coffee you know." But Luke still comes out from around the counter to fill Lorelei's cup. Lorelei's smiles at Luke gratefully.

If you didn't know any better you would think that Luke's facd turned a light shade of red.

As Rory walks across the street toward Lane's house she's thinking about what this paper could do for her. If Doyle really likes it she might be able to write about the big things that are usually reserved for top reporters.

Then she'd be soo good they might even be made editor next year. Then she could really make changes in the paper.

Rory: "Ow." Rory stumbled to the sidewalk.

A tall brown haired boy stood over Rory. At first Rory thought it was Dean. But soon she realized that this handsome boy had blue eyes. And as long as Rory could remeber Dean did not have blue eyes.

Strange Boy: "You should watch where you're going."

Rory: "You're the one that tripped me!" Rory was astonished at this boy's accusation. It was clear that this boy had purposely stuck his foot out as Rory was passing. Rory had been too deep in thought to notice.

Strange Boy: "Please. I have better things to do with my time than play silly little games with you." The boy abrutly walked away, leaving Rory still sitting on the sidewalk. He didn't even offer to help her up.

So rude! Rory thought as she pushed herself up off the ground. He did have pretty eyes though. Wait. What am i thinking? He was rude? Who is he anyway. Rory had never seen this strange boy before.

Does he live in Stars Hallow? Where'd he come from?
