A few days later...
"Paw Patrol, to the Lookout!"
"Ryder needs us!" The pups ran towards the Lookout, but noticed someone wasn't there.
"Where's Marshall?" Skye asked.
No crash, no tumble, no pun. Nothing.
The other five rose to the top, were placed in their outfits, and assumed positions.
"Paw Patrol, ready for action, Ryder sir!" Chase said.
"Thanks for hurrying, pups," Ryder said. "We have an unprecedented six emergencies, one for each of you."
"Wow," the pups said.
"Chase, there's a giant dinosaur heading toward Adventure Bay."
"Cool," Chase said, and Rocky seconded him.
"He's huge, as in bigger than Ebirah. I don't recognize the species, but he's coming into town. I need you to direct traffic around him and try and get him to a safe place."
"Chase is on the case."
"Skye, there's a huge praying mantis flying around City Hall," Ryder said. "I need you to fly towards the thing and distract from the town."
"Let's take to the sky!" Skye did her squeal and backflip.
"As for Marshall, his emergency was the most urgent, hence why I sent him already. A fire broke out at the museum, and no one knows why. A strange red cloud is there."
"I hope he gets everyone out," Skye said.
"Rubble," Ryder said," "Farmer Al and Yumi are reporting massive tunnels on their farm. I need you to figure out what's going on, and fill in the holes with your digger."
"Rubble on the double."
"Zuma, Ebirah's been attacking boats at the dock."
"Jeez, that dude has problems. I just saved those swimmers from him yesterday."
"I know," Ryder said. "I need you to use your buoy to save anyone trapped on the boats."
"Ready, set, get wet."
"And Rocky," Ryder said, "there's a weird problem at Mr. Porter's. When he went to serve water, a strange black sludge came out of the pipes. And there's more in the trashcans in the back. I need you to figure out what the problem is and fix the pipes."
"Green means go."
"All right," said Ryder, "Paw Patrol is on a roll."
The pups all barked and went down the slide, their pup houses transforming into their vehicles, and drove away, with Chase's siren blaring as always.
Chase
Chase drove into town, keeping a lookout for the giant dinosaur. "At least he won't be hard to find," he said to himself.
Rounding a corner, he came upon the beast. A huge beast resembling an ankylosaur, with one rhino-like horn on the snout and six on top of the head, brown scales with yellow spikes on the carapace, and a long tail tipped with a spiky club. The beast's wide eyes suggested docility, as did his gentle ambling through town.
Nonetheless, Chase knew that the creature was simply too big to safely navigate through town. As cars tried to evade the giant ankylosaur, Chase pulled out his megaphone.
"Attention, please," he barked. "This is an emergency. A giant dinosaur is in Adventure Bay. I need you all to follow me."
For some time, Chase directed traffic, helping the various cars safely move around, before finally driving up close to the huge dinosaur.
"Wow," Chase said. He had never seen a creature so huge.
"Arf, follow me."
The huge beast looked down, wondering what he was looking at. He nudged the vehicle with his horn, accidentally making the sirens blare. At this, the dinosaur roared a loud roar that shattered windows, before charging.
Chase drove as fast as he could, well past the speed limit. The giant dinosaur lumbered after him like a charging rhino, determined to take down this challenger.
"I gotta ask Rex about this guy," Chase said to himself. He tapped his Pup Pad, and sure enough, the wheelchair-bound mountain dog appeared.
"Hi, Chase," Rex said. "What's up?"
"What's up is that one of your dinos escaped and is chasing me through town. Do you know what this guy is?"
Chase pointed the camera backwards to show the charging dino. A sign in Chase's window read "Objects may be closer than they appear."
"Oh, that's not just a dinosaur," Rex said, laughing. "That's Anguirus."
"Wait, you know this guy?" Chase asked, incredulous.
"Sure, he's been sleeping under the Dino Wilds for years. When he burrowed away a week ago, we though the meteor spooked him and he was going somewhere else."
"I think I accidentally angered him. He nudged my cop car, and the siren made him go nuts."
"He communicates through sound," Rex said. "He also has a sonic roar, so sound waves are important."
"That explains why the windows blew out," Chase said. "How do I calm him down?"
"I dunno, find an easy listening station or something. Those are nice and soothing."
Chase groaned. He didn't really like easy listening music, but anything to save the town.
"Thanks, Rex. We'll talk later."
Chase hung up, and set his radio on autodial while Anguirus continued his pursuit. Finally, he landed on the easy listening station, and stopped the car. Smooth saxophone sounds came out, and while Chase groaned, Anguirus seemed to stop. He leaned down, and nuzzled the cop car in a similar fashion to the pups.
"Huh, you're not so bad, are you?" Chase said, laughing. He reached out a paw, and touched Anguirus. The ankylosaur made contented sounds, and fell asleep.
Skye
Skye flew around City Hall, high above her mission. Below her, a colossal green mantis shrieked and poked at the top of City Hall. The insect slashed and stabbed at the roof, making infernal shrieks and chirps.
Skye could sense this insect was not friendly, and zoomed down to where the mantis could see her.
"Usually, bugs are even littler than I am," she said. She made eye contact with the mantis, who angrily shrieked and beat her wings. She raised her arms, and swatted at Skye's helicopter. Skye zoomed away, and the mantis beat her wings ferociously before rising into the sky and following Skye.
Skye cried out, terrified as the giant mantis pursued her, clearly intent on eating her. She decided to fly towards Jake's Mountain, knowing the cold may weaken the insect. The mantis continued her pursuit, beating her wings and narrowing her eyes at Skye.
Marshall
Marshall stopped his fire truck and jumped out. The fire was spreading, and much of the museum was already in flames.
"Arf, water cannons!" he cried, and the cannons came out. They started spraying, and about ten minutes later, the fire was extinguished.
However, the strange red cloud was still there. And rising from the cloud was an enormous creature. The beast was shaped like a chimpanzee or a polar bear, but with the warty green covering of a toad. A small row of horns on top of the head and a shock of orange fiber resembling hair completed the picture. The beast's hands sparked with pinkish lightning.
"Oh, boy," Marshall said.
Oh-wo-wo-wo-wawr-wawr-waaawwr! The creature's strange warbling roar echoed, and he tossed electricity at his surroundings.
"So that's why the fire started," Marshall said. He narrowed his eyes, and fired more Water Cannons. The water touched the electric current, and the creature stopped. He then looked down at Marshall, and warbled again. With visible glee, the creature sent a blast of electricity at Marshall. The dalmatian leapt out of the way, narrowly avoiding being struck. He then ran, and the huge creature pursued him. Marshall jumped into his fire truck, and sped into the distance, the giant creature continuing to follow.
Rubble
Rubble drove to Farmer Al and Yumi's farm, blasting music. He parked, then jumped down.
"Hmm, let's see here..." He was surprised to find not one, but two enormous holes. Each was about the size of a football field, and many of Yumi's crops had been damaged.
"Okay, I sure don't recognize this," he said.
"Rubble, thank goodness," Farmer Al said. "These holes appeared last night, and we've got no idea what happened."
"I'll figure this out," Rubble said, smiling. He sniffed around the holes, and found an unusual scent. The scent was reptilian, almost like a lizard, but much bigger. He could also smell fire and smoke, and could feel tremendous heat coming from the hole.
Soon enough, a mass of dirt erupted from beneath, sending Rubble back. When he got up, he saw an enormous red dinosaur, with a quadrupedal stance and huge yellow digging claws. The head reminded Rubble somewhat of his own, but with huge bat-like ears and a yellow horn on the forehead. The beast let out a strange roar, and scarfed down two entire mountains of hay.
"Hey, that's not your hay," Rubble said, and jumped into his rig. He drove towards the red dinosaur, and turned on the equipment.
"Okay, we're gonna do the battle of the diggers."
Zuma
Zuma zoomed his hovercraft repeatedly through the water, kicking up waves as he rescued one person after another from the rapidly sinking boat.
"Come on, dudes, you can do this," he said.
Ebirah rose out of the water, huge red pinchers clacking, and shrieked into the sea air. He splashed with his claws, completely drenching both Zuma and the boat. He then grabbed a struggling woman, and moved her toward his waiting jaws.
"Oh, no you don't," Zuma said, speeding up his hovercraft to ram into the lobster's hard shell.
Ebirah did not even notice, and Zuma decided to hop off the hovercraft and actively climb up Ebirah to get to the woman.
He barely managed to rescue her from the fearsome jaws, and held her tight.
"Ready, we're gonna jump."
The woman cried out as Zuma and her jumped into the water, and he swam her towards the hovercraft, before speeding the vehicle some distance from the marauding lobster.
"Stay here," he said. "I'm gonna get the others."
Rocky
Rocky drove up to Mr. Porter's via the back entrance. He knocked on the door, and Mr. Porter let him in.
"Thanks for coming, Rocky. I've had guests thirsty all day. No water, no juice, nothing. I can barely even make the food."
"Well, that's why I'm here," Rocky said. "Show me this sludge."
Mr. Porter showed Rocky where the pipes were, and Rocky used his pincer claw to try and find the source of the sludge.
"Come on, come on..."
Suddenly, a great wave of black slime poured out, and Rocky only just avoided being sprayed. He noticed that every appliance that made contact with the sludge was sizzling away, and he gasped.
"Mr. Porter can't be here," he said. "But first I gotta figure out what this is."
Using one of his many tools, he grabbed a sample of the sludge to put in an airtight jar, and walked out.
"Mr. Porter, you're gonna have to leave."
"What? But this is my restaurant - and my house."
"I know, but that sludge is toxic. You, Alex, and your customers are in danger."
"What's that?" he asked, pointing to the jar.
"That's a sample," Rocky said, smiling. "I'm gonna analyze this back at the Lookout." He turned serious again. "I wouldn't go back in there, if I were you."
Inside the jar, the sludge moved, unbeknownst to Rocky or Mr. Porter.
Back at the Lookout, everyone was discussing what had happened.
"And then he just fell asleep," Chase said, eagerly retelling the story of his showdown with Anguirus.
"Cool," everyone said simultaneously. Skye particularly seemed impressed.
"I don't think he's a threat," said Chase. "How about your mantis, Skye?"
"Well, she's not friendly, at all. Only by flying to Jake's Mountain did I get her off my tail. If I hadn't gone there, she'd have eaten me whole."
Marshall sighed. "I just barely escaped that thing," he said. "Only by driving to Foggy Bottom could I get him to switch attention."
"So you basically fobbed him off onto Mayor Humdinger," Chase said.
"Maybe," Marshall said, and laughed.
Rubble handed one of his pup treats to Marshall. "Here," he said.
"Aren't you hungry still?"
"Of course, I had quite a workout."
"How did that go?" asked Chase.
"Kinda like yours," Rubble said. "The holes were caused by another big dinosaur, but he had floppy ears and a heat ray."
"Did you get him to stop digging up Yumi's farm?"
"Uh, not really. He's even better a digger than I am." He then laughed. "And he has my appetite."
They all laughed at this. Zuma was polishing his surfboard, exhausted after rescuing the people from Ebirah's clutches, while Rocky walked in with a tray.
"How's your analysis going, Rocky?" Chase asked.
"Well, I found something pretty strange," Rocky said. "The sludge is actually a bunch of tadpoles."
"Wait, like polliwogs?" Marshall asked.
"Sort of, but they're made of muck," said Rocky. "They aren't animals, and the material has more in common with space gas than anything on Earth."
"Wait, you mean-" Chase asked.
"Yes, they're alien life forms," Rocky answered. "I think they hitched a ride on one of the meteors, and came to Earth that way."
"So, to recap," said Zuma, "We've got Ebirah, Anguirus, the condors, the bear-chimp-toad, this thing Rubble fought, the mantis, and these micro creatures?"
"Yep," said Marshall.
Ryder then came in. "Pups, we've got names for the new creatures. The giant mantis flew in from Japan, where the locals dubbed her Kamacuras. The dinosaur Rubble fought is called Baragon, according to Rex. The creature that started the fire is Gabara. And I think Chase already told you about the other one."
"Wait, Baragon is from the Dino Wilds?" Rubble asked.
"Seems like he is," Ryder said. "Rex said he's descended from some kind of proto-mammal, so he's not actually a dinosaur."
"That explains the ears."
"Okay, pups, we've had a pretty big day. Let's all get some sleep."
The pups begrudgingly settled down, while the world outside continued as is. Only Anguirus was awake.
The huge dinosaur toddled down to the sea, standing on a hill. He then bellowed out, across the ocean, waiting for a response. Then, using his fine senses, he heard one.
"Skreeeoonk."
