Prologue: Sitting Ducks
The light reflected off the television screen that had apparently seen better days. Two fingers slowly traced the side edge of the screen collecting dust in their passing.
There was dust everywhere.
Robin turned away from old t.v. set and went about starring at the rest of the apartment, suddenly finding herself pacing at her lack of something to do. Amon had told her not to bother cleaning. It was a waste of time unless he was sure they were staying for a while.
Still, Robin had a voice in the back of her brain practically gnawing at her, telling her to clean.
Picking up a rag she had found earlier, left by itself in a closet, she set to work.
"I do not think that would be a wise decision," Nagira told his brother as they sat in a small coffee shop, somewhere in the urban wilderness that was Tokyo.
"Wise," Amon questioned, "I've just found out I'm wanted by SOLOMON, something I expected, but I am still trying to wrap my mind around. Not to be outdone by the fact that its not just me I have to keep alive now, I have to ensure Robin's safety as well. And she's injured… and you want me to be wise about decisions?" Amon finished, taking a sip of the strong back coffee in front of him, and boy did he need it.
"Hey, don't lose your cool here buddy, and don't start taking this shit out on me. I'm trying to help you, remember?" Nagira leaned back in his chair, taking a drag from his cigarette. "What I'm saying is that you are gonna have to wait a while before you attempt to leave Japan."
"Great, just fucking great." Amon muttered under his breath, placing himself into a starring contest with his coffee.
"Yeah well, don't get so comfy you're not ready to run. Being here right now is risky but its better then trying to go anywhere else at the moment. Your just gonna have to wait it out for now." Nagira stood up throwing some money on the table ready to head out.
"Hmmp. Sitting Ducks." Amon grumbled, obviously not too pleased with the outcome of the conversation.
On his way out of the coffee shop, slowly walking behind his brother, Amon could have sworn he heard Nagira make a 'quaking' sound.
"Hey kiddo, we're back." Nagira opened the door, stopping in his track. "Jesus, kid. You really did a number cleaning this place. We were only gone for an hour."
Robin raised slowly from her position, bent down on the floor scrubbing away grime without mercy. She gave him a weak smile before standing up completely.
"Which was supposed to be spent giving you time to rest." Amon commented walking through the door past his brother. Amon was obviously not pleased that Robin had gone against his wishes. Not only not resting but also, cleaning most of the small apartment.
"As much as I hate to agree with the bastard over here, you should probably take it easy kid." Nagira gave Robin a small pat on the back before walking past her and flopping himself down on the couch.
"It's not really that much work…" Robin said, eyes following Amon as he went into the kitchen. "What did the two of you decide?" She asked, moving the conversation on to more important things.
"Nagira does not think its wise to leave Japan." Amon said opening the fridge and retrieving a drink. Amon's choice of words caused Nagira to throw an annoyed glance back at this baby brother, leaving Robin a little confused.
"Well then, I guess it's not a waste that I cleaned the apartment then." Robin said, seating herself in a chair next to the couch.
Nagira lit up a cigarette. "Guess not."
A/N: Reviews would be much appreciated, and I realize that this is rather short buts it's a prolouge XD. Also, I love the quote at the top, I believe it applies nicely to many things.
