A/N: here be my Megaman X fic..w00t! I do NOT own, Zero, X, Alia, Signas, Axl, or any of the characters that appear in the games, any one else belongs to me, or one of my friends…..

It was night. A slender figure hid in the shadows in the remains of a few buildings. It watched as two other, not quite as thin ,walked in the deserted street. They looked around, waiting for an attack. The hiding figure darted quickly behind them as they went by. One of the two turned around quickly, but saw nothing. The other, slightly shorter, looked up with a questioning look.
"What is it?"

"I don't know…there's nothing there now…" The two looked at each other for a moment before stopping to listen. They kept quiet. Nothing could be heard. All was silent for several minuets before:
"Can you hear me? X? Can you hear me Zero?" The shorter one yelled in fear, jumped in the arms of, and attached himself to the taller one.
"…..X….it's just Alia…don't be a fruitcake…"
"I hate fruitcake…"
"…….get off of me…" Zero said, letting go of X and letting him drop the ground. X gave a cry of protest, but Zero ignored it.
"…Did I scare X again?"
"Yes…Yes you did…"
Alia held back a laugh before asking how their search was going. X had stood up again and sighed.
"There's no one here…and anyone we found didn't see anything either...it's like we're fighting an invisible enemy…like a ghost…"
"A…ghost…? X, you've been hanging around Axl WAY too much."
X gave a nervous laugh and went back to looking around.
"Well, Signas says you should return for the night…so, see you when you get back!" There was a click indicating she had closed the connection. Zero sighed and turned to X who had wandered off a ways.
"X! Order's been given to come back!" Zero called out to him. X nodded and turned to walk back. A sudden sharp pain attacked X's side and he fell to his knees. Zero paused and started to run over to X. "X! What happened?" Zero inquired running to him. X looked up to answer when he was hit again. X cried in pain and sunk lower to the ground, stopping himself falling with his hands. Zero looked around frantically trying to see who was attacking X. He could see no one. X whimpered as he held his wounds in pain. Zero quickly snatched him up and teleported away before anymore damage could be done. The figure that had been hiding smirked as she spoke into her comm.
"Mission accomplished sir…they know what they're up against this time…" She laughed coldly.

Zero sighed, rubbing his temples. He looked to X who was still in pain on the med lab bed. Lifesaver was working on fixing them. Zero turned to see Signas standing in the doorway. Zero bowed and looked to him.
"What happened?" Signas asked, his eyes narrowing trying to look serious, yet there was a hint of concern on his face. Zero shook his head.
"No idea sir…X was just attacked out of nowhere…." Zero said looking to his best friend. X looked over and nodded his head, recognizing Signas's presence.
"X…Zero…as soon as you, X are healed…I want you two to go on a mission."
"Sir?" Zero said, standing strait awaiting the order.
"When X is better, I want you two to go to school."
