I'M BACK!! This is a practice fanfic to help me get back on my feet after being gone for so long and a little out of practice while focusing on my internship which is almost over. I'll admit I'm quite the Vampire Diaries fan. At least for seasons 1-4 after that I lost interest in the show but I still watched the rest of the series like any other fan would. But still the show is at it's best during the first four though. In that time I've seen that Katherine is such an underrated character aside from the fact that she's played by the same actress, still there's just something about her that screams for maybe just one redemption/happy ending story. Also be advised that I'm not going to stay in order I'm going to be jumping all over and I might not get the details right and my spelling and wording might be off but who cares as long as the idea and story becomes a reality.

Hayden Kerbex was just your average High School loser. The bullies punching bag, the brainiac, and the guy who remained a sexless, weak virgin. In the eyes of any girl that is, especially the beautiful ones and in a small town like Mystic Falls, that was the vast majority of them.
Yep, that's was life was for him, a living Hell! To think it couldn't get any worse, well it did. Lately these past few years of verbal and physical abuse have finally begun to take it's toll on Hayden's self-esteem which of course was barely any left. Until a little bit ago he learned something very disturbing and very painful.
Six Months Ago:
Hayden was off at the party with everyone else at the school and of course it was boring for him at least and Hayden didn't really do well in events like this where he felt alone, outcasted, insecure, angry, envious even. A lot of the students had been there to get wasted and they'd done a pretty good job of that so far, as for himself he managed to keep to himself for the majority of the party, finding a nice quiet space away from the rest of the others sitting onto of a park bench having a bit of booze himself to take the edge off. However tonight it was only a temporary situation as the head jockstrap and number one tormentor Tyler Lockwood there was just something about this dickhead that boiled his blood, never giving anyone a break not even him. His old man was the mayor of Mystic Falls and honestly even after meeting the man once Hayden can already tell where Tyler gets his abusive attitude from. Still that doesn't get him off the hook and if he has any sense hopefully Tyler and his football friends will keep on walking.
Unfortunately that isn't the case.
"Well well, look who it is guys Kerbex actually is invited to a party after all, and here I thought that you were too much of a chump to actually show up." Tyler taunts.
Hayden hears Tyler but doesn't acknowledge him and just keeps his eyes focused on the bonfire.
"Hello anyone home in there? Wow a loser and deaf too no wonder he's still single." Tyler waves a hand in front of Hayden's face. Before Looking back to his friends laughing.
"Don't you have anything better to do Lockwood, why don't you guys go bother someone else please, I'm really not in the mood tonight." Hayden said with a low amount of tolerance in his voice.
"What's wrong can't handle having a little friendly chat." Tyler claims.
Hayden finally looked at Tyler, "You are not my friend."
He casually shrugs, "True, but then again you really don't have any friends so…" Tyler smugly remarks.
That really seems to strike a nerve with Hayden as he feels a surge of rage go through him. One that's stronger than any other he's ever felt before.
Before Hayden realizes it he's already off of his feet and gripping Tyler's jersey with tight fists, their faces only inches apart. For a moment Tyler for once looks scared as he observes Hayden's expression is completely filled with anger seething through his teeth.
The first sense that comes back to Hayden is the sound of his heavy breathing and the tight grip he has on Tyler's football jersey. The rush slowly subsides as Hayden's other senses start functioning again. He notices a few of the other football players have a mix of different expressions some looked shocked while a few of the others look like they're ready to rush him.
One finger at a time Hayden let's go of the jock's shirt and carefully takes a few steps back away from Tyler holding his hands up.
Hayden let's out a sigh, "I'm sorry just…please can I just have one night, just one please I'm not feeling like myself tonight!" He pleads.
Tyler doesn't say anything at first, after a few moment of silence passes between them he breaks the silence.
"Whatever man, come on guys this is your only free pass from me Kerbex." Tyler warns pointing at Hayden turning to walk away.
However one of the guys a dirty blonde, Greg Linderman decided to get physical pushing Hayden back against the table.
"Don't touch my boy again you little shit, or I'll mess you up good!" He yells.
"Hey come on Greg it's fine!" Tyler calls out to his teammate.
"This loser thinks he's found a bit of a backbone and wants to show us who's boss, huh?" Greg pushed again.
Only this time Hayden pushed back, "Leave me alone!" He grunted out of frustration.
That did it for the jock, who throttled Hayden holding him down by the throat against the picnic table delivering hard punches across the face.
Tyler and the others witnessed their friend beating him to death. "Woah! Hey Greg cool it man!" Tyler called out, as much as he likes to pick on Hayden even he doesn't want to see him brutalized like this.
Pain is all Hayden is feeling right now receiving blow after blow to the face while the air is currently being chocked out of him with his attackers other hand on his throat.
Suddenly that surge comes back again almost like an instinct this time, with a hard shove sending Greg back landing on his back followed by a loud CRACK! From his head hitting a rock.
Hayden finally stands up straight holding the side of his face with his hand. Groaning in pain his vision is slightly blurring as it comes back into focus he notices Greg on the ground and fear replaces his anger and pain as it spreads throughout his entire being.
Even in the darkness he can see that Greg's eyes are wide open and he isn't moving…at all.
Tyler and the others catch up taking in the scene their mouths wide open in shock at their friends lifeless body and the rock that has blood splattered on it.
Their eyes find their way to Hayden who is looking like he's about to have a panic attack.
Of course in no time at all he finally does, "Oh my God, oh my God, what have I done I didn't mean…I swear I didn't- it was an accident, he attacked me I-" Hayden stutters out in between shallow breaths as the realization hits him that he just killed someone. Regardless that it was a bully still he killed him.
Hayden can't take anymore as he quickly runs off into the woods. He doesn't know how long he was running for or where he was but his mind was a little preoccupied with the fact that he just killed someone. Tears fall out of of his eyes as he cries the guilt coming off of him in waves.
Suddenly he feels something, not rage but a burning feeling that strikes him hard. Hayden puts his hands to his head feeling like it's about to explode. Feeling his body become erratic. Grunts and groans escape his lips as he finally goes to his knees. His head shoots up letting out a roar into the night sky.
Hayden doesn't realize it but his eyes turn black with yellow irises that quickly fade away. Yet Hayden didn't realize it then but he'd soon figure out very quickly the true changes that were happening to him. And the worst one that was yet to come.
I'm basically trying to ease myself into it so hopefully this was a good start. I originally planned to have a longer first chapter but I decided that I wanted to get it posted to get the story out there first. Again due to my lack of dormant motivation that I'm trying to jumpstart right now I'm not going to be as lengthy as I usually am probably a minimum of 1,000 words to a maximum of 4,000 per chapter I'm just going along and yes I'm aware that this isn't a crossover but apparently more people see mainstream stories better that crossovers. Also Katherine won't be introduced until probably chapter 3 or 4, possibly 5 at the latest.
The next chapter will be up either this weekend or this time next week. I'm still finishing up some work for my internship though.
