Not rich, not blond and not British, so I don't own Harry Potter at all. Just playing around that is all. No money made from this.

Summary:

His parents were death eaters, that had him cast out of the magical world and left to the muggles. Yet Harry refuses to go dark or evil he is not his parents after all.

So, yes, Harry's parents are death eaters, and they were pretty bad. Severus Snape never became a death eater and fought them. He is a war hero and Neville Longbottom is the boy who lived. Harry is two years older here and no, he will never join Voldemort nor any dark lord or lady.

Chapter One: Badgering Others:

Harry saw the hostel looks, there was no reason for it at all. His parents death eaters of the worst sort, they were dead now and he was glad for it. He was given to the muggle world and his evil aunt and uncle, well they were in prison and he had been raised in a kindly home with sweet elderly sisters who had got their dream to raise orphan children. He was loved and treated kindly despite what his parents had been, had done. He was not going down that path at all, he had been raised right and would never betray those that had taken him in.

Yet the goblins had been kindly to him. The Potter wealth was gone but not the Fleamont, and while it was not much he could live off it even if his children could not. It came with a house, a four-bedroom home on five acres of land right on the edge of a nature preserve. He would have to find work and knew that the magical world was closed to him even at the tender age he was. Why would they want a constant reminder of the wrong his parents had done with him around? Best to force him back to the muggle world. He rubbed his shoulder from the curse sent his way on the train, and the words that followed.

"You will do fine." Fred Weasley said next to him.

"Yes, you did nothing wrong, the Flint family are death eaters to the man." George added.

"But he was right, I have no future in this world." Harry replied.

"I think you do." Fred said.

"We will follow you to whatever house you go to, we promised." George added.

Harry nodded and followed the other first years into the great hall. He was nervous, no way was he going to Slytherin, that would get him tossed to Azkaban if what Flint said was correct. No, and he did not feel like Gryffindor either. Soon it was his turn and the hat, for hat it was ended up on his head. It explored his mind and he sat scared, worried and not wanting to go anywhere he would stand out. Minutes to him passed but to the other students only seconds had passed before the hat said one house that got Harry to feel relief. When the hat called Hufflepuff he walked to that table and took a seat. He was not surprised to just get glares, his parents had been pretty evil.

"I am not my parents, they were vile evil people." Harry said, "I swear off all evil and the like."

"I still don't like you here." Evan Bones, the nephew and older brother of Susan Bones said, "your parents did a lot of evil and your mother a muggleborn!"

"I know, but I will be like my grandparents, who were good people." Harry replied.

"We will be watching you closely." Adam Antonio a fifth year said.

"I welcome that." Harry replied.

Fred and George joined him at the Hufflepuff table and sat one on each side. They claimed to all there that they would make sure Harry did not stray and Harry thanked them. Soon the sorting was done and there was food of all sorts on the table. He ate well with the sisters who after twenty years had got their dream to help children and so were a bit indulgent at times. They were nothing like the surely angry nuns that Harry only heard of. He ate well with good manners. Once dinner was over he headed to the Hufflepuff common room and found the space to his liking.

Once everyone got through the tunnel they came into a large round room with what looked like a domed ceiling. There were comfy chairs scattered around and in the center of the room a round fireplace. The first years gathered around where Pomona Sprout was waiting beaming at them, even Harry. There was something in her eyes at seeing him, sadness and he knew why. He was grateful to look more like his grandfather Potter though his eyes were green, like his evil mother. He did not need glasses so that helped him not look like his father.

"Welcome to Hufflepuff." Sprout said, "you were sorted here for a reason, a good reason. No matter where or whom you came from you are welcome here. We do not fight other houses, we are kind, hardworking and helpful. If you have problems please come to the sett to work through them. If it is with another house, please bring that to me, do not attack others. We are the house of peace and light. Mr. Potter you had something to say?"

"Yes professor." Harry said, "I know I am hated for what my parents did. I am sorry for the hurt they caused and I would like to swear I will never use dark magic or go evil and hurt others. May I be struck dead if I ever do, mother magic judge me!"

Very few dared even ask to be judged, it was a scary thing and for Harry to ask for this meant he was not his parents. There was a glow around him and it faded into his skin, he giggled for it felt so good and those here saw he really was not evil. They would help him and protect him from the evil his parents had done. He was not his parents and did not deserve to be judged for the evil they had done. They would protect him against any who would come after him.

"Alright, he is fine by me." Evan said, "welcome to Hufflepuff."

"Yes welcome." Adam said.

Harry felt good about those here welcoming him, he knew the rest of the school would hate him but he knew he was not going to be evil. Not like how his parents had been, he would bring the Potter name back from what his parents had done to it. He followed Fred and George, the only other Hufflepuff and he had his evil parents to thank for that in part to their dorm. It was a large space for far more children and it felt very large. Harry found his bed and truck, he knew it had been searched but he had expected that. Which was why he had bought a standard school trunk and left his grandfather's trunk in his vault.

Harry barely remembered getting to sleep that night. He woke early to bird song, and forgot for a moment they were underground as he could see outside the windows a fine late summer morning. He was up and ready as soon as Fred and George and once ready they were lead to the great hall for breakfast. Once there they got their timetables and Harry nearly groaned, he had potions and defense on the same day, both men hated him and they had a right to, after what his parents had done.

"Great way to start school." Harry said, "professor Snape and professor Black, they both hate me."

"We will be there." Fred said.

"Yes, we will, do not worry, what you did last night, well it's supposed to be secret."

"Which means everyone knows." Adam said with a smile.

"That a good thing?" Harry asked.

"You will see." Evan said taking a seat.

That first week was very good, well as good as it could be for Harry. Students watched him go by already hearing the judgment he had called on himself. One simply did not do that if they were guilty of anything. His parents were evil though and no matter his stance he had to pay, right? Harry earned points in all his classes that first week, it was an introductory week to get the first years used to magic. So no spells just theory and the professors showing them what a few years of training would get them able to do.

Harry found Snape a hard cold teacher, but he was good at what he did. He refused to have anything to do with Harry and Harry so wanted to apologize for what his mother had done. Being tortured by your childhood friend had to hurt. Harry stayed back at the end of the class and Snape glared at him. Harry felt for him, how could his parents turn out how they had? Why did they turn and do what they did?

"I am sorry for what my evil parents did." Harry said, "I really mean that. I knew they were criminals when I was growing up, but not what they did, and when I found out, I am sorry sir."

"Spoken like a true Potter." Snape said coldly, "your grandfather rescued me."

"I want to be like him, fight evil not join it." Harry said.

"Your apology is accepted, now get." Snape said, "before I have you boil eel heads in detention."
"Yes sir." Harry said.

He felt the talk had gone well and really was not looking forward to the next class. He was surprised that professor Black allowed him in the class. The man was his godfather but wanted nothing to do with him. He took a seat with Fred and George like he did in every class, but he was not allowed to stay long. He was moved to a front seat and told to had in his wand to professor Black. The reason why got the whole class to turn on Black as one.

"I don't need slimly death eater scum to shoot me in the back." Black said coldly. "Hand over your wand."

"No professor Black I will not." Harry said, "my parents were evil but I am not."

"He had mother magic judge him!" Fred said.

"Too right professor Black." George added.

"He fooled you all." Black said.

"That is it, I am leaving." Harry said, "I am sorry you hate me so much, I will not be taking your class."

Harry walked out and headed to professor Sprout's office, she had a free period and on seeing him had tea before him quickly. Harry broke down and sobbed, he was not evil he did not hurt others, and yet even his godfather wanted nothing to do with him. Sprout went to the fireplace and threw green powder on it and stuck her head in. In a moment an elderly man, the headmaster came through and took a seat. He saw a broken little boy before him and he knew what had happened. He knew what Harry had done and had hope for the boy.

"He thinks I am evil!" Harry said, "I am sorry for walking out of class."

"I will reverse the points he has taken and no detention, he was in the wrong here." Dumbledore said, "You do need to learn defense and I have one who is willing to teach you. I had this set up incase something like this happened."

"Why don't you hate me sir?" Harry asked.

"When I found you were in a children's home and then the report from Minerva that you were happy and that you had helped others I wanted to help. I would have helped you even if you had turned out more bitter and dark, I made a mistake decades ago that lead to the creation of a dark lord. Many promising students joined him, I now focus on this school alone, I will not make the mistakes I made before."

"I can't go let him teach me." Harry said.

"And he will not, you will be taught by Murel Prewett." Dumbledore said, "I do hope you do not mind her teaching you manners as well, she tends to be one who likes to do that."

"I do not mind headmaster sir.' Harry said, "thank you sir."

"Like I said I have made mistakes, I intend to do better and be better." Dumbledore said.

By the end of the day Harry felt a bit better and even more so when Black came to dinner with green hair. He knew that the twins had a hand in that though he could not prove it. It still hurt that his godfather hated him so much when it was his parents who did the evil deeds not him. He ate well and after dinner went to do his essays so that he would not fall behind. Fred and George were a great help to him in this regard.

The next week he started lessons with madam Prewett and the twins begged to be there. She was their aunt and though strict it was clear she loved them and had made them the heirs to the Prewett line. She had spoken to Molly at length about Harry on meeting him and after a few oaths he gladly gave she stated he was a good lad. He was humble, hardworking and helped keep Fred and George in line. He was very good for the lads and was willing to learn how to be a positive member of society.

It was a mystery why Lily Potter a muggleborn would join Voldemort who was all about purebloods but there you had it, she had. She was nearly as depraved as Bellatrix and had helped kill Frank and Alice after brutally torturing them. Voldemort had tried to take out Neville but the protections his mother put in place held and he lived. Lily had been taken along with James and tried, convicted and executed along with anyone who was marked. Lucius Malfoy had not gotten away with his so called defense this time.

"You are a good lad." Murel said, "never doubt that Harry."

"Yes madam Prewett, but my parents."

"Went bad but you have not, and will not." Murel countered, "I believe in you."

Harry's first year went on, he found that Lee Jordan of Gryffindor and Angelica Johnson became friends. Cedric Diggory, one year ahead became a friend too and helped him out so much. He found Hogwarts to be as much a home as the children's home and though some still hated him, most were finding him to be better than his parents. The oaths he swore helped a lot in that. By June after his first year exams were over he felt like he could be himself. There was one small problem and that was Sirius Black who saw him in the headmaster's office at the end of the year.

"Now you want something to do with me?" Harry said coldly, "I am sorry but no."

"I am your godfather, you just need guidance to not go the wrong path, I will help there." Sirius said.

"What with hexes and beatings when you think I strayed?" Harry asked, "my parents betrayed you, I never did. I will not go with you."

"I could take this through the courts." Sirius threatened.

"And you would loose." Dumbledore said, "you never took him in before now, the courts will not let you have him now. He will go with madam Prewett, she has legal claim as she is helping raise two heirs to her house, the old laws."

"I see the old laws, yes she would have that right." Sirius said.

"As the heir to two old houses, I have accepted her offer." Harry replied coldly.

"Of course, fine, go with her, but when he goes dark…"

"Go back to your cold house." Harry said, "the fires burn down and it is your brother who holds the heirship and has new heirs himself, I thought we could start something but I would prefer to not be in a house where I am hated and treated badly."

"As if you deserve better." Sirius snarled.

"Sirius you have one year left on your contract, I may not extend it." Dumbledore warned, "the curse is gone as I broke it but that does not mean I need to keep you. You lost three students this year and I am not happy for that."

Harry was in awe at how Dumbledore protected him and wanted him to be safe and happy. He saw how he actively made sure each house was heard and how the students felt safe here. He had seen to it that students did not go back to abusive homes and now was making sure that Harry was safe. Harry felt respect for the ancient wizard and vowed to never let him down. By June he headed to his new home hopes higher than they had ever been and hope he could get past the evil his parents had done and been seen for himself and not for what his parents did.

So a new fiction, and one where Harry's parents went to Voldemort but Harry here refuses to follow in their footsteps. He has to show he is not evil and it is a hard road for him, but aside from his relations he has been raised right. Dumbledore is a good guy and means what he says in he would help Harry even if he went dark. He is headmaster of Hogwarts and that is it.

Do not be too harsh on Sirius, he lost his friends to Voldemort a man his parents loved and tortured him for refusing to join. Him seeing Harry gets him not thinking clear at all. He is going to have to work through his hatred and realize Harry is not his parents here. Oh and once Neville comes into the story, he is far stronger than in cannon and not very happy. But that does not happen until Harry's third year.

Anyway, do review please!
