Angel: The Story

By T. Axile

In Ireland, when night was a promise

Liam fell into the arms of a vampire

Who sired him with bite and a kiss

That burned like flaming fire.

And in the night Angelus was born

The devil with the angel's face

In dark he hunted and slept in the morn

In shadow he crept to his father's place.

He killed them; killed them all

And the slaughter was fit for demons' dreams

Obeying the darkness' call

He drank; unheeding, of the screams.

For two centuries Europe was his playground

They called him he scourge, the devil

Where he walked, both city and town

The streets ran red with blood and evil.

Then, bound by the gypsy's curse

He was returned his soul

Sweet agony, the pain was far worse

Than the one that left him cold.

For he can see their eyes

Empty hollow pleading begging

And through time his mind flies

He weeps and cries at each new killing.

Thus armored with guilt Angel goes to Sunnydale

And falls in love with Buffy the Vampire Slayer

In silence and regret he tells her his tale

And joins her in the eternal battle between good and evil.

But their love is ill-fated

For Angelus returns in his full darkness

In the night he hunts, hunger never sated

And plots to bring about the world's last hours.

And to save the world Buffy knows

She must send her beloved to Hell

Tightly to her tears she holds

As she seeks the demon fell.

Thus even as his eyes fill with his soul

She drives the sword into his chest

Sending him screaming into the Hell both hot and cold

And prays for his eternal rest.

But the Powers That Be intervene

To return him to the arms of Buffy

As time passes, they know; have seen

That their love can never be.

So Angel goes to Los Angeles, City of Angels

And forms a new family

To fight vampires and devils

To fulfill the prophecy.

Author's Ending Note: In case you have no idea, this prophecy is the one mentioned in 'Shanshu in L.A.'. The one that says Angel will someday become human. Thanks for reading this, and please review. Ta!
