When Different Sides Collide
Chazz walked up the stairs while carrying a film camera and began recording. "An appearance left behind through the ages... An unstable stairway the seems like it'd break at any time... "
As Chazz was monologging, he opened the door to Jaden's room. He saw how Syrus had an argument with their new roommate Hassleberry. Red Hat stood next Jaden, completely annoyed by their petty arguments.
"Just leave already, Hassleberry! Besides, why would a Ra Yellow like you be here?" Syrus said with anger.
"For your information, I'm partners with the Sarge here. I'm his subordinate, so I have every right to be by his side." replied Hassleberry.
Jaden just smiled at their exchange, while Red Hat was only growing to be more annoyed. "Cone on, guys, let's just get along with each other!" Jaden stood up from his seat. "Besides, now's a time where the Red Dorm might be getting demolished. Having one friends is better then no friends!"
"Who cares about friends? I'm big bro's only younger brother-like friend!" Syrus said.
That was enough for Red Hat to snap and kicked Syrus in the shin. "Shut up! You are annoying and nothing else."
Syrus clutched his knee in pain and held back tears. "You're so cruel, Red Hat!"
Red Hat just scoffed at his comment. "Only to people I don't like."
Then suddenly they saw Chazz standing at their front door with his camera. Recording their entire argument.
Chazz looked at them "And then, we have the poor, the miserable residents."
Syrus walked towards him once he recovered. "What are you up too, Chazz?"
Chazz chuckled. "The Chazz Room has finally been completed. It has a living room, along with a spa room overflowing with light! And it has a fine-quality masisonette design that offers comfort and warmth for substance!"
"Since your room is completed. Least now I can finally sleep in peace without hearing all that noise." Red Hat remarked.
"I could show it you dweebs, though..." Chazz said with a smug smile.
Syrus looked at Hassleerry as he laughed a little. "I was hoping you'd show us..."
Jaden looked at Chazz with a smile. "That's awesome. I want to see 'em! That spa and your Mito soybeans stuff!"
"Heh, then, there's no helping it. Follow me." As Chazz was about to leave. Everyone looked towards the door and all of them saw Alexis standing there, carrying a bag. "Alexis?"
"Who's she, Sarge?" Hassleberry asked.
Jaden ignored his questioned. "Uh, Alexis. What brings you here?"
Alexis looked at them and had an irritated look on her face. "I've left the Blue Dorm. Think you can let me stay here?"
Everyone had a shocked look on their faces when she asked them that. Red Hat merely raised an eye brow. 'Left the Blue dorm? For what reason though? There's more to this then meets the eye.'
Meanwhile inside the chancellor's office. The entire rooms windows were all covered up and the lightswere turned off. The room was only kept lit by one candle. Crowler and Bonaparte were once again schemeing a new plan.
"How is the Star Discovery project coming along?" Bonaparte asked.
Crowler looked at him with a smirk. "You don't need to worry. Everything is fine. As for our next target..." Crowler then placed his hand inside of his jacket and took out a photo. He held it out and it was a pitcure of Syrus.
"Mmm? Is that not Jaden's disciple?" Bonaparte asked.
"Yes, this is Sigmore Syrus Truesdale. We will have him duel a Blue student, and should he be able to win... we will raise his rank, first to yellow, and then gradualmente to Blue." He looked at Bonaparte as his smirk grew bigger. 'And because of his older brother who is currently winning duels in the pro league. If Syrus wins, all eyes will be on our school.'
'It would be best if we reduce the people who follow Jaden, the heart of Red... and when he is weakened, we will then bury him along with the Red Dorm!' Bonaparte thought with a smirk. Both of them began laughing at their own ideas.
At the same time at the Slifer Red Dorm. The gang was currently in Chazz's new room which was finally completed. All of them looked around in shock as this didn't look like a dorm room, but the illusion of a fancy hotel room.
"First, we have the bedrooms!" Chazz said as he showed them around.
"Two two-floor rooms? You got rid of the interior wall for it!" Syrus pointed out.
"Guess that's why I couldn't get propper sleep with all that noise. It's right next to my room." Red Hat muttered.
"A lot of room there Chazz." said Hassleberry.
As they entered another part of the room. They were all shocked at what they saw. "Whoa! It's a bathhouse!"
"What do you think? It's my personal bathroom!" Chazz said.
"So, the dorm's outside hasn't changed at all, huh?" Syrus questioned.
"Well, that's what I was going for." Chazz stated.
"Least now, I don't have to put up with the noise when I want to sleep." muttered Red Hat.
Alexis looked around amazed. "It's fantastic, isn't it? Is it really alright if I use this room?"
Jaden turned to face her. "W-well, this is Chazz's room..."
Chazz quickly hushed Jaden. "Of course, I welcome you, Alexis!"
"If you do that, you'll fall back into our room again!" Jaden pointed out.
"Nah... I'm so moved that Alexis came to move here!" Chazz replied.
Red Hat narrowed his eyes. 'I wonder why...' He then turned to face Alexis. "Anyway, was something going on over at Blue, Alexis?"
Alexis immediately got an irriated look on her face as she turned to face the gang. "Yeah, there was! Look at this!"
She opened up her bag. All of them, except Red Hat, got shocked as she pulled out a red dress with puffy shoulder sleeves and frilly bottom that went down to mid thighs. Hassleberry got an awkward look on his face. Red Hat just shook his head with a sour and indifferent look on his face.
"That temporary Chancellor Crolwer... He told me to wear this, and to duel and sing!" Alexis said with an irritated expression.
"Wouldn't that mean..." Jaden spoke up.
"...you become the Academy's Idol?" Syrus added.
Alexis nodded. "Yeah... Making some Idol Training Course in Blue just as he pleases like that..."
Chazz blushes and had a happy expression, imagining the idea of Alexis in that dress. 'Alexis, an Idol? That could be good...'
Alexis looked at Chazz irriated. "What's with you?!"
Red Hat sighed. "He's bonkers. Wake up Chazz, you dork!"
Chazz snapped out of his fantasy, glaring at Red Hat.
"Still, Alexis, why're you walking with a dress you don't even want?" Jaden asked.
"Well..." Alexis stuttered for a bit.
Chazz looked at Jaden over his shoulder. "You idiot! Alexis' suing about her distress in Blue! So, she took her proof and came here!"
"Oh, is that it?" Jaden quiped.
Alexis then calmed down and looked at them with a determined look on her face. "Well... Since Chancellor Sheppard isn't here, both Temporary Chancellor Crowler and Vice Chancellor Bonaparte... They're doing as much as they want to, and I just can't stand it anymore!"
"You aren't the only one." Red Hat spoke up. "Those two bafoons have been getting on my nerves. Just wish I could stop them, without hassle."
Jaden nodded. "Yeah... And now, on top of that they're trying to demolish our Red Dorm? They can't get away with this!"
The door behind them opened up and Bastion ran in. "Jaden, Red Hat! We have trouble!"
Red Hat turned to face Bastion. "Something wrong, Bastion?"
"Who is he?" Hassleberry asked.
"He's Bastion Misawa, one of our friends." Jaden replied.
Syrus looked towards Bastion. "Why are you here Bastion?"
Bastion closed his eyes. "I need to speak to you..."
A few moments later. Bastion explained what he was hearing. Syurs was going to duel an Obelisk Blue student tomorrow. This caused Syrus to freak out as he sat on the couch.
"Wha?! I'm dueling a Blue opponent?!"
"Your opponent's name is Missy." Bastion said. "It sounds like you'll be approved for a rank-up to Ra Yellow if you win this duel, Syrus."
Alexis narrowed her eyes a little. "Missy... She's one of the better-skilled people among the Blues, and she's been nickednamed the 'Insect Princess.'"
Red Hat had a sour look on his face. 'You consider that one of the better duelist? Now I'm even more disappointed. Insect decks are not good.'
Chazz looked at Syrus with a troubled look. "Hmph, so she's one of the best there? Well, guess it'll be too heavy a load for you."
'I'm already face palming here. I'll prepare an old deck just to prove a point.' Red Hat thought with a sour look.
Jaden however seemed ike he was thinking about something. "What are you talking about? The stronger the opponent, the more you get fired up!"
Red Hat smiled. "Amen to that, Jaden."
Jaden looked at Syrus with a smile. "C'mon! It's your long-awaited duel! You'll win this for sure, and you'll show us your skills!"
Syrus however looked troubled. "This is ridiculous... There's no way someone like me can beat a Blue opponent!" Syrus got up from the couch. "I'm just going to lose miserably in front of the whole school!" Syrus then ran out of the room.
Hassleberry quickly stood up. "Hey Truesdale, where do you think you're doing soldier?"
Red Hat just sighed. 'You are pathetic, Syrus. Why do we even put up with you.' He thought as he left the room and walked away.
Moments later in Jaden's room. Hassleberry sat on his bed and looked at Syrus who was under his sheet. "Come on soldier, up and at them. You can't hide in your bed forever you know."
Syrus then spoke from underneath his sheet. "Of course not, just for a few days. A week at max, but don't worry, I have everything I need right here. Bottled water, a can ham, Mr Fuzzy Bear."
Hassleberry got a troubled look on his face as he heard that last part. "I am not even gonna ask about that, now come on." He then pulled the sheet so hard that a shocked Syrus flew out of the bed and onto the floor.
Hassleberry glared at him. "Listen up! Fear is your mortal enemy, and fear needs to be destroyed! Now get up, and fight that fear!"
Syrus sat up from the floor and looked at Hassleberry with a troubled look on his face. "But, I'm afraid to face it Hassleberry."
Hassleberry looked at him with a determined look. "Then you have already lost the war. Is that what you really want? No, you want to win. Not only against this Missy girl, ut against your own fear as well. Now what is it that scares you the most, Truedale?"
Syrus looked down at the floor, all troubled. Hassleberry jumped down from the bed and walked towards the door. He opened it and looked at Syrus over his shulder. "I will give you time to think about what your biggest dear is. This is something you need to do on your own. To face your inner demons head on." He then left after saying that.
Later in the evening. Red Hat was sitting down behind the Slifer Red dorm, organizing and constructng a completely different deck. After hearing the others talk about the duelist Missy. He decided to construct a completely different deck. This one being much much weaker then any deck he would care to create. He decided on a different deck design this time around.
His spirit friend Aussa appeared sitting down next to him. 'Why not deck build in your room, instead of out here?'
Red Hat took a glance at Aussa as he was adjusting his deck. "There is someone I think I should meet. You might know her." As Red Hat looks through his prototype deck. He took out one of the cards and showed it to Aussa.
Aussa blinked a few times and adjusted her glasses to see if it she was seeing correctly. 'Is that... Wynn?'
Red Hat nodded. "Most insect type monsters are earth and wind attriute. So I would you two to join me in this duel."
'I see... I'll try and see if I can get into contact with her. Last time I saw her, she left for her own adventures.' Aussa said as she returned to her world.
In the meanwhile, Red Hat continued to work on his prototype deck. He decided to make it a spellcaster deck. He decided to handicap himself as much as he would allow himself. Since he knew, the majority of insect type monsters were indeed earth and wind attriute. He wanted both Wynn and Aussa to join in on the duel. He had an idea on how the duel should play out. Only thing he needed now, was just being able to draw them and protect them when the situation calls for it.
'Just need to figure it out a way to properly use them. I'll need a lot of traps cards, extenders, and spell support. I won't use DMOC in this duel. She is not worthy of facing DMOC.' He thought.
After some time has passed, Aussa returns to Red Hat's side, with their new guest. Red Hat rubbed his eyes to check if he wasn't seeing things. Their new guest was a short, green eyed girl with green hair tied to ashort, messy ponytail. She was dressed in a similar fashion to Aussa. The difference was, she wore a white shirt, short black skirt underneath and brown boots. Red Hat figured, this was Wynn the Wind Charmer.
'You hang out with him, Aussa?' Wynn asked.
Aussa nodded. 'I'm his partner. It may not look like, but I tend to guide him.'
'To be fair, you also been guiding us since our days at the Magical Academy. You would often take the leadership role after we graduated and left on our own seperate adventures.' Wynn pointed.
'I always made sure everything turned out okay, even after we obtained our familiars, and began our intense training of our chosen element.' replied Aussa.
Red Hat raised an eye brow at their exchange. "Sounds like you two have a lot of history together, don't you?"
Aussa chuckled. 'You have a lot to learn about duel monster spirits. We have a lot of history you have yet to learn.'
He sighed in response. "There's a lot to learn. Maybe I'll understand someday, since you won't tell me or are very vague with the details."
'It's rare for spirits to bond with humans, let alone form a connection. You are a much different being from others we seen.' said Wynn.
"Just what do you mean by that?" He questioned.
'You'll find out someday.' Aussa replied with a smile.
Red Hat groaned as he she said that. 'Again with you being vague. How much do I have to bond or change just to learn something basic.' He shook his said. "Anyway, I want you two to join me in the my next duel. Just this once. I want to prove a point."
'I was continuing my travels...' replied Wynn. 'I can put that off for now. I want to know what Aussa sees in you, and why she's so interested in you.'
Red Hat gave them a warm smile. "I thank you. I'll try not to act so rash."
'Don't act so rash out there when it's time.' Aussa reminded him. 'Last thing wyou need is to cause havoc again.' Aussa and Wynn soon disappear back to their realm.
Red Hat took a look at his deck and organized it. Making sure it was fully complete for his duel. Once he was finished, he returned to his room to get some rest. Completely oblivious to Syrus, who had just existed Jaden's room and walked out to the edge of the cliffside.
The next morning afterwards. Everyone had gathered to the Obelisk Arena to watch the duel etween Syrus and Missy. Jaden and the others sat in the spectator seats, waiting for the duelists to show up. Red Hat was standing at the top of the stands with an uninterested look. He did't feel like interacting with the gang what so ever. Despite him staying away from the others. He stood out like a sore thumb by everyone else.
'Alright, let's see this duel. Somehow I doubt I'll be watching a good duel.' He thought. He then noticed that Chazz just walked into the arena and walked over the rest of the gang.
"Where were you?" Jaden asked, as Chazz sat down next to him.
"Nowhere. Just taking care of something." He simply said.
Everyone then looked down at the stage where the two duelists had just arrived. Red Hat over heard many of the comments. He was rather not amused by any of them.
"Zane's little brother is dueling?"
"There's no way he'll beat someone in Blue!"
Red Hat had to scoff at their comments. 'Syrus deck is quite terrible. You have to be comically bad to lose to Vehicroids.'
Bonaparte looked down at the stage. "My, word has surprisingly gone around-de aru."
"But of course it has. Zane's little brother is enough to stir up conversation, is he not?" Crowler replied.
The girl Missy looked at Syrus. She had dark magenta hair that she had put in two ponytails, has pale purple eyes, had black leggings along with the usual Blue girl's uniform, and wore pink heels over the the usual Obelisk Blue girl boots.
Missy looked at Syrus with a disappointed look on her face. "So, you're Syrus Truesdale? You're one plain kid." She then opened the locket she had around her neck and inside of it was a picture of Zane. "I really wouldn't have pegged you to be my Zane's kid brother."
"What's she starting up over there?" Jaden questioned.
"No fear soldier, face her with everything you got!" Hassleberry called out.
"Missy is a wildly-enthusiastic fan of Zane's." Alexis said.
Missy looked at Syrus with a smirk. "Though I'm not interested in a dropout being my opponent... Temporary Chancellor Crowler has said that he will refer me to the Pro League if I win this duel."
"Where my big brother is?" Syrus asked.
Missy smirk grew bigger. "That's right, so I'll be going all out on you. No hard feelings, right, boy?"
'I can already tell this will not be an interesting duel.' Red Hat thought.
And Red Hat was indeed correct. A couple turns have passed and so far, neither party has made any impressive plays. The only note worthy play he noticed was Shield Crush, and that's only because is was non-battle removal.
'If you have both Shield Crush and Drillroid, then you should not be struggling with defense position monsters.' He thought as he observed the duel. As he oberved further the audience began cheering for Syrus... somehow. Then all of a sudden Syrus was acting arogant and over confidant. 'You acted like a coward efore, now all of a sudden you start acting like a ig shot when you have some form of an advantage. Then you wonder why I do not support you.'
He continued to observe the duel a bit further only face palm hard at what he just observed. 'Giving your opponent free monsters just so power up Insect Princess. That is a horrible strategy. Didn't anyone tell you. Never give your opponent free stuff. A competent duelist will gladly use those free monsters as tribute fodder or material for other plays. This is embarrassing.'
As continued to observe the duel. Now everything was just slightly stalling until Syrus was able to pull off oneof the most circumstantial comos he ever saw. While he paid no mind to the gang arguing with Chazz, thinking he took Power Bond. Red Hat still found it comical he refuses to use it. 'You're still harping over that one moment, when you failed to use it? Get over it. You've proven time and again, you miss-time your plays.'
Missy looked at Syrus. "Tell me, as a bum of Slifer Red, wouldn't you say that you were Jaden Yuki's flunky?"
Syrus narrowed his eyes at her. "Yeah, I would. What's it to you?"
Missy glared at Syrus. "A flunky should just do as a flunky does! So don't get in my way here!"
Red Hat, watching the whole affair, held back from laughing. 'While Syrus is indeed terrible. Don't flatter yourself. You aren't anything special.'
As he continued to watch the duel progress. Syrus fusion summons Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill and finished off, Missy. 'What a contrive way to win.'
Red Hat began to leave the arena before everyone else even stood up to congratulate Syrus. 'Don't think you're out fo the woods yet, Missy. We will duel very soon. You can count on it.' He thought and left the arena. Not even bothering to turn back.
Red Hat stood and next to one of the pillars, clearly waiting for his opponent to appear. He didn't have to wait long as Missy was the first one on site to come out of the building. It wasn't long until the rest of the students began to walk out of the building, only to hault as they saw Red Hat about to confront Missy.
Missy glared at him. "What do you want? I don't have time to deal with a Slifer Red!"
Red Hat simply put on his duel disk and smirk. "I want to duel you, here and now."
Missy narrowed her eys at him. "Why would I even consider dueling you?"
Red Hat's smirk only grew. "What? Afraid you're going to embarrass yourself again? You did lose to one of the weaker Slifer Reds."
Missy's eye was now twitching. "What did you say? Are you mocking me?!"
"I don't have to. You are doing that yourself, already." He replied with a smirk.
"Is the Red Hat antagonizing again?"
"Just who is that Slifer Red?"
"Who does he think he is?"
"What is he on about? What is he trying to prove?"
Red Hat ignored the comments from an increasing audience. It wasn't long before the main gate was surrounded by the entire student body, with the gang in front of crowd. Crowler and Bonaparte were stadning back at the entire exchange.
"Let's make this even better. I'll handicap myself. I can not tribute summon, all my monsters must be spellcaster type, I can not use spells or traps that destroy my opponents monsters, and I can not use monsters whos's original attack is 2000 or more." explained Red Hat.
"Just what is he trying to prove? That is already a huge handicap." Alexis pointed out.
"Tch, he's trying to show off, like usual." Chazz said with an irritated look.
"Hey soldier, what are you doing giving your enemy an advantage?" Hassleberry questioned.
"Another duel right now? This is too cool." Jaden quiped.
Missy smirked at Red Hat. "You want to lose so badly? Fine I'll duel you and put you down." She readied her duel disk.
"Trust me 'hun', I have no intention of losing to a mediocre deck." Red Hat replied as he readied his duel disk.
DUEL
Red Hat: 8000 LP
Missy: 8000 LP
"Ladies first, I draw!" Missy draws.
Hand 6
"I set a monster. I'll end my turn with that." Missy ends her turn.
Hand 5
'Once he attacks, I'll pull of my combo. You won't see it coming.' She thought.
Red Hat narrowed his eyes. 'I know what you intend to do. I'll humor you.' He thought. "My turn, I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 6
"I summon Breaker the Magical Warrior in attack mode! (Atk: 1600 - 1900 Def: 1000)" Breaker appears on the field. "When he's normal summoned, he gains a spell counter wich raises his attack points by 300."
"Go ahead and attack me I dare you." Missy said.
"Battle, Breaker attack her facedown monster!" Breaker leaps forward and stabs the facedown monster, revealing to be Howling Insect. (Atk: 1200 Def: 1300)
"When Howling Insect is destroyed in battle, I can special summon an insect type monster with 1500 or less attack points. I'll bring out Pinch Hopper! (Atk: 1000 Def: 1500)" A grass hopper like insect appears onto the field.
"You think I care? I set a facedown and end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 4
"That all? My turn, I draw!" Missy draws.
Hand 6
"I play the spell card Insect Imitation! With this card, by tributing a monster, I can special summon an insect type monster that's one level higher then the monster I tributed. I'll tribute Pinch Hopper to special summon Millennium Scorpion in attack mode! (Atk: 2000 Def: 1800)" The Pinch Hopper was now replaced with a giant black scorpion, with gold markings and had a golden eye which resembled a millennium item.
"How quaint." Red hat commented.
"And don't forget Pinch Hoppers effect. I'm allowed to special summon an insect type monster from my hand when it's sent to the graveyard." As she tries to summon a monster. An error message appeared on her duel disk. "What? What's going on?"
Red Hat's smirk grew, until he burst out laughing. "You are a fool, you know that?"
Missy now had an angry look on her face. "What are you laughing about?!"
Red Hat quickly regained his composure. "What just happen was called 'missing the timing'. Pinch Hopper's effect is an optional 'when' effect. Since you sent it to the graveyard as a cost, his effect won't trigger as it's effect wasn't the last thing it happened. If it's interrupted by another effect, in this case you summoning another insect after Pinch Hopper was sent to the grave. You missed your chance, thus the effect can not be activated as the timing wasn't perfect. The key word is when. If it said 'If' or it's a mandatory when effect, 'when' effects will miss timing very easily."
"Why you..." Missy muttered.
"Wait so... effects don't always work? How come?" Jaden questioned.
"Well I'll be. The more you know." Hassleberry said.
"He knows that much?" Alexis asked.
Chazz had an irritated look on his face. "Show off."
"So my move is illegal... Big deal. I can still summon normally. I summon Flying Kamakuri #1 in attack mode! (Atk: 1400 Def: 900)" Flying Kamakuri appears on the field. "Battle, Millennium Scorpion attack his Breaker the Magical Warrior!" The scorpion readied it's slicers and strucked the warrior as it took a bite out of it and destroying it.
Red Hat: 8000 - 7900 LP
"When my Millennium Scorpion destroys a monster in battle, it get's stronger by getting 500 more attack points! (Atk: 2000 - 2500 Def: 1800) Now Flying Kamakuri, attack him directly!" The insect flew towards him and slashed him. Red Hat just stood there like nothing happened.
Red Hat: 7900 - 6500 LP
"Don't try and act tough. This is only the beginning. I set one card facedown and end my turn." Missy ends her turn.
Hand 3
"My turn, I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 5
"I play Pot of Greed! So I draw 2 cards." Red Hat draws his cards. As he took a glance he noticed the two cards he drew. 'Aussa and Wynn?' He then took a look at the rest of his hand. 'Something tells me she's going to summon her 'ace' soon. It's unlikely she'll run removal.' He thought.
Missy tapped her foot, impaitently. "What are you waiting for? I don't have all day!"
"I'll set a monster facedown and end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 5
"Is that all you got? My turn, I draw!" Missy draws.
Hand 4
"I activate my continuous trap, DNA Surgery! Now with this card on the field. All monsters on th field will turn into insect type monsters!" Missy declared.
Red Hat held back from chuckling. "Finally learned, to not give your opponent free monsters?"
Missy glared at him. "Shut up! What do yo know, Slifer Slacker! Battle..." Before she could declare an attack.
"Go trap, Threatening Roar! With this, you can not conduct your battle phase!" Red Hat said, as Manticore of Darkness emergaed and let out a mighty roar, preventing Missy's monsters from attacking before it disappeared.
"Tch, stalling? I'll set a facedown and end my turn." Missy ends her turn.
Hand 3
"My turn, I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 6
'Okay, all is set up. Let's set up one more time.' He thought as he continued. "I set a monster, then I set two cards facedown and end my turn."
Hand 3
"You aren't attacking? Fine be that way. My turn, I draw!" Missy draws.
Hand 4
"I'll set another card facedown. Now by sending my two facedown cards to the graveyard. I can special summon this monster. Appear Anteatereatingant! Yes his name is one word." As Missy two cards disappear. A giant black ant-like creature appears on the field. "Now for it's effect, at the cost of it atacking. I can destroy one spell or trap on your field. I'll target that left facedown!" As the giant ant readies it's slicers.
"Chain trap card, Wabakou! My monsters can not e destroyed in battle and I take no battle damage this turn." Red Hat announced as a barrier was emited to protect his monsters this turn, as the giant ant feast on the trap card.
"Why you! Are you going to actually attack or you're just going to stall!?" Missy said with an irritated look.
"If you knew what I was planning, then you wouldn't be so smug." Red Hat replied with a smirk.
"What's even the point of dueling me?" Missy asked.
"Simple, to show that you are in over your head if you think you're ready for the Pro League." Red Hat replied, holding back his laughter.
"What did you say?!" Missy snapped.
"What is that Slifer on about?"
"Just who does he think he is?"
"What is he talking about?"
"And you think you're ready? Give me a break. I end my turn." Missy ends her turn.
Hand 2
"I'm ending this duel now. Enough of this farce. Boku no Turn, Draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 4
"First I play the quick play spell Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your DNA Surgery!" A blue tyhoon emerged and shattered the trap card. "Granted, I didn't have to do that, but I rather see something charming." He said with a smirk.
"Just get on with it!" Missy said with impatience.
"Very well, first up I flip over one of my monster. Show up Wynn the Wind Charmer! (Atk: 500 Def: 1500)" Said green haired girl appears on the field. "Now for her effect, since she was flipped, I can take control of a wind attribute monster you control. Your Insect Princessis now mine!" Wynn starts a chant and soon took control of the Insect Princess.
'I'm not a fan of insects, but I'm not complaining. My former clan had many kinds of creatures.' Wynn said.
Red Hat rubs his eyes, think he heard and saw her spirit. Only to realize she glanced at him with a small smile. "Anyway, next up I flip over my next facedown. Appear Aussa the Earth Charmer! (Atk: 500 Def: 1500)" His familar friend appears on the field. "Now her effect, since she was flipped, I can take control of an earth monster you control. So that Millennium Scorpion is now mine." Aussa starts a chant and soon took control of the giant scorpion.
'You summoned me to fight insects, you are a strange one.' Aussa said.
Red Hat sweat dropped at her comment. "Not now, Aussa." He whispered as he contined his turn. "Time for a little fun. By sending Wynn to the graveyard, along with a wind monster. I can special summon her evolved form from the deck. Appear Familiar Possessed - Wynn! (Atk: 1850 Def: 1500)" Wynn and the Insect Princess disappears. Soom Wynn came back to the field only taller and had a more firce look on her face.
'Now I'm ready to fight. Though what do you intend to do?' Wynn asked and she looked over her shoulder.
"You'll see." He muttered. "Now I send Aussa and your Millennium Scorpion to the graveyard to special summon her evolved form. Appear, Familiar Possessed - Aussa! (Atk: 1850 Def: 1500)" Aussa and the Millennium Scorpion disappeared. Soon Aussa came back to the field in her veolved state.
'Looks like we'll be fighting insects, huh Wynn?' questioned Aussa.
'I've been through stroms before. Insects is nothing compared to that.' replied Wynn. 'You hang out with him beause?'
'He's not like many humans in this world. I tasked myself to help him out, so he doesn't stray from the correct path.' explained Aussa.
'Looks to me like you're doing a good job.' said Wynn.
"Girls, now isn't the time." Red Hat whispered as he sweat dropped at their exchange. "Now for my normal summon. I summon Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer! (Atk: 1800 Def: 800)" Kycoo appeared onto the field.
"So what? You still can't beat over my insect. Thanks to that handicap of yours, you can destroy it with card effects and you can't tribute summon stronger monsters!" Missy pointed out.
Red Hat merely chuckled. "I play the spell card Last Will! When a monster on my side of the field leaves the field and is sent to my graveyard, I'm allowed to special summon a monster with 1500 or less attack points from my deck! I special summon Injection Fairy Lily! (Atk: 400 Def: 1500)" A female pink-haired girl wearing a nurse uniform with wings sat on a huge tranquilizer appeared on the field.
"So what? You don't have enough damage even with her power boost!" Missy pointed out.
"You are very naive. I activate my set card, quick play Book of Moon! This card flips your monster into face down defense position!" The giant banck ant soon disappeared as it's card was fliped back down. "Did I mention my Familiar Possessed girls effects? If they are summoned by their own procedure, when they attack a monster in defense mode, they do piercing damage."
"Wait, my Anteatereatingant only has 500 defense points! That means..." Misy said with a shocked look.
"This duel is over. Familiar Possessed - Wynn attack that facedown insect!"
Wynn nodded. 'Don't mind if I do!' Wynn twirled her staff and launched a green energy ball at the facedown monster. As it was destroyed Wynn charged in and and launched a small green beam from her staff, pushing Missy back a little.
Missy: 8000 - 6650 LP
"Kyco the Ghost Destroyer attack Missy directly!" Kycoo charged forward and punched Missy directly. "Now for his effect. He can banish up to two monsters in your graveyard. Insect Princess and Millennium Scorpion are banished!" Kycoo starts a chant and both cards were ejected from Missy's duel disk.
Missy: 6650 - 4850 LP
"Injection Fairy Lily attack her directly! Her effect, by paying 2000 LP, her attack increases by 3000! (Atk: 400 - 3400 Def: 1500)" Injection Fairy Lily readies her tranquilizer and flew towards Missy, jabbing her with it.
Red Hat: 6500 - 4500 LP
Missy: 4850 - 1450 LP
"Last but not least. Aussa, attack Missy directly and end this duel!"
Aussa lightly chuckled. 'You want me to end this battle? Almost like you have favoritism over me.'
"Not now, please." He muttered.
Aussa nodded and twirled her staff, before launching a brown energy ball at Missy. The attack collided as Missy pushed back, before dropping to her knees as her LP was depleted.
Missy: 1450 - 0 LP
"A one turn kill?" Alexis questioned.
"Soldier, just how tough are you?" Hassleberry asked.
"He's just a show off. Ignore him." Chazz said with an irritated look.
"Nice dueling there, Red Hat!" Jaden cheered.
"Man, he's never worried when he duels." Syrus siad.
Missy soon got back on her knees. "The fact I lost to you, with a handicap."
Red Hat closed his eyes as he activated his duel disk. "This duel was only to prove you are not ready for the pro leagues under any circumstance. This deck I made isn't even good. I'd be lucky to even win a single match with this deck."
Missy now had an agry look on her face. "What do you know about the Pro League?! You aren't a pro and know nothing about it!"
"Don't I?" Red Hat takes out a card and reveals it to everyone. The card in question was Armament of the Lethal Lords. "See this card? This is what's called a match winner card. Tribute exactly three specific monsters to summon. If you attack directly with it and reduce your opponents LP to zero. You win the match. Aka best 2 out of 3. This and all other Match Winner cards are illegal cards. They are regional tournament prize cards. You can not obtain them in any other way, except if some collector who has any one of them is willing to sell them, and you can't use them in duels."
"He has one of those cards?!"
"Don't people charge big money to get their hands on those rare cards?"
"Just who or what is this guy?"
"Want more proof?" Red Hat suddenly glared at Missy. "I happened to watch a couple of Zane's pro league matchs in person. They way he and his opponents were dueling. You be lucky to even survive the minor leagues."
Missy scoffed at him. "So what? That doesn't mean a thing. If you claim to be better then the rest of us. Then why are you even here?"
Red Hat began to walk away as he put away his card. Not even bothering to look back. "I quit regional tournaments because people like you exist. I'm also not an attention seeker like Chazz." He walks off, ignoring the comments from his peers.
Later that night at Slifer Red. As everyone was eating their dinner in peace. A quiet dinner time wouldn't last long, as someone just entered the Slifer Red cafeteria.
"Hassleberry! Those are my fried shrimp!" Syrus called out, now wearing the Ra Yellow blazer.
Hassleberry relunctantly gave Syrus his fried shrimp. "But you moved to the Yellow barraks?"
Syrus takes his plate of fried shrip away from him. "I figured I'd want to eat with big bro, so I came to stay here." Syrus then slammed his plate on the table. "I won't give the tittle of 'younger-brother-like friend' to you!"
Hassleerry rose up from his seat. "Since when are you so tough?"
Syrus smirked at him. "Since I took your advice, Sarge!"
Hassleberry glared at him. "Let's take this outside!"
Red Hat looked at them over his shoulder. "Leave then." He then glares at Syrus. "Syrus, you are a hyprocrite."
"You won't eat my share!" Syrus snapped.
"After where your hands have been? No thanks." Red Hat simply said as he quickly finished up his dinner and head back to his room.
Once Red Hat returned to his room. He took out two of his cards. Both of them being Wynn and Aussa. Their spirit forms soon appeared next to him.
'So you called us?' Aussa asked.
'I watched that fiasco.' Wynn held back from laughing. 'You really are like Hiita. Stuborn, rash, loud mouth and easily angered.'
Red Hat sighed at the comparrison. "Why do you two keep comparring me to Hitta the Fire Charmer? Am I really that bad?"
'To put it bluntly, yes you are. That doesn't make you terrible.' Aussa said as she adjusted her glasses. 'Hiita can be hot tempered, but she cares for her friends. You still haven't told me why you have such a distain for others.'
"I dislike those types of people." He said. "I have no intention of becoming like those around me."
'Why snap at them? Can't you just ignore them and move on with your life? Why snap back and try to prove your dominance. That's something I expect from Hiita.' explained Wynn.
"Someone has to give them a dose of reality." He scoffed.
Aussa shook her head. 'Why not just let them experience it themselves? There's no reason for you to interfere. If this is your attempt to gain support, you are failing miserably at it.'
Red Hat scoffed. "As if I need support from people who aren't going to support some nobody like me."
'Stuborn, just like Hiita.' Wynn quiped. 'You have your work cut out for you, huh Aussa.'
'If I could handle Hiita's bad attitude. I can handle him just fine.' Aussa smiles. 'You be surprised, he can be sweet and kind hearted. You just won't see it unless he's with the right people. He also needs help.'
'Really now? Guess don't judge a book by it's cover has merit here. I'll head back now. I'll see you around some other time.' Wynn gives her a warm smile as she returns to the spirit realm.
Aussa now focused her attention at Red Hat. 'Now then, explain yourself. Why go out of your way to antagonize people? All you're doing is driving people away from you. Is that what you want?'
Red Hat wanted to retort, but he couldn't come up with a response.
'Once again, you said you don't care, yet you go out of your way to force your dominace onto everyone. Not only are you contradicting yourself, all you're really doing is showing others your lack of respect towards others. You have yet to dgive me any justification for your actions.' explained Aussa.
Red Hat was unable to retort against her points. He always felt like he needed to prove something to others. His standards for dueling was much higher and he didn't tollerate duelists thinking they are amazing, but are anything but that. He felt like he justify his actions simply on the notion that he despised the lack of standards shown on multiple fronts.
"I think I need a break from all of this." He said, as he layed down on his bed and began to fall asleep.
'I hope you understand the situation. We don't want you to relapse back to the way you were.' Aussa said as she returned to the spirit realm.
A/N: Originally I wanted to have another duel. However, I had no way to justify the plot forward, so I scrapped the idea. Also these chapters are getting to be too long and I'm not getting anything done. Time to explain more.
1) That play Missy does in the anime. Pinch Hoppers effect with Multiplication of ants. That's an illegal move. If tributed for cost, the effect will not activate and misses timing. Missing the timing in the anime is a myth in the anime lol. I'm more surprises no calls out that illegal play. So I had to point it out myself. It's an obvious dueling dueling error.
2) References to various lore will come to play later. GX had lot more potential to explain lore of duel spirits. (Season 2 and 3 are prime examples.) but didn't go anywhere with it. So I'll try to expand on it when the time comes.
Anyway. Until next time.
