Chapter 1 – New Best Buddy

Lauren waved from her window at her parents who were waving back but they soon were to far away for Lauren to see. She was going to miss them, most of Hannah.

Lauren was going to Hogwarts; eleven year old Lauren was leaving her family behind to learn magic. She couldn't even imagine how Hannah would be feeling with Lauren getting to go and her having to stay behind.

'Excuse me, can I join you?' A small girl interrupted her from her thoughts. 'Everywhere else is packed'

'Sure,' Lauren replied.

'Thanks. My name's Stephanie Yerrod, what's yours?'

'Lauren, Lauren Potter,' she blurted out.

'Are you related to the one that stopped You-know-who, are you related to Harry Potter?'

'Yes, I'm his daughter,' she said quietly and then pulled out a book and began to read.

'So what house are you hoping to be in?' Steph said and Lauren took her eyes off her book.

'I dunno, I mean my whole family has been in Gryffindor for ages.'

'I haven't got a clue which I'll be in because I'm muggle-born,' Steph said with a sigh. 'Have you got any brothers and sisters?'

'Yes, I do,' Lauren muttered. 'Hannah.'

'How old is she?'

'She's my twin.'

'Is she coming to Hogwarts too?'

'No, she's a squib. She was really upset too because ever since we were born we've been excited about going to Hogwarts but I was the only one able to go.'

'That must be hard.'

'I suppose I just have to be there for her, don't I?'

'Yeah, you do.'

For several minutes there was complete silence. Then Steph began to tell Lauren about her family.

'So who is your mother?' She asked Lauren.

'Hermione Granger or she's now Hermione Potter rather.'

'Well you'll probably be in Ravenclaw, she had brains.'

'Which I didn't inherit. I'm dumb, I might be considered good looking and sporty but not smart, never smart,' Lauren said with a grin.

Steph laughed. 'Friends?'

'Friends.'

Lauren and Steph sat discussing their families and friends throughout the day and watched the beautiful scenery from their window.

'So my best buddy at my old school was Kelly Yura. I'm going to miss her but I now know that I'll have friends here as well.'

Lauren laughed. 'Do you have any brothers or sisters?'

'Yes, I've got a younger brother, a year younger. I doubt he'll get a letter saying he's a wizard.'

'He might.'

"I guess,' Steph said then she gazed out the window again.

'Gosh, look at the time. We better get into our uniforms.'

Lauren and Steph got changed into their uniforms in silence. Steph pulled out her wand.

'What type of wand have you got?' Steph asked.

'11 inches, unicorn hair.'

'Oh, mines 13 inches, phoenix feather.'

The train came to a halt and Steph and Lauren jumped from there seats and ran for the door.
