The Sweetest Gift
A Luna/Ron Love Story

Author's Note: I do not own the Harry Potter characters as sad and pathetic as that may be.

Luna sat in the Great Hall. She licked her finger and turned the page. She sat alone. Partially because everyone said she was weird. So what if she was? She didn't care. Weird suited her just fine.
She was in her seventh year at Hogwarts and was proud to have managed to stay alive all seven years.
She was a tall, lanky girl with blond hair that fell half-way down her back in straggly tresses. She'd never considered herself pretty. But most boys felt themselves oddly attracted to Luna, as weird as she was.
Her personality could have been one of the things to attract boys to her. She was bubbly and talkative. Though that hadn't always been the case; in her fifth year she had been a bit quiet and shy, but then he came along.
Neville was his name, and he was the sweetest boy she'd ever met. His sand-colored hair and shy, quiet personality had drawn her to him. She'd fallen for him the first time her eyes laid upon his face.
"Luna." A voice said disrupting her thoughts.
"Hm?"
"Can we talk?" Luna looked up. Neville stood next to her. His sandy hair was sweaty and strewn across his soft-featured face. She nodded and stood up. He outstretched his hand for her. "Let's go for a walk." Luna was all to happy to oblige.
He led her out to the lake. She smiled, looking up at the sky.
"Nev."
"Yes?" Neville responded. "Wait. Hold that thought, we're here." He led her around a large tree and before Luna stood the most beautiful picnic lunch she had ever seen.
"Oh!" She exclaimed.
"I thought we could share a nice lunch." He said blushing. She smiled.
"Thank you. I'm sure it will be delicious."
They ate quietly. Neville served Luna as much of the lunch as she pleased and then helped himself to what was left.
Luna wiped her mouth with her napkin and looked over at Neville.
"This was great." She said smiling. He took her hand in his.
"That's not it." He said with a mischievous grin.
"There's more?" She asked.
He stood and pulled her up with him.
"Luna…" He started. "I love you." He pulled a red rose from the picnic basket and handed it to her.
"You do?" She asked. He nodded. "I love you too."
She grinned and pulled him into their first kiss.
