Okay, be honest, guys. How many of you have actually heard of the 1950s Zorro? I would assume few since most of us weren't living during the time it was on the air. But, I had the great honor to be introduced to it, after I fell in love with Antonio Banderas's version of the masked outlaw. My grandmother noticed how much I enjoyed those movies, so she got me some Walt Disney's Zorro for Christmas one year. It's an amazing show, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has access to Disney+. Guy Williams shines as Zorro!

The idea for this fanfic came when I was watching the series one night. I asked myself, "Zorro has never killed, right, so what if he did by accident?" Twas, The Torch of Zorro was born. It's a new draft of my Zorro fanfic that I wrote during high school, which you'll find in my memoir, Wait! I Wrote That?, on Wattpad. I love to play with character development in stories, and while Diego/Zorro's is brilliant in the show, I want to take it even further and prove that while he is a hero, he is still, indeed, human, and he makes mistakes. Therefore, one of the main themes I'm going to focus on in this book is humanity and what makes us human. To be a hero is not easy, especially if that hero does not have superpowers (Fun Fact: Zorro is considered one of the first "heroes" in all of literature).

I'm so, so excited to dive into this book and have fun with my favorite characters from the show! It's going to mark my third and final writing project for a while until I reach the next level of my writing career. I do not know how long it's going to be, but I guess we'll see. I really, really hope you guys will check out this different kind of Zorro story and ask questions about what makes people human in the first place.

With that said, it's time to dive into The Torch of Zorro!

Extended Blurb:

After he accidentally murders a man in battle, Zorro must overcome his guilt in order to keep his good name so that California does not lose their beloved hero under the new comandante's ruthless rule.

Diego de la Vega has been Zorro for a year, which has proven to be an amazing experience for him, but when a new comandante moves to Los Angeles and proves to be even more heinous than the others, Diego ups his game to show the people of California that no matter how evil a man may be, Zorro will always be there to protect them. His plan backfires when a bystander jumps into the fray during a confrontation with the comandante, leaving Zorro to accidentally kill his very first man.

Overwhelmed with guilt and fear, Diego vows to never don the mask again, but with the comandante's ruthless rule and no Zorro, Los Angeles is vulnerable and they need Zorro more than ever.

Will Bernardo and Diego's father help Diego regain his confidence, or will California lose the one hero they've looked up to for a whole year now: their very own El Zorro?

Please do NOT plagiarize this story! While I don't own these characters, I DO own this plot, and I don't need you guys taking advantage of it. If you want to write your own Zorro story, you have to do something different. Please do NOT make me turn on my bad side.
