[Takes place right before the bots dispersed all over the world]
Various voices filled the training center as the bots and humans chattered amongst themselves in one of the many vacant rooms of the Training Center. Balloons and streamers filled every corner of the room, and a large handmade banner hung over one of the walls. It didn't say anything specific, but it held simple drawings of each bot present at the small gathering.
"Nice banner, Blades!" The copter's partner walked over to him with a cup of punch in hand.
"You made it!" Blades' optics lightened at the sight of the human, but he cast her a questioning look after recalling she was scheduled to have a test flight soon. "What happened to your pilot duties?"
"I asked for the day off; it is moving day, after all." Dani smiled and took a sip of her punch. "Besides, I couldn't miss another party." She lightly elbowed her partner's ped, earning her a grin on his part.
Blades had thrown a 'Goodbye' party, and naturally, he invited the entire team, including the Greene family.
Knowing it would be the last time they'd be together for a long time, everyone rescheduled whatever they had going on and decided to show up.
Kade was at the refreshment tables, his hand buried in a bowl of chips which inspired some snarky remarks from his sister.
Boulder and Graham talked with Professor Baranova about the Scrubber tech and what advances they had made so far. She informed them that the first few stages of development had been complete, but they would upgrade the current patches later on.
Chief Burns talked with Doc Greene, asking approximately how long the new tech would take to develop and what possible conflicts it could cause. Chase had been with them, but Blurr had challenged him to a race around his slot car race track.
Much to his boredom, the purple speedster was prohibited from playing music, so instead, he went around asking the other bots to race him. He had asked 2 out of the seven bots present, but Boulder and Blades weren't interested, and the latter didn't even have a land alt for starters.
HighTide didn't have a land alt mode either, he knew Heatwave would say decline, and he didn't want to ask Quickshadow because he didn't feel like having his aft handed to him again. So he asked Chase, and the police bot surprisingly accepted.
Blurr was in the lead for a few seconds, but Chase pulled ahead, repeating the racing advice Chief had given him a few years ago. 'Embrace the curves.'
Salvage finished repairing one of the vacuum robots that kept going haywire and had joined in on Graham, Boulder, and the Professor's conversation.
Cody and Frankie walked around, occasionally engaging in conversation with the others. They'd already talked with Blades, Chase, Heatwave, Boulder, Salvage, and Blurr. Cody said short goodbyes because he didn't know how long they would be apart.
Frankie had full clearance to her Stepmom's lab, so she'd be able to see Blurr, Salvage, Boulder, and Graham whenever. She focused more on saying goodbye to HighTide, Blades, and Quickshadow because they were assigned to Faxian.
A few loud giggles and cheers reverberated from the other side of the room. The teens turned their heads to see Frankie's younger sister squirming happily in HighTide's large servo. The seabot was telling the small girl another one of his war stories.
Frankie laughed at her sister's facial expressions. She appeared to be very immersed in the story. "I'm surprised HighTide agreed to 'babysit' her."
"He never misses an opportunity to tell his stories." Cody shrugged with a smile.
A new set of pedsteps made them turn around, and they found the playful orange helper bot, Servo, eagerly trotting over to them.
"Hey, Servo!" Cody reached out to pet the Cybertronian dog. The helper bot nuzzled its snout into the palm of his hand, his tail wagging happily at the affection.
"How have you been, boy?" Frankie cooed at the dog, adding to his excitement.
Servo barked, enjoying the attention he was reviving. He stayed with them until he spotted a vacuum cleaner headed for the crumbs Kade had dropped, and he began to chase it all over the room.
Frankie nodded in amusement while Cody only chuckled at the helper dog's antics as they wandered the room aimlessly.
In another corner of the room, the silvery-white femme stood, observing the others talk amongst each other. Quickshadow checked her internal clock and estimated the small reunion would be over in half an hour because everyone had yet to finish moving to their designated areas by that afternoon.
It wasn't that she was in any rush to finish moving; all her belongings were already unpacked and put away at the new base in Faxian. She was still new to being a part of a team, so the little party Blades had organized was a little out of her comfort zone.
She didn't get the appeal of parties. If it were up to her- she'd be doing some martial arts training or engaging in something productive rather than hanging around and mingling with the other bots.
Still, Blades had insisted she go, and she ultimately obliged to get him off her back.
Her optics darted around to the room and landed on the hand-painted banner that hung to her right; a barely audible scoff escaped her dermas at the cheery smile the doodle that was supposed to represent her wore.
"Hey Quickshadow!" a familiar chorus of voices caught her attention. Cody and Frankie waved up at her.
She responded with a slight upturn of her lip components and shifted her attention to the two teens.
"You okay?" Frankie asked, referring to the corner she kept to.
"I'm fine," she assured the girl. "I'm not very fond of parties."
Frankie mouthed, 'Oh' at her reply. Cody began to ask her what she thought of her new role. Conversation soon enveloped the two teens and femme.
In another part of the room, Heatwave had been going around talking to the other bots, offering advice and pep talks.
Blurr and Salvage had received the pep talk from the firebot. Heatwave urged them, specifically Blur, to put their training to good use, and he let them know he was pleased with their progress.
Chase had prepared a 'small' poem for him. The fire bot almost dozed off midway through the speech, but he let Chase have his moment and fought to keep his optic lids open.
Boulder gave him an outline of what to expect with the new Scrubber tech while it was still in development.
Heatwave was currently giving Blades a few pointers on leadership. Despite knowing Dani would be there, Blades was still nervous about leading Quickshadow and HighTide.
He caught sight of the femme talking with Cody and Frankie across the room. She hadn't spoken to anyone for the majority of the party.
Her optics suddenly shifted and met his in a questioning gaze.
Heatwave's breath hitched for a nanosecond as he turned back to the ranting bot in front of him.
He shook off Quickshadow's gaze and muttered something under his breath.
"What was that?" Blades asked.
"...Nothing," Heatwave murmured. "Uh..check-in if you have any issues. Bye, Blades." He walked off towards HighTide, who was gently holding Cece's sleeping form.
Back over with the 14-year-olds and Quickshadow, Cody and Frankie were told they would be leaving soon. They were finishing up their small conversation with the femme.
Chief and Doc soon called the two kids over. "See you around Quickshadow!" They waved and walked over to their families.
Quickshadow noticed everyone was preparing to leave. Hugs, handshakes, and salutes were being exchanged. She looked around to find Blades of HighTide but saw Heatwave approaching her instead.
"Hey, Quickshadow." His gruff voice greeted.
"Heatwave," she replied.
"What do you think of having Blades as your leader?" he attempted to make small talk.
Quickshadow stopped to think of a reply. She honestly didn't know what to expect from the rotary.
"It will certainly be...interesting," she admitted. "But Optimus knows what he's doing." her shoulder pads lifted in a shrug.
Heatwave nodded. Primus knows what Optimus had planned, but to be fair, Blades had matured a lot, and Dani would make sure to keep him in check.
Quickshadow noticed Blades and HighTide waiting for her in front of the ground bridge.
"I'd better get going." She nodded her helm to the two mechs on the other side of the room.
"I guess this is goodbye then." Heatwave looked to the femme, stretching out his servo for a handshake.
"You aren't getting rid of me that easy." a teasing smirk spread on her faceplates as she gave his servo a firm shake.
"I'll be seeing you, Heatwave."
