CHAPTER 5
"...Nemo...Nemo..."
"...Are you gonna eat that?..."
Sleepy voices rang out, belonging to Marlin and Dory. After escaping the Shark gang, the two managed to find an old rundown building, being stuck in a bad and rough looking neighborhood it was the only place they could call shelter. That and both were too exhausted from running for their lives.
Marlin and Dory managed to make due for what they got and just slept. Both having their backs to eachother as they slept. Dory snoring peacefully away as she still kept tight to the goggles, snuggling them like they were a stuffed animal.
Meanwhile with Marlin, he had trouble getting to sleep from what with all that was going on in his life as of right now. But then he remembered he still had one cherished thing that he managed to save, his son's stuffed clownfish.
Just having that stuffed toy helped Marlin, and he soon began to dream of having his Nemo back in his arms.
The two continued to sleep, but what they didn't know was something was occurring outside of the abandon building.
A couple of construction workers and builders, even demolition workers, were outside a few blocks away, looking at the old building.
"I can't believe we're tearing down this building today!" "What with the Shark gang blowing up the old factory last night, Boss wasn't taking any chances" two workers spoke. "Alright ladies, enough chatting! The Boss is moving our plans forwards. We're blowing this building to start his fixing this part of town plan." The Head supervisor spoke out. All his workers turned full attention. "And thanks to the Shark gang, we got one less building to take care of. So once this old gal comes down, we start building, got it!" he turned to the old building.
"Everything's set!" one of the construction workers replied "Good. Let's blow this sucker down!" the Head guy said, as he got out a small device with a big red button.
Once he pushed the button, something inside the building began to happened and started to set off a slow beeping noise.
Meanwhile, Marlin and Dory continued to sleep, having no clue what was happening outside.
"...Careful with the hammer..." Dory continued to speak in her sleep as she turned over.
Sudden a beeping nose was heard, Marlin groaned, thinking it as his annoying alarm clock, and stuck his hand out to silence it. However the beeping was still going.
Marlin slowly opening his eyes to see why his alarm clock was still beeping, until he saw that it wasn't his alarm clock. Opening his eyes wide, he saw that it wasn't an alarm clock, but a timer with sticks of dynamite attached to them.
He shot up from the ground and looked around, seeing more timers and dynamites around.
"Oh no! Oh no!" Marlin began to panic, already figuring out what those timers are.
He just knew that he and Dory had to leave this place now!
"Dory! Dory!" Marlin ran to the sleeping woman "...That monkey has my money..." Dory continued to sleep talk. Marlin continued to shake her up, but she still could not wake up. "Dory wake up! Come on, get up!" "...Yes I am a natural blue..." Marlin continued to shake the blue haired woman up. Hearing the beeping sound getting faster.
Seeing there was no other choice "GET UP!" "Look out! Gangster Shark coming to get ya!" with that Dory sprang up from her place, goggles still in her hands as she did karate arm poses to defend herself.
Before Marlin could calm her down, both turned to one of the beeping timers with wide expressions and saw it had reached zero.
With that there was an explosion, and that explosion did the trick as Marlin and Dory both ran away screaming.
They continued to run and scream for their lives as more and more timers exploded, making the building starting to come down.
Somehow with all their running they did, Marlin and Dory ran to the top of the building, which was a bad move for the both of them as they began to feel the ground underneath them shake and crumble. Seeing there was no choice and only means to escape, Marlin saw another building.
"Jump!" he grabbed onto Dory and both jumped across to the next building over. They had made it to the other side and both rolled onto the ground, as the other building finally toppled over.
Dust and debris as well mixed with smoke filled the air. Both Marlin and Dory kept their heads down for a good second before looking up and coughing. "Wow! Sure was dusty for an old building" Dory said as she coughed again.
Soon their attention was turned to some cheering. Both turned to see the construction workers and demolition workers cheering for the job well done. "Hey, wonder what they were cheering for?" Dory asked tilting her head "What do you think? That was too close, we could've died in that building!" Marlin expressed, trying to remain calm over the situation.
Just than Marlin remembered something. "The goggles! Where are the goggles?!" Marlin grabbed Dory's shoulders, she stared at him for a second before realizing. "Oh, the goggles! Right, about that...when we jumped, I may have sorta accidently...let go of the goggles" Dory turned and began to retrace her actions "And they must've fallen down...there!" Dory finished as she pointed to the edge.
Marlin was beyond horrified what he heard, he ran to the edge, looking down to a dark alleyway. "No! The goggles! We have to get them back!" Marlin screamed as he ran to a fire escape.
Marlin ran down the fire escape as quick as a flash, Dory followed behind him as she was just slowly making her way and humming a tune to herself.
Once he reached the bottom, Marlin ran to were the alleyway was. He was about to go, but before he could step foot he looked to see this alleyway was way too dark. Really unusual and rather scary looking, Marlin just stood there and panted.
He then walked over to lean on the side of the wall, sliding down until he sat on the ground.
Dory skipped passed him, still in her own little world and humming a tune, even cheering to herself as she did, walking right into the darkness of the alleyway. "Man, sure feels like it keeps going on doesn't it?" she spoke out loud "Echo! Echo!" she goofed around, having a little fun. She stopped however and noticed her companion was no where to be seen. Turning back, she fund him on the ground looking hopeless for some reason.
"Hey buddy, what are you doing?" she asked as she walked back to him. Marlin just ignored her and looked down to his hands "It's gone! I've lost the goggles!" "What, did you drop them?" "You dropped them!" Marlin yelled making Dory step back. "That was the only chance of finding my son, and now they're gone!" Marlin placed his head in his hands, feeling more frustrated than ever.
But he felt right about one thing. The goggles were the only clue of finding Nemo, and now that chance was taken from him yet again.
Dory watched the man as he sat there, she felt more sorry for him. She didn't mean to loose the goggles. Dory then turned back to the dark alley and back to the man. If the goggles were in there, than they were going to get them back. However, it seems like the world was against them right now, making Marlin feel more hopeless.
Just then, Dory thought of something that might help in this situation.
"Hey Mr. Grumpy" she leaned forward, making Marlin look up at her. Seeing her face was making Marlin confused, wondering what Dory was thinking. "I got a little diddy that might help" she said with a little song in her voice, making Marlin frown from hearing this.
"When life gets you down, you know what you gotta do?" Dory asked "I don't wanna know what you gotta do" Marlin replied frowning.
Dory: Just keep going,
Just keep going,
Just keep going,
Going,
Going,
What do we do?
We go on forth
Marlin justed sighed as Dory kept on singing as she grabbed his hand, pulling him back up. Both began making their way into the dark alley.
"Dory please no singing" Marlin asked her, not feeling the song. However Dory continued to sing as she sang in an opera style voice.
Dory: I love to keep going,
When you want to keep on going...
"Dory! Stop singing!" Marlin tried to tell her to stop, but Dory still kept on singing. "See, I'm gonna get stuck now with that song now it's in my head!" "Sorry"
Once the two were in the alleyway, it was pitch black, so dark that no one couldn't see, even if people looked hard enough. People would even get lost in an alley like this. But Marlin made sure that Dory was close to him. Looking around and trying to search for the goggles. Seeing as he wasn't having any luck.
"Dory did you see anything?" "Ahh! Something's got me!" "That was me, I'm sorry" Dory gasped at the voice "Who's that?" "Who else could it be? It's me!" Marlin replied. Even though it was dark it was still impossible to see who it really was, Dory lifted her brow, as she tried to guess. But only one thing came to her mind "Are...are you my conscience?" she asked out loud.
Hearing this Marlin face palmed himself, however this would help him little. "Yes yes, I'm your conscience, we haven't spoken for a while" he decided to play along. "How are you?" "Hmm, can't complain" Dory replied, shrugging her shoulders.
Seeing as he got Dory's full attention, Marlin began "Now Dory, I want you to tell me...do you see anything?" he asked her. Dory tried hard to look around "I...don't see anything, but I hear something!" Dory replied to her 'conscience.'
"Hear something?" Marlin stopped "Yeah, somewhere around here" Dory said. Both began to hear what that something was. It made a little yipping sound. "Hey conscience, have I finally gone insane?" Dory asked "No...no, I hear it too" Marlin said, wanting to hear the sound more.
Both began to follow the strange yipping sound, as they continued to hear, it began to get louder as they got closer. In the alley it began to show a little light, just enough for the two to see. And still hearing the yipping become louder. "What is it?..." Marlin asked, looking around trying to find where the sound was coming from.
Dory heard the sound by her feet, and looked down and gasped. This got Marlin's attention, whipping his head to see Dory bending down to the ground. He too bend down and stared with wide eyes.
What the two found, and where that yipping sound was coming from, was a small brown pitbull puppy.
The puppy continued to yip and squeak as he looked up, seeing these people and began to wag his little tail at them.
"He's...so...cute!" Dory exclaimed with a bright smile.
Marlin stared at the puppy for a moment, at first he was concern that it was a stray and may have rabbis. But when the puppy looked straight at him, all of his worries suddenly melted away. "I..I'm feeling...happy! Which is a big deal...for me" Marlin said, still keeping his eyes on the tiny puppy.
"I want to pet him!" Dory said, bring her hand up to pet the puppy. The puppy moved away and began to wag his tail even more, barking happily. Both Marlin and Dory chuckled and saw the puppy was in a playful mood.
"Hey! Where you going little guy!" Marlin exclaimed, seeing the puppy spinning in circles and barking happily. "Come back here!" "I'm gonna get you!" both Marlin and Dory continued to sweet talk the puppy, both playfully chasing the puppy.
As the two continued to play chase after the puppy, the two didn't know that something was sneaking up behind them, and it made a fierce growling sound. Both Marlin and Dory were so occupied with the puppy, that they didn't know that the growling sound was behind them.
"Who's such a cute puppy?" "He's a good puppy! He's a good- good feeling's gone!" Marlin stopped as he turned around. Dory made a mistake and turned around as well.
What the two saw that was behind them was a full grown brown pitbull dog, no more than the size of a full grown man if it was standing on it's hind legs. From the color of the fur that had to be the puppy's mother, and she was not please with strangers being near her baby.
Seeing this monster of a dog, both Marlin and Dory screamed and ran for their lives. The Mama dog bared her teeth and barked as she chased after them.
Marlin and Dory continued to run as they tried to get away from the dog. But they could feel the dog catching up to them. "I can't see! I don't know where I'm going!" Marlin yelled, trying hard to see where he was running, with Dory followed right behind him.
Just them something green and black caught Marlin's attention "The goggles!" he came to a complete halt. Dory crashed into him "What goggles?" she looked around to see.
Marlin looked to see the dog, and pushed himself and Dory to the ground and found a hiding place. The dog used her nose to sniff them out, trying to find them. "Okay, I can't see a thing!" the dog heard Dory's voice and turned straight towards where the sound came from.
"Oh geez!" Marlin exclaimed seeing the dog growl at him. Dory grabbed something, bring the object up "Hey look, the goggles!" she happily exclaimed, showing Marlin the object in her hands. "Read it!" Marlin told her and ran, with the dog following behind him.
Dory ran over to the garbage cans where it was somewhat safe, with her was the puppy. As much as she wanted to play with the puppy, she had to help her new friend, and to read what the writing was first.
Dory tried to concentrate really hard, but all the noise was distracting her. "Okay if you can at least keep it down for a moment, I'm trying to read!" she shouted to Marlin "Just read it!" he yelled back, trying to dodge the attacking dog. "Okay, okay! Mr. Bossy" Dory rolled her eyes, and went back to the goggles.
"Okay uh...'P!' Sher..." Dory began to read the Latin writing, trying to sound out the words to help her out.
"Back! Back dog!" Marlin shouted, trying so hard to outrun the dog, but the mother dog kept chasing after him and barking at him. Marlin got up on one of the garbage cans "First line says 'P. Sherman!'" Dory called out to him "P. Sherman doesn't make any sense-!" Marlin fell to the ground by the dog that pushed the garbage cans down, and the dog almost pounced towards him, making him get back up and run for his life once again. "Must be a name. Okay second line...'42'..." Dory turned back to continued to read the goggles as the puppy wagged his tail and stared at the blue haired woman.
Marlin ran until he crashed into the wall and fell to the ground, he yelped in pain as he quickly turned to see the mother dog trying to bite his foot. "Here doggy, got fetch the ball!" Marlin grabbed an old tennis near by and threw it. Somehow it worked and the dog's attention was to old tennis ball, and ran to fetch the ball. Seeing this as an opportunity, Marlin got back up and ran to where Dory was.
"Second line says '42 Wallaby Way!'" Dory told him "Okay that's great, finish it up!" Marlin told her. Marlin looked up and saw Mama dog running straight for them, baring her teeth, growling and barking at them. Marlin panicked and soon noticed the puppy was with them as well "Oh you gotta be kidding me!?" he exclaimed, seeing this was a bad end for him and Dory.
"Come on 'Sy'...'See'..." Dory tried to finished what the line said, but she was having trouble. "Take a guess! No pressure! Just try to sound it out!" Marlin began to panic even more seeing he was too exhausted and out of breath to run anymore, there was also no where left to run and hide as the dog charged straight for them. "Lots of pressure! Pressure! Take a guess now with pressure!" Marlin screamed seeing the dog was almost near.
"'Sydney' It's Sydney!" Dory happily shouted the last line "Duck!" Marlin screamed and both he and Dory dived away as the dog jumped towards them.
There was absolute silences for the two, not a word was said. Until the sound of Marlin panting was heard, he was bent over a bit as he covered his eyes. "I'm dead. I'm dead, I'm dead, I'm dead, I'm dead. I died, I'm dead!" Marlin said, slowing peeking to have a look if he had died from the crazed monster dog.
Marlin was shocked to see he was still alive, turning to see Dory was okay as well. Both turned to the sound, seeing that the dog was having trouble of seeing as it somehow got the goggles stuck on her head. The dog trying to get the goggles off, but was having trouble and was occasionally bumping into things around.
Seeing this Marlin let out a chuckle "Whoo hoo! We did it! We did it! Oh yeah, yeah, yeah!" he cheered, making Dory walked over to him and smile at the man. Marlin then grabbed Dory's hands as they both spun around and chanted a little diddy they made up "We are still alive, oh! We are still alive!" both sang that little diddy for a good few seconds. "No no no, you won't get us cause you're stuck!" Dory continued on the diddy.
Marlin looked at the woman as he just remembered "Dory!" he made her stop the little silly made up diddy "What did the goggles say?" "P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney" Dory replied to him straight forward.
Just then Dory gasped, making Marlin jump back at the woman's action.
"I remembered it! I actually remembered what it said!" Dory grabbed Marlin's shoulders "I usually forget things, but I remembered it this time!" she happily continued, and soon began to do a made up dance and hummed around.
Marlin smiled a little and looked deep in thought, hearing what was written on the goggles and what they meant, was a inch closer to finding his son.
However there was a smaller problem to that, even now he knew where Nemo could be, he still had no idea where that place was.
"Where exactly is Sydney?" Marlin asked out loud "I don't know?" Dory replied to him, shrugging her shoulders. "But who cares, I remembered!" Dory cheered once again and spun around.
Both then jumped and screamed as they heard the dog barking, and from the looks of it, she almost has the goggles off her.
"Let's get outta here!" Marlin exclaimed, as he quickly ran to the way they came from. "Right behind ya partner!" Dory added, she too following him. "P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney! I remembered it again!" Dory shouted happily as she skipped behind Marlin.
The dog finally managed to get the goggles off her, she turned and growled as she was about to chase after them again. But the puppy ran over to his mother and yipped and squeaked, even playfully barking as he played by her feet. The mother cooled down as she licked her baby. Seeing there was no point of going after the strangers anymore.
After that death defying dog chase, now Marlin and Dory had a clue to finding where Nemo is, but they just needed a little more help on how to get to Sydney.
Where ever Sydney is.
