A/N: I own nothing, firstly. Also, sorry about the pretty much abandonment of this account, I had writer's block but I started taking anti-depressants which seems to be helping. This story comes from a prompt from somewhere about Annabeth, Leo, and Nico being a feral homeless trio. I expanded it so, there are other Riordanverse cameos but no real spoilers. Some other stuff, but Percy really doesn't exist in this universe and I changed the age of Leo and when Esperanza and Nathalie die. I do have a three-shot and a longer fic in the works. I will probably write more for this au? I don't know. On with the fic!
She was seven when she ran away. Away from her house, her half-brothers, Virginia. She ran to Tennesee. She ran into him. He was seven, too, and he was running.
They banded together and ran. On the streets, they didn't have the luxury of bathing or regular meals, but they learned to steal, and once, when she stole scissors, he cut her hair to a more manageable choppy shoulder length.
It was better, easier, in the winter, when it was often too cold for shopowners to properly lock their stores but they weren't cold because he had fire. They could bathe, in the winter, in melted snow.
He was nine when they found someone new in Las Vegas. He didn't have memories so she found a way to give them back and two became three.
There were people who they didn't want finding them (her family, social services, his sister) so she was called Nat, from her aunt, he was Ash, after his fire, and he was Angel, for his last name. Nat and Ash and Angel. They had other options, too, in case someone found them (Alphabet or Owl or Nat, Lion or Flame or Ash, Victory or Shadow or Angel) but Nat and Ash and Angel were good as any.
When they were ten, three ghosts started haunting Angel. He learned from the one in grey, but the trio had to banish them. In the Underworld, they were the kings and the queen, the Ghost King and the Fire King and the Judge Queen, set to be judges of the dead. In the mortal world, they were thee Disappearing Theif, the Merciless Vengeance, and the Cutthroat, to be feared and avoided.
She was the backbone and the glue, in the beginning, but as they grew, they didn't need glue, they were glued together as naturally as their skin muddying. She was the backbone.
They visited Boston when they were fourteen, stumbling upon her cousin. His mother had just died (killed like Ash's) and he joined their group as he turned thirteen.
Three became four. AnnabethLeoNico (NatAshAngel) became AnnabethLeoMagnusNico (NatAshChaseAngel) so fast it was scary. The streets gained a new terror (Lightspeed Scavenger) and the three didn't mind that they were Greek and he was not, they were lightanddarkandfireandsmart.
A few months later, they took in ice, a nine-year-old in an alley. He was Felix but to them, he was E. (or X or Ice) The Coldblood threatened America's peace.
A year later, when they were fifteen and fourteen and ten, they happened upon a camp on Long Island.
There is a centaur who has been training demigods for so long he cannot remember ever not. But when these strange children (everyone is a child to him) demand to live unseperated, and as he opens his mouth to refuse, the girl's glare turns to fire as the shadows back her up and the warm sunlight turns harsh and he feels a chill (like ice) race across him, leaving goosebumps in its wake, he relents. Two weeks later, with Ash as a child of Hephaestus and Nat claimed by Athena, they leave. No one knows what has become of them, not even the Olympians when Chiron asks on the solstice. No one thinks to ask Hades or Hestia or another pantheon.
There is no civil war and Gaea does not rise.
Among the immortals, news spreads about the powerful Blinding Assassin-Lord, the great Blizzard Destruction-Lord, the Ghost King and Fire King and Judge Queen.
When they have drunk their fill of life, they are twenty and nineteen and fifteen and they are gods. There is no more Olympian Council, only Dionysus and Apollo and Artemis remain despite most of their power being gone.
There are the five Ruthless Ones.
