I recoiled in shock as the hilichurl parried my sword with the wooden shield it got. I couldn't do much as it pulled back the shield faster then I could regain my balance. Everything slowed down as the damn creature's muscles tensed and got ready to splatter my brain all over the grass field. Was I really going to die like this? After years of training, all those mornings spent with swinging sword and running around Mondsat , that one time where I fallen down face plate as Grand Master Jean was passing hmmmm actually that memory wasn't a good one maybe I should be happy I will die here. Yeah that seems better than living in shame. Why am I still alive anyway.

As my mind stopped wandering I realised the shield Hilichurl was laying down a few meters away with a smoking arrow stabbing through its skull. A pair of legs landed beside me and a soft voice asked me

"Hey are you alright." I couldn't see their face as sun shined right behind them, only leaving me a sillouette to figure out who am I talking with. A rather known sillouette that I known personally. But with my recent near death experience my mind wasn't in its best condition and my mouth was ready to stab me in the back.

"A giant bunny." I said. Before said bunny pulled back its punch and struck my nose. It was nothing short of a miracle it didn't broke. But punch did its job to turn my brain back to expected levels of function.

"Ow, ow, come on I was in a daze a hilichurl parried me. Be a little forgiving Knight Amber. It was a fair missunderstanding."

"None of that now. Seeing that you can joke around is enough prove you are mostly unharmed. Still why didn't you asked for back up before leaving for Knight... sorry who were you again."

Ah... she doesn't remember me. Of course. It is not like I found her lost gidince license. And it is not like we had a patron 2 weeks ago. I wasn't disappointed at all. No sir. At least this also means she doesn't remembers the 300 mora I borrowed from her for lunch during our patrol. Deciding o stop my self monologue I got back up dusting my armour and sheating my Silver Sword. I raised my hand a salute as I answered her.

"Knight Flynn Ma'am. I joined two and a half month ago. I was tempted to wait for other knights for my daily patrol but seeing the Hilichurl reports were increasing I assumed everyone was already busy culling their numbers and decided to go on a patrol on my own."

While my salute caused her to smile slightly it didn't help the general mood since she gave a small sigh as she massaged side of her head with one hand she gestured me to join her to patrol rest of the area. At least maybe she would remember my name next time.

"You told me Hilichurl parried you. Surely you can't actually be bad enough to be parried by a one?"

Damn. Maybe it was better when she didn't know my name. Still I had to explain it now.

"No, I would never be accepted as a knight if I were that bad at using sword. I got rid of fo-five previous Hilichurls easily and made the shield Hilichurl drop its club. It raised its shield in defence as I intented to decapitate it but unlike other Hilichurls weapons and armor my sword didn't shattered the shield. It was in a better quality than I expected. Rest is where you came in."

"I see. Not only a increasing number but also better weapons huh. This might be important. While I can't encourage you to go patrols alone you did a good job. I better report this to Jean. You go tend your wounds Knight Flynn."

Before waiting my reply she quickly went ahead as I realised we were at the gates of the Mondstadt. I was of course left behind.

Not seeing much use on tending wounds as they were mere scratches at best I payed a visit to blacksmith to sharpen my sword. I wasn't thrilled to fail against another Hilichurl. As I waited blacksmith to finish his job I checked my armour. It was a basic Knight of Favonius armour set with a few scratches and very slightly over my size as I borrowed it until a one for my size was made. My hands went into my pockets as I leaned against the wall. Being a knight wasn't exactly like it was in the stories I grew up with. I had to keep a strict schedule and always keep my skills polished and we rarely hunted down a Abyss Dragon. I mean some members of the knights probably could slay a dragon in theory. Maybe Knight Kaeya since he had s vision. That brought my second issue. I didn't had a vision like some people. God's were suprisingly stingy about granting elemental powers, visions, but every slime I had seen could breath fire or zap me with electricty. Perhaps it was about a blind devotion. Slimes wouldn't have brain capacity to doubt their God or switch religions but humans could. Does that mean every vision user was a religious fanatic. Surely not. Why am I even thinking about this.

Not aware of my current heretical thoughts, blacksmith finished his job and pushed sword into my hands. In a rather rude way if I had to add. Honestly I at least expected more respect from public even if I didn't slay dragons. Still I had to give blacksmith my compliments. Blade was indeed sharper and cleaner. Paying the expenses necessary I started walking towards the Church of Barbatos to pray for an hour for an anemo vision. On my way a short girl in full green collided me and kept running while giving me half assed apologies. Honestly nerve of some people. As usual my prayers did fail to grant me a vision but I felt much more relaxed. Maybe churches really do heal the soul. Seeing Nun Barbara smile and say she hoped for me to visit church more had nothing to do with it. As I was now in high spirits I decided to visit back the other Knights to ask if there were any unusual reports. Aside from some people talking about a floating child there were only reports of Hilichurls so I wrote my name down o registery and grabbed one of the reports to get rid of more Hilichurls. This time with more knights as I didn't want to had more unfortunate incidents.

"Hey you there, Flynn right?" A blonde knight asked towards me.

"Yeah that would be me." Suprisingly this time I didn't recognise the other guy.

"Knight Amber asked about you, apparently you have 300 Mora indebted to her." Ah she remembers it.' "She also said be careful with shields." He said with a small snicker copied by many knights around.

Perhaps it was better when no one remembered my name.
