Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well. This chapter has a lot going on, I hope I made it easy to follow. I was going to wait to post this, but figured I'd just go ahead. I have no idea when the next update will be.
Chapter 10
Looking at the clock on her laptop Arizona rolled her eyes sighing, she saved what she was working on then shut it down. Looking up she saw April standing in the doorway, giving her a half smile as she tucked the laptop into her bag, she took one more look at her desk to make sure she had everything, stood walking to the door, she turned, sighed again then reached for the light to turn it off. Shutting the door behind her, she saw April was ready to leave. "you ready?" she asked quietly
"no not really" Arizona sighed "but let's go do this" April nodded and followed Arizona to the elevator.
"are you coming with us?" Arizona asked as they pulled into the driveway.
"there really isn't room for me" April said shyly "I'll wait here"
"don't be nervous about meeting them"
"I'm trying not to be, but" Arizona remembered the reason her parents were coming, and the fact that Teddy neglected to tell them that she was in a relationship with a woman "I get it" she smiled as she turned off the car and got out. Inside Teddy was nowhere to be found Arizona called through the house "Theodora where the fuck are you? You aren't getting out of this"
"I know" she heard "chill out I'm pooping"
"well hurry up we have to get going"
"you can't rush this" Teddy said in a laugh
"whatever" Arizona mumbled as she climbed the stairs, making one last check on the guest room to make sure it was clean, and the bed made. Although she didn't know why she bothered, no one has slept in there since she'd moved in. She had Teddy wash the bedding, so it'd at least smell decent and not be covered in dust. Shaking her head as she made her way to her room, she sat her bag down on the bed, she felt her phone vibrate and start playing Callie's ringtone "hey baby"
"hi beautiful" Arizona felt herself turn red "how's it going?"
"be going better if Teddy would hurry up"
"what time does their plane get in again?"
"3" Arizona sighed, looking at the clock on the dresser
"you better get going, with traffic it'll take a bit to get there"
"trust me I know" she sighed, making her way back downstairs "hold on" she pulled the phone away from her ear "Teddy come on"
"chill out I'm done" she said coming out of the bathroom. April was sitting on the couch laughing. "alright I'm ready"
"good" she said as she turned to head out the door "baby, I'm going to let you go"
"ok"
"what time will you be home?"
"before you get back, I'm almost done here" she said Arizona could hear the click of the mouse "I'll have dinner started"
"alright sounds good"
"I love you"
"I love you too" Arizona said letting the phone slide down her arm catching it. She made sure it was off then stuck it in her pocket. As she climbed back in the car, Teddy not too far behind. "sorry" she said as she slid into the passenger seat, she gave her a small smile and backed out of the driveway.

"you'd think we'd be excited to see them" Teddy said as they walked to the baggage claim. They had decided to park and wait for them there
"I know" Arizona sighed "I am, I'm just not looking forward to the 20 million questions"
"sorry" Teddy said putting her head down
"it's not you" she sighed "we are going to tell them that we are both getting married"
"I think mom will be happy, I mean both her girls are getting married" Teddy smiled looking down at her hand, April had given her a ring, it wasn't nothing too fancy, but it meant the world to her.
"yeah maybe" Arizona sighed, Callie hadn't yet had a chance to get her one, even though they'd been engaged for a lot longer.

"hey girl" Callie smiled answering her phone
"hey yourself" Jamie laughed "have you given it yet?"
"no" Callie laughed "I was waiting to do it in front of her parents, you know do the whole down on one knee thing"
"wish I could see that"
"why don't you all come for dinner tonight" Callie said
"all of us?" Jamie asked
"yeah, I'll order in or something, I haven't decided yet"
"I'm surprised you don't want a quiet night for the parents first night here"
"nah, better to get it over with" Callie smiled, nodding to Joan who was working the desk on her way by.
"if you say so, what time?"
"hmm, maybe 6?"
"ok, I'll round up the cavalry and be there by 6" Jamie smiled "later"
"later" Callie shook her head as she climbed into her car. For a Friday traffic was pretty light, making her take less time than usual to get home. Closing the door behind her she called out "anybody home?"
"I am" April said quietly from the living room. "just watching some tv"
"good, you can help me"
"what do you need help with?"
"follow me" Callie nodded for April to follow her into the den, where she went to her safe, unlocking it with the key, and pulling out a little black box.
"what's that?"
"the ring I bought for Arizona" she said opening it
"how come you haven't given it to her yet?" April said examining it
"I was" she paused taking a deep breath "I was planning on doing it right, down on one knee"
"oh when?"
"well" she smiled "Jamie and the clan are coming for dinner"
"with Daniel and Barbara here?"
"yeah" she smiled again "so I thought tonight"
"what is for dinner?"
"well that's what you get to help me with" Callie winked "that's why I am home early"
"I noticed it's not even 2 yet" April smiled
"we need something that's going to feed 10 people"
"I'm on it" April smiled heading out of the room "Callie" she said stopping in the doorway
"yeah" Callie looked up
"how are they? Are they nice? You know, you've met them" she asked nervously
"they are amazing" she smiled "you needn't be nervous"
"yeah" April sighed turning to leave.

"there's our girls" Barbara said as she wrapped Teddy in a hug
"here we are" Teddy said squirming to get out of her mother's embrace
"I've missed my girls so much" Barbara said releasing Teddy and grabbing Arizona.
"we've missed you too mom" Arizona said embracing her. Truth be told she did miss her parents, even though they drove her nuts. She made a mental note to make sure to call more often, maybe even get them, or at least her mom into facetiming. "is this it?" Arizona nodded to the bags they were carrying.
"god no" Daniel said "you think your mother could go a week with just this little bag" he laughed nodding to the backpack size bag Barbara was carrying.
"no" Arizona laughed knowing Teddy was the same way.

"oh, Callie is already home" Arizona said pulling in the driveway
"weird" Teddy said already out of the car
"this is a nice house" Barbara said looking around
"there's a pool and hot tub out back" Arizona said slamming the trunk
"oh, you hear that Daniel, a pool and a hot tub"
"hot tub? In this heat?" he grumbled
"don't mind him, he didn't get his nap" Barbara said
"if that kid would have stopped kicking the back of my seat" he started to say but was cut off by Arizona "come on" she nodded towards the house "you can take a nap inside" she held the door open for them, as Teddy snuck by "yeah don't worry about me, I'm not carrying anything" she rolled her eyes as Teddy smiled. Sighing she kicked the door shut, only catching a glimpse of Teddy as she ran up the stairs. "well, let me show you to your room, then you can take a nap or whatever" she said nodding towards the stairs just as Callie appeared from the kitchen, with a smile saying "hello"
"hi baby" Arizona set down the suitcase, walking to Callie giving her a kiss "mom, dad you remember Callie"
"of course" Barbara smiled as she reached out pulling Callie into a hug "how are you honey?"
"I'm good" Callie smiled looking at Arizona who had to hold back a laugh, Barbara released her, she went to Daniel "Colonel" she reached out her hand "it's good to see you again"
"please, call me Daniel" he smiled taking her hand "no need to be so formal"
"alright" she smiled "well make yourself at home" she said turning back towards the kitchen "oh Arizona, once you get them settled, will you come find me"
"ok" Arizona smiled nodding for her parents to follow her up the stairs. "this is where you'll be sleeping" she said opening the door to the guest room "the bathroom is down the hall, you should find it"
"I'm sure we will honey" Barbara smiled
"bed's pretty comfy" Daniel said sitting down on the bed, kicking his shoes off he laid down, Arizona shook her head "anyway, I'm gonna go down and talk to Callie, take a nap or whatever" she smiled and left the room. Sighing as she made her way to the kitchen. Stopping in the doorway hearing Callie singing she smiled "I hope you'll take Jamie up on her offer"
"what for me to sing with her? doubtful" Callie said not turning around
"well I think your voice is amazing" Arizona said as she wrapped her arms around her, Callie leaned into her "speaking of Jamie" she said in an almost whisper "they are all coming for dinner"
"that would explain why you're preparing stuff then" Arizona smiled kissing her cheek
"yeah" Callie closed her eyes enjoying the feeling of being in Arizona's arms. That didn't happen too often, most the time it was Callie who had Arizona like this. Turning her head, she locked her lips with Arizona's. In the middle of a tongue dueling battle, they were broken apart by someone clearing their throat. Relieved when it was just April, Teddy not far behind saying "get a room"
"we have a whole house, thank you very much" Arizona smiled giving Callie another peck and moving away
"where are mom and dad?"
"pretty sure dad is napping and I'm not sure about mom"
"good" April sighed
"putting off the inevitable?" Arizona laughed
"yeah"
"she's nervous" Callie laughed "although I told her not to be your parents are amazing"
"well with what we have to tell them, I'm" she was cut off by Barbara's voice "what is it you have to tell us?"
"nothing" Teddy quickly added "mom this is April"
"ahh the famous April" Barbara said moving towards her with her arms out "how on earth did you get my daughter to fall for you?"
"um, just lucky I guess" April said shyly, Barbara let her go with a smile
"Arizona, I could use a drink, what do you have"
"I can put some coffee on" Callie said, reaching for the towel and drying her hands.
"that'd be lovely honey" she said sitting down at the table, as the rest joined her
"mom, I hope you don't mind but some friends of ours are coming for dinner" Arizona said
"what? Who?" Teddy asked confused
"who do you think?" Arizona said shaking her head
"oh Jamie and Sarah" Teddy laughed
"along with Laura and Jo" Callie said setting a hot cup of coffee in front of Barbara "would you like cream or sugar?"
"no thank you dear, I like my coffee like I like my men, strong and black"
"mom" Arizona said embarrassed
"what?" Barbara asked confused as Teddy laughed
"nothing" Arizona sighed
"so April, tell me where are you from? Is that a midwestern accent I hear"
"yes it is" April smiled "you know where Marquette is?"
"Marquette Michigan?" she asked just to make sure
"yup" April smiled "it's a small town about 15 miles from there"
"so not far from us" Barbara asked taking a drink of her coffee "Callie this is amazing"
"thanks, I got it from this coffee shop I frequent often" she said.
"you'll have to take us there while we are here" Barbara smiled
"I'd love to" Callie smiled
"yeah considering I've never been there" Arizona said in a rather jealous tone
"you've been there" Callie said, "right after we got together, it's that place not far from the hotel, remember"
Arizona made a face, as if she didn't remember then all the sudden it clicked "the one with the guy who was hitting on me?"
"yes" Callie laughed "that was gay Jake from the coffee shop" she heard the group start to giggle "what? That's what we call him"
"ok" Teddy laughed, getting up from the table heading towards the fridge "is dad sleeping?" she asked
"yes, thank god, he is such a grump when he's tired"
"must run in the family" April said looking at Teddy
"Theodora is definitely her father's daughter"
"and hungry" Arizona laughed "speaking of which" she could feel her stomach start to growl "when are they getting here?"
"any time now" Callie said looking at the clock, as if on cue the doorbell rang
"I'll get it" Teddy said jumping out of her chair, leaving her mother staring at April, who was trembling
"so April" Barbara smiled "you're Arizona's assistant?"
"yeah" April squeaked out, she cleared her throat "yes I am"
"how is it working for her? Is she a hard ass?"
"I actually rather enjoy it" April said moving in her chair making herself more comfortable
"we are a perfect pair" Arizona smiled "I got lucky"
"no I'm the lucky one" April smiled, as Teddy came in with Jamie, Sarah, Laura, and Jo in tow
"mom this is Jamie, Sarah, Laura, and Jo"
"twins?" Barbara asked
"how could you tell" Jamie laughed, Barbara smiled nodding towards Teddy, who was now standing next to Arizona. "it's nice to meet you Mrs. Robbins"
"please it's Barbara" she smiled
"my dad is napping" Teddy said taking her place at the table
"I'll wake him up in time for supper, he's a real bear if he doesn't get his afternoon nap" Barbara said taking a drink of her coffee
"Callie sorry we are early" Jamie mentioned looking at the clock
"It's all good, have a seat, you want anything to drink?"
"I'll have some coffee" Sarah said looking at Barbara's cup "is that the coffee from?" she didn't have to finish
"The Jolt?" Callie smiled then nodded
"oh good" Sarah smiled looking at Jamie, who said "great no sleep tonight"
"oh, please you love it when I'm wired off caffeine"
"ugh" Jamie laughed leaning over kissing Sarah on the cheek
"so, you two are together?" Barbara asked
"yes, been married for" Jamie paused; Sarah cut in saying "4 years"
"right" Jamie laughed
"I'm sorry but where have I seen you before?" Barbara asked "you look so familiar"
"um" Jamie laughed, looking down, Teddy pulled out her phone and started playing one of Jamie's songs.
"oh I like that song" Barbara said as she started to sing along, as Jamie started in meeting the same tone she used when she recorded that song. "oh my god, you're that Jamie"
"yes" Jamie smiled "I'm Jamie Davis"
"oh my gosh, I'm talking to a celebrity"
"mom stop" Arizona laughed
"it's ok" Jamie smiled
"aren't you from Wisconsin?" she asked Jamie nodded "why are you out here? Oh, that's a stupid question it's LA who wouldn't be out here"
"actually, Barbara I'm here because I'm a judge on The Voice this season" Jamie smiled "and Arizona is editing Sarah's book"
"you're a writer?" Barbara looked at Sarah
"I am" Sarah smiled
"is that how you guys met?" Barbara asked, Arizona couldn't help but roll her eyes at how annoying her mom was being "no mom, actually we met on accident on the beach"
"Sarah and I were messing around by the water and these two stalkers came by staring at us" Jamie laughed
"that is not what happened" Arizona protested
"I seem to remember that way" Sarah chimed in
"yeah me too" Callie said sitting down at the table finally joining them as she had everything ready that could be ready for dinner
"thanks gang up on me" Arizona smiled, laughter erupted from the group. "fine whatever" she said throwing her hands in the air
"and what about you two" Barbara asked looking at Laura and Jo
"well" Laura said clearing her throat, Jo chimed in "we met because I'm a contestant on The Voice" she smiled
"oh wow" Barbara said "remind me to watch it when it comes on" the next season wasn't set to air for another month
"it won't be on until next month Barbara, you have time" Jamie winked
"well remind me, now I'm excited"
"so um, Callie, why are we all here?" Laura asked "not that I mind a free meal but"
"you're here because you're our friends" Callie smiled giving Jamie a look, and a nod to follow her, but before they could make it out of the kitchen, Daniel came in saying "I'm up from my nap, now where's that pool" as laughter erupted from the kitchen, he looked at Jamie "hey I know you, you're that singer Arizona likes, Jamie Davis"
"yes, that's me, and you must be Arizona and Teddy's dad"
"Daniel Robbins" he smiled reaching out his hand
"nice to meet you Mr. Robbins"
"call him Daniel" Barbara said from the table, Jamie nodded with a smile
"dad, the pools out back, come on let me show you" Teddy said getting up leading him to the back
"you know, I have yet to see this pool" Barbara said standing up and following them.

"so what's your plan?" Jamie asked
"well" Callie looked around to make sure Arizona wouldn't hear. "I figured I'd get Barbara going on some random story, and then in the middle of it get down on one knee and ask"
"ok" Jamie let out a chuckle
"you don't think that will work?"
"it could, I don't know, but I do know Arizona, and" she paused "you know what that's a great plan" she smiled
"ok" Callie said taking a deep breath. The timer in the kitchen went off, "guess it's show time"

"so Barbara" Callie said, dinner was over and they were all sitting out by the pool enjoying the weather and some drinks. "tell me about"
"wait let me stop you there" Teddy said "I don't really want to hear a mom story right now, it'll kill the buzz I have going" Callie nodded looking at Jamie who piped in "Callie, you have that guitar handy?"
"yeah why?"
"I thought maybe I could play a bit" Jamie said giving her a look as if to say 'so you can propose'
"oh yeah, it's in the house come with me" Callie said standing, as Jamie followed her into the house "thanks" she said once out of ear shot
"no problem, I just thought this would work better" Jamie whispered
"I hope so" Callie said handing the guitar to Jamie then wiping her clammy hand on her shorts. "what if she says no"
"oh my god, Callie" Jamie shook her head, turning around to look at her "she's already said yes"
"I know but"
"let me just stop you right there" she said putting the guitar down, putting her arms on Callie's shoulders "you have nothing to worry about, Arizona loves you, you two are meant to be together just like Sarah and I are"
"yeah" Callie took a deep breath "I guess you're right"
"I know I'm right" Jamie smiled "now come on" she said putting her arm around her.

The group was in full blown laughter when they got back. "oh, good a free show" Teddy smiled
"any requests?" Jamie asked sitting down, setting the guitar on her knee as she began tuning it "no? alright" she smiled as she began to strum. Callie made her way to Arizona's chair as Jamie's voice rang out. "I met you in the dark, you lit me up. You made me feel as though I was enough" Jamie began, Callie took a deep breath, "say you won't let go" Jamie kept on singing. Callie got down on one knee, with no one seeing her. Reaching for Arizona's hand, Arizona turned toward her in shock "what are you"
"Arizona" Callie said Jamie had stopped singing but kept playing the guitar. "I have loved you since the moment I first saw you" she paused taking a deep breath knowing she had everyone's attention, holding up the ring "will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" Arizona couldn't stop the tears from flowing down her face. Feeling Callie reach up and wipe them away, she looked up in to her eyes and says "yes"
"what was that I didn't hear you" Daniel said
"she said yes dad" Teddy said as she reached for April's hand, bringing it to her mouth she kissed the back of it. Callie slid the ring on Arizona's finger, letting out a sigh of relief when it fit perfectly.
"oh my" Barbara said, Arizona looked at her mom and couldn't help but laugh. "my baby is getting married"
"well um" Teddy cleared her throat "technically we both are"
"what?" Barbara shot her attention back to her other daughter, as Teddy and April both held up their left hands "when did" Barbara couldn't even think straight at this point "you two just got together"
"mom I told you on the phone April and I have been together for a while now"
"you know what?" Barbara said reaching for a napkin to wipe her face. "I don't even care, come here" she opened her arms and Teddy jumped up from her chair and ran into them like she did when she was little "I know you always think you come second to Arizona, but we love you just the same" she whispered.
"thanks mom" Teddy kissed her cheek and took her seat next to April "Zo let me see the ring" she asked reaching for Arizona's hand "damn Callie, you did good"
"I did didn't I" Callie smiled looking up at Jamie, they both winked at each other. "should I keep playing or?" Jamie held up the guitar.
"babe, do the one where Callie sings with you" Sarah smiled
"you sing?" Barbara asked looking at her soon to be daughter in law
"no" Callie shook her head
"she does mom, and she has a beautiful voice" Arizona smiled
"I'm trying to get her to record this song with me, I think I've almost got her" Jamie smiled, then tilted her head "come on, Callie please"
"ugh fine" Callie groaned as she pushed her chair back from the table
"wait does that mean you'll record it with me?"
"no it means we'll sing now, I still haven't decided"
"she'll do it" Arizona winked
"can't I decide for myself?" Callie asked looking at Arizona
"oh Callie dear, if you're going to be married it's time you realize you never get to make your own decisions" Daniel said "if she's anything like her mother you're screwed" he laughed
"you're screwed" Teddy laughed
"so are you" Arizona said looking at April who she could tell wasn't entirely paying attention "what? what did I do?"
"welcome to the family dear" Barbara smiled, as the group laughed.

The next morning Arizona woke up to find Callie wrapped around her. Letting out a giggle when she heard Callie mumble something in her sleep, then she moved pulling Arizona in tighter. Arizona smiled and cuddled in. It was Saturday after all, and they didn't have anything planned. Trying hard she couldn't fall back to sleep, looking at the clock she saw it was just past 7, and the smell of coffee was evident in the air. "shit" she said, trying to get out from under Callie, she had forgotten her parents were there. "babe, I need to get up"
"no" Callie groaned, wrapping her tighter
"Callie please" Arizona pleaded, Callie let out a sigh "fine" she rolled over and the snoring started again. Arizona shook her head and climbed out of bed, her first stop was the bathroom. A little surprised that she was still wearing her clothes, Callie was pretty drunk when they went to bed last night. In the bathroom she reached for her toothbrush, the light catching her ring, she smiled. They really were engaged, she had a ring to prove it. She never had a ring before, Joann always said she was going to get one, but never did. Shaking her head at the thought of Joann, she finished brushing her teeth and made her way down to find out what her parents were doing. Finding her mother in the kitchen, with her head in the refrigerator, and her father at the table, reading a paper. Arizona wondered where he got it. To her knowledge they didn't have any delivered. "oh hi honey" her mother smiled as she turned around "I was just looking for something for breakfast"
"morning" she mumbled making her way to the coffee pot "we hadn't had time to do the shopping, I'll go after I get dressed"
"ok" Barbara nodded, popping two pieces of bread in the toaster, that was one thing they always had was bread, once it popped up, she buttered it and placed it on the table in front of Daniel "just toast today honey"
"sounds great" he folded up the paper and set it on the table, and reached for the toast. He wasn't a picky man, he'd eat about anything Barbara set in front of him. Arizona smiled, as she sipped her coffee, and felt herself come more to life. "dad" she said looking up at her father, he nodded. "where did you get the paper?"
"it's from home" he smiled "I had a feeling you guys didn't get the daily paper here, so I grabbed a couple different ones at the airport"
"good thinking" she smiled, as Barbara joined them at the table
"your friends are nice" Barbara said as she went about eating her toast
"they are" Arizona smiled
"how did you end up meeting them?" Barbara continued her questions "I know the story was told last night but I don't remember what was said"
"Callie and I were taking a walk on the beach and we ended up running into Jamie and Sarah" Arizona shrugged
"and they just started talking to you?"
"well sorta" Arizona shrugged "I know it's pretty unbelievable that someone famous would want to hang out with nobody's like us but" she reached for her cup taking another sip.
"well you're getting pretty famous yourself" Daniel said
"no" Arizona shook her head
"you are honey" Barbara said "I was at the mall the other day, with Ellis, looking at books for our next book club meeting, when she spotted a section that was all edited by you"
"a section" Arizona laughed "I've only done a few books"
"maybe it was a section by your company, but your name was on it" Barbara smiled proudly. Arizona shook her head taking another drink of her coffee, noting her cup was empty. "I'll go get dressed and we can head to the store"
"sounds good honey" her mother smiled as she stood and left the room.

Callie awoke to the sound of the shower, the sound of the running water making her bladder scream for release. Crawling out of bed, she made her way into the bathroom, letting out a moan as her bladder emptied, she looked up and was met with her blonde naked in the shower. Deciding not to be a dick, and not flush the toilet, she went to wash her hands. Looking in the mirror her eyes caught Arizona's, through the glass of the shower. "are you joining me?" Arizona asked
"why are you in there without me?"
"mom pointed out we didn't have any food so I'm getting dressed to go shopping" Arizona said as she put her head under the water to make sure all the conditioner was rinsed out.
"hmm" Callie hummed as she dried her hands "I think I'll pass"
"good" the water shut off, and the door opened "I'm done anyway" she smiled, reaching for her towel. Callie stood there staring at her, her not yet awake brain made it hard to look away. Arizona let out a giggle as she wrapped the towel around her body, and took a second one for her hair. "I take it you don't want to go shopping either?"
"no, you and your mom go" Callie said shaking her head "I'm going to get coffee" she said leaving the bathroom.
"hey" Arizona said sticking her head out the door, Callie turned "you forgot something"
"hmm" Callie hummed, the blonde was standing in front of her, stood on her tip toes and placed a kiss on her lips "there" she smiled and made her way back into the bathroom. Smiling she turned and left the room, the smell of her favorite coffee dragging her to the kitchen, where she found Barbara and Daniel sitting at the table. "I just don't understand Daniel" she heard Barbara say.
"I know Barb, but Teddy is a big girl, she can make her own decisions"
"it's not like I don't like April, she's a nice girl" Daniel put the paper down "she is a nice girl, and Teddy seems to be happy, so let that be enough" Callie cleared her throat to let them know she was there. "oh hello dear" Barbara looked up smiling, as Callie made her way to the table, coffee in hand "I hope it's ok I took over your kitchen"
"it's no problem, I enjoy waking up to the coffee already made" Callie smiled and sat down taking a sip "and just the way I like it"
"good" Barbara smiled "Arizona and I are going shopping, I noticed you don't have much here"
"we've been busy at work and eating out a lot" there was a snicker from the doorway as Teddy walked in and sat down at the table. Callie looked at her and shook her head. Barbara deciding to ignore her daughter and kept talking to Callie "are you coming with?"
"no" Callie shook her head "I'll let you and Arizona have some mother daughter time"
"ok" she smiled
"you ready?" Arizona asked coming into the room
"yes" Barbara jumped out of her seat, Callie watched as she placed a kiss on Daniel's cheek, whispered something and disappeared out of the room. "well then" Arizona laughed as she placed a kiss on Callie's cheek "I'll be back, I love you"
"love you too" Callie whispered
"love you too" Teddy snickered, as Arizona hit the back of her head.

"I don't know Arizona, these prices seem outrageous" Barbara commented on the price of eggs, Arizona rolled her eyes "mom just get what you want, they aren't that bad, your just used to the Save A Lot"
"hmm, maybe" she picked up a carton of eggs and looked at them, placing them in the cart "tell me more about Teddy and April"
"what do you want to know?"
"is it serious?"
"well" Arizona said stopping to look at something "Teddy seems to be pretty serious about April, and I know April is head over heels for her so" she started moving again "not to mention they are engaged"

"what?" Arizona looked at her mother
"nothing" Barbara shook her head
"no just say it" Arizona said, when the older lady didn't say anything she went on "you don't think it's going to last?"
"I didn't say that"
"no but you forget I know you, hell I am you, and I know what you're thinking"
"she's a nice girl"
"she is, she has become my best friend"
"what about Jamie"
"Sarah, Jamie is Callie's" Arizona chuckled "April was my first friend here in LA, other than Callie, she's amazing mom, just give her a chance"
"fine" Barbara let out a sigh "now where's the bakery?"
"this way" Arizona said pushing the cart.

Daniel was walking past the front door when the doorbell sounded, looking around, he shrugged and pulled it open, seeing a man about his age, standing there "hello"
"hello, is Calliope home?"
"Calliope? What's a Calliope?" Daniel asked confused
"Calliope would be the owner of this house" the man said in a deep voice
"hmm" Daniel said looking around "you mean Callie?"
"yes Calliope" the man nodded
"let me see if I can find her" Daniel said he left the door open and went back into the kitchen "Calliope?" he said seeing Callie sitting at the table. Callie cringed at hearing her full name and turned to face her soon to be father-in-law "there's a man at the door asking for Calliope"
"shit" Callie muttered there was only one person who calls her that other than Arizona, she stood and went to the front door "hi daddy" she said leaning in the kiss his cheek, when they weren't at work this was how she greeted him. "who was the man who answered the door?"
"that's Arizona's dad, Daniel, he and Barbara, his wife, are visiting"
"oh" he looked around the living room noting the difference in décor since the last time he was there "come on, I'll introduce you" she nodded for Carlos to follow her into the kitchen, where Daniel had taken his place back at the table. "Daniel Robbins, I'd like you to meet my father Carlos Torres" Daniel stood up and reached out his hand "your father?" he asked, seeing Callie nod, he smiled "sorry, I'm from a small town and I get a little guarded when someone comes to the door I don't know"
"it's quite alright" Carlos gave a smile that Callie could tell was fake
"daddy would you like some coffee?"
"no" he turned to look at Callie "I came to talk to you" he said as Teddy came into the room, Callie could see the irritation on his face "is there somewhere private we can go?"
"my office" she said and nodded for him to follow her.

"mom it wasn't that bad" Arizona said shaking her head as she and Barbara came through the garage door into the kitchen.
"Arizona that car cut you off, if you weren't paying attention we would have been in an accident"
"but we weren't" Arizona set the bags she was holding on the counter, hearing her father chuckle.
"Daniel you wouldn't believe the way people drive out here"
"I can" he laughed "remember I lived out here back in the 70's" Barbara shook her head, "Arizona, have you met Callie's father yet?"
"no" Arizona shook her head as she started putting away the cold stuff.
"hmm" Daniel hummed, as Callie's voice rang through the house "no daddy you are not telling me what I can and can't do"
"I take it he's here" Arizona said looking at her father who nodded and sat back down.

"no this is my house, and I will raise my voice if I want"
"is this how you react at work?" he asked his blue eyes staring right into hers
"no" she shook her head
"no wonder everything is so messed up"
"what do you mean?" she looked at him
"you've got too much going on here, and since you've met this, Arizona, your mother and I never see you"
"maybe it's better that way"
"hmm, maybe" he hummed and looked around the room "I think it's time you"
"don't" Callie raised her hand "don't tell me what to do, I'm not a kid anymore"
"you've sure been acting like one"
"would it help if I quit?"
"Calliope" Carlos said shaking his head "no"
"I've been thinking a lot about it, daddy, and I think it's time"
"Calliope"
"you've got plenty of people lined up for my job, let them have it and let me be me"
"let you be you" he said confused
"yes" Callie nodded she saw her father shake his head "this Arizona has changed you"
"no daddy, she's just gave me a reason to finally live"
"I don't like it"
"you better get used to it, because I proposed last night and she said yes"
"you're making a big mistake"
"how?" Callie asked, she didn't wait for him to answer "you don't even know Arizona"
"I know her type, they're all the same all she's after is your money"
"no" Callie shook her head "you have no idea"
"I do Calliope, I've seen her type before"
"Arizona knew nothing about you or that I come from money until after we were together over a month. So don't tell me you know who she is" Callie raised her voice again, as the tears started to prick her eyes "you don't know her" as she said the last word the flood gates opened.
"Calliope"
"I think you should go" she said going to the door and opening it
"we aren't done talking"
"I think we are" she said standing tall, crossing her arms, as she sniffled. Carlos took a deep breath and reached to shut the door, Callie let out a sigh and dropped her arms to her side "Calliope" he said again "you're my daughter and I love you, but I think"
"no" she closed her eyes "you don't even know her"
"then let me get to know her" he said his voice softening "one of the reasons I'm here is because your mother asked me to, we haven't seen you in months outside of work, and we have yet to meet her" Callie let out the breath she was holding, looking up into her father's eyes "you really want to meet her?"
"I do, we do" Carlos nodded, as he stepped closer reaching out "Calliope your mother and I love you, you are our only child"
"only living child" Callie sniffled, she watched her father close his eyes and take a shaky breath "you are our only living child and you never come around"
"promise you'll be nice"
"I promise" Carlos said holding out his arms, Callie sniffled and moved into his embrace.
"alright" she pulled back, reached for a tissue to wipe her tears "but I'm done, I can't do that job anymore"
"fine" he nodded "I knew it was only a matter of time anyway"
"thank you for understanding" she smiled, Carlos nodded and said "come on, I want to meet this girlfriend of yours"
"fiancée" Callie corrected him
"fiancée" he smiled

Arizona and Barbara were just putting the last of the groceries away when Arizona heard Callie clear her throat. Turning around she saw Callie and a man, who she assumed to be her dad, standing in the doorway. "hi" Callie said
"hi" Arizona smiled making eye contact with Callie, she could tell that Callie had been crying, with a tilt of her head she asked if Callie was alright, when she got a nod from her girlfriend, Arizona nodded "I'd like you all to meet my dad, Carlos" Callie said "dad this is Arizona's parents Daniel and Barbara Robbins" Daniel stood and held out his hand, "sorry again about our first interaction, I didn't know Callie's name was Calliope"
"is it?" Barbara asked looking at the brunette, who nodded and blushed "it's a beautiful name why don't you use it?"
"I've asked her the same question, I'm the only one who calls her that" Carlos says
"not anymore" Callie said looking at Arizona,
"as I was saying I'm sorry" Daniel said
"it's alright" Carlos smiled "good to know someone is looking out for her" the two men nodded at each other as Carlos turned toward Arizona "Arizona is it?" Arizona nodded hoping the nervousness she felt wasn't noticeable "it's a pleasure to finally meet you"
"you too Mr. Torres" Arizona said nervously
"please, from what I hear you're engaged to my daughter, call me Carlos" Arizona let out the breath she was holding and nodded, feeling herself relax when Callie put her arm around her. "dad would you like a drink?"
"Arizona and I just got back from the store, so there's plenty" Barbara said making her way to the fridge.
"no, I'm good" Carlos smiled "I better be going"
"are you sure?" Callie asked meeting his eyes
"yes" he smiled "but would you join your mother and I for dinner tomorrow night?" he ask looking into Callie's eyes
"well" she looked over at Barbara who was now sitting at the table with Daniel "Arizona's parents are here" she said softly
"I'm sure your mother would love to meet them too" he smiled
"ok" Callie said softly
"the house next door is for sale, how much do you think they want for it?" April said coming into the room, but stopping seeing someone she didn't know.
"how many people live here" Carlos asked with a chuckle
"me and Arizona, and her sister Teddy, and her girlfriend April" Callie said "April this is my dad"
"oh" April said still standing in the doorway unsure of what to do, she cleared her throat and reached out her hand "good to meet you sir"
"likewise" he smiled "Calliope, I'll call later and set up a time for dinner" Callie nodded "it was a pleasure to meet all of you" he turned toward Arizona and smiled "and you young lady, take care of her"
"I will" Arizona smiled and nodded
"I'll walk you out" Callie said following him out of the room.
"oh thank god" Arizona said plopping down in a chair
"you ok?" Barbara asked
"yeah, I just" she paused looking up at her mother "wasn't expecting that"
"he seemed nice" April said taking a seat at the table.
"hmmm" Daniel hummed "hope the meeting with her mother doesn't go the same"
"I'm sure it'll be fine" Barbara said
"wait, the house next door is for sale?" Arizona said turning to April, who smiled and nodded her head. "you want to move?"
"well" April shrugged "honestly no, but I think it'd be best if Teddy and I didn't live with her sister"
"good point" Arizona smiled "besides she's got some news to share with all of you"
"now what'd she do" Barbara asked shaking her head
"don't worry, I'm sure you'll love this" April smiled "I'm gonna go and see if I can find anything out about that house, it'd be nice to live close"
"alright" Arizona nodded looking at her parents.
"more big news" Barbara said looking at Arizona who shrugged "I don't know if I can take anymore"
"I'm sure it'll be fine" Arizona smiled placing her hand on her mothers.

Later that afternoon, Barbara and Daniel had decided to make use of the hot tub "you know Barb, this is kind of nice"
"it is" she sat back and leaned her head against the back of the tub
"it doesn't get cold here either" he said closing his eyes, he heard her let out a hum "and I could gulf year round"
"what are you saying?" she popped her head up looking at her husband, who shrugged "I don't know" he laughed "both of our girls are here, maybe we should think about moving too"
"to LA?"
"well maybe not to LA, but somewhere in California, it'd be a hell of a lot closer than Wisconsin"
"hmm" Barbara hummed looking at her husband "you know I love you right" he smiled and said "I love you too"

Daniel had just pulled the steaks off the grill, walking into the house he placed them on the table "thanks dad" Arizona smiled
"I could have done it" Callie smiled
"nonsense he's a grill master" Barbara smiled as she placed the salad on the table "Theodora dinner" she called
"it's like being at home" Arizona laughed taking her seat at the table
"so Callie" Barbara said taking her seat "what is your mothers name?"
"Lucia" Callie said as she placed some salad on her plate
"should we be worried?" Barbara asked
"I don't think so, my dad is the hard ass, and you saw how quickly he changed"
"hmm" Daniel hummed
"what dad?" Arizona said looking at him
"you didn't hear the yelling" he said looking up at his daughter
"and that's all my fault, he's right, I haven't been over there in" she stopped thinking about it "well a while"
"because of me?" Arizona asked quietly
"no" Callie reached for her hand "it'd been awhile before that even"
"please tell me you've at least talked to your mother" Barbara said, Callie shook her head feeling the guilt set in. "I'm a bad child"
"hmm" Barbara hummed looking around the table "Theodora I'm not going to say it again" she yelled, then heard two sets of feet running down the stairs "sorry" Teddy said coming into the room.
"save that for later" Barbara said
"we weren't doing that" Teddy shook her head taking her seat as they began eating in silence. Arizona noticed April whisper something to Teddy, and saw Teddy shake her head. Clearing her throat she looked up "I'm going back to school"
"oh?" Barbara said looking at her daughter, Arizona cocked her head wondering where this was coming from, Teddy nodded "I'm going to medical school"
"doesn't that take forever?" Callie asked
"well" Teddy laughed "normally yes, but I've already got my generals out of the way, so"
"have you applied yet?" Arizona asked
"that's what we were doing" April said
"I just hit submit before we came down"
"wow" Arizona said sitting back in her chair looking at her family "when will you know if you've been accepted?"
"soon" Teddy smiled "I'm excited about this"
"a doctor" Barbara said
"not just any doctor, I want to be a surgeon"
"we've been talking about it" April said hoping Arizona wasn't upset that Teddy didn't tell her
"hmm" Arizona hummed but smiled
"did you find anymore out about the house next door?" Callie asked
"oh right" April smiled big "it's got a guest house" she looked up at the two guests "pretty much set up like this one, but the lot is bigger, but it doesn't have a pool"
"how much?" Daniel asked
"well" April let out a sigh "probably too much"
"how much?" Daniel asked again
"$500,000"
"hmm" he nodded then looked at Barbara "you said it has a guest house?" April nodded "yes" Barbara smiled "let's just eat dinner, a lot has happened today, and I'm starved" she said cutting her steak.

Arizona let out a groan as she flopped down on the bed "exhausted?" Callie asked running her hand through Arizona's hair "I don't think exhausted is the right word for it, so much has happened today and"
"I get it" Callie kissed the bare shoulder "come on" she pulled her down, Arizona laid her head on Callie's chest "I can't believe my sister wants to go to medical school"
"yeah that's a shocker"
"she'll be a good doctor though" she smiled
"what do you say I help them get the house next door, I mean I like having them living here but it'd be nice to have the place to ourselves again"
"it would, but" Arizona lifted her head to look at Callie "but what?"
"what happened with your dad today"
"oh" Callie looked down letting out a sigh "I quit"
"you quit? Like your job?" Callie nodded "Calliope"
"I know, it was a rash decision but I just can't do it anymore, I'll find something different"
"what are you going to do about money"
"I have my trust fund, to be honest I don't have to work, I choose to"
"hmm" Arizona hummed placing a kiss on her lips and put her head back on Callie's chest. "good night I love you"
"that's it?" Callie asked confused
"yes" Arizona said
"ok" Callie took a deep breath "I love you too" she kissed the top of Arizona's head.

"this is a house?" Daniel asked as they pulled up outside the Torres estate
"yeah" Callie said putting the car in park letting out a sigh.
"I think I'm underdressed" he said looking down at the button up shirt and shorts he was wearing.
"don't worry about it" Callie said turning to face the man she smiled "well" she turned to look at Arizona who smiled and reached for the door handle, and got out of the car. Normally Callie would just walk right in but today she decided to ring the bell, as the door opened "Ms. Callie" Maria smiled
"hello Maria" Callie smiled, as she ushered the rest of the Robbins into the house.
"your parents are out in the yard" Maria said before disappearing. Arizona looked around, the entry way where they were standing was as big as the kitchen in the house back in Wisconsin. "come on" Callie nodded for them to follow her, as she led them through the house and out to the back yard.
"ah Calliope, you made it" Carlos said standing up from his chair to greet the new comers.
"daddy" Callie smiled kissing his cheek "you remember Arizona, Daniel and Barbara?"
"I sure do" he smiled as he reached his hand out for Daniel, they gave the standard greetings, until he got to Arizona, the blonde stood tall, nervous but tall. Letting out a gasp when Carlos pulled her in for a hug. "welcome to my home" he whispered in her ear, and let her go. Arizona looked at Callie who smiled and shrugged. "if you would have a seat I'll go see what's taking my wife so long" he smiled and disappeared into the house. Arizona let out a breath "oh this is a nice table" Barbara said looking at the table as she sat down, Callie took Arizona's hand and sat in her usual seat, pulling out the chair for Arizona to sit next to her. It wasn't long before voices were heard, and a squeal came from Callie "Addison, what on earth are you doing here?"
"well you know" the red head smiled as they embraced each other "I heard you had a new girl and I wanted to meet her"
"I'm sorry I haven't called, I've been"
"nonsense Cal, look at you" Addison smiled holding her back at arms length "you look amazing"
"thanks" Callie blushed "you do too" the pair of old friends hugged again "now, let me meet this girl of yours"
"right" Callie giggled as she turned around and saw Arizona giving her a confused look, she smiled "Addison this is Arizona Robbins, and her parents Barbara and Daniel, guys this is my life long best friend Addison Montgomery"
"Dr. Addison Montgomery" Addison smiled holding out her hand for each the Robbins parents but when she got to Arizona she stopped, looked her up and down, smiled and pulled the blonde in for a tight hug. Arizona wasn't sure how to feel, Callie had only mentioned Addison a few times, in random conversations. "so" Addison smiled as she took a seat at the table "how is everything" then looked at Callie, who took Arizona's left hand and brought it to her mouth kissing the back of it "oh my god, is that a ring?" she didn't wait for a reply "Calliope Iphigenia Torres you bitch" Callie just smiled this was the reaction she knew she'd get from her old friend. "let me see" she reached out pulling Arizona's hand to her, admiring the ring. "it's beautiful"
"um, thanks" Arizona said nervously, Addison then turned her attention to Arizona's face "and so are you" she smiled
"um" Arizona swallowed hard
"Addie, stop, she's already nervous enough"
"well she is beautiful Cal" Addison smiled letting go of Arizona's hand and turning her attention towards Daniel and Barbara "so you are from Wisconsin?"
"yes" Barbara nodded "a small town on the shore of Lake Superior"
"although we're thinking about a move" Daniel said catching Arizona's eye "we'll talk later honey" he smiled at his daughter causing Arizona to shake her head. The last two days have been too much, and before she could say or even think anything the sound of the door opening could be heard. "sorry to keep everyone waiting"
"mommy" Callie said standing and going to give her mother a hug. Lucia Torres was a tall, skinny woman, and had the beauty to go with it. Her long hair was tied up in a bun, and she stood proud as she took Callie in an embrace only a mother could give. Arizona was in complete awe over her, and if that is what Callie was going to look like in 20 plus years, she had to stifle a moan at thinking about it. Hearing a giggle beside her she looked over seeing the red head cover it up by taking a sip of water. Addison then leaned toward Arizona "hoping Callie looks like that in 20 years" Arizona let out a small gasp and shook her head. "mommy, this is Barbara and Daniel Robbins, Arizona's parents" the standard greeting were said again. "and this beauty must be Arizona"
"yes" Arizona said standing nervously "it's so nice to meet you Mrs. Torres"
"psh, Mrs. Torres, what is this a business deal?" the woman laughed "please call me Lucia"
"um" Arizona swallowed "ok" she couldn't get any more out when Lucia grabbed her and pulled her in for a hug.
"I should have warned you they like to hug" Callie laughed taking her seat at the table
"let her alone" Carlos's voice was heard "she's already uncomfortable enough" he said taking his seat at the table. Lucia let Arizona go with a pat on her arm, taking her seat at the table "Maria will be right out with dinner" Carlos said as he pulled out his napkin and placed it on his lap.
"so Arizona" Lucia said turning her attention to the blonde "what is it you do?"
"I'm an editor" Arizona said proudly "I'm actually one of the head editors at CAP"
"I know that place" Lucia said, causing a look of shock to Arizona's face "I'm actually their lawyer"
"oh wow" Arizona said only just now realizing where she'd heard the name Lucia Torres from. She never really gave it a thought, after all Miranda went over all the paperwork her first day and she was overwhelmed, and hadn't known Callie well yet.
"small world" Addison commented, luckily nothing more could be said as Maria came out with the food.

"and then little Calliope was running with the bucket of water balloons and hit a patch of grass that was wet and fell, smacking her head on the side of the bucket knocking out her two front teeth" Lucia said through laughter as she told the story
"it didn't help Marc was chasing me with a super soaker" Callie said, the group went quiet, Marc wasn't brought up too much, the pain of losing him was still very raw after all these years.
"I seem to remember it differently" Addison said breaking the awkwardness "I remember you went after him with the hose first"
"I'm going to go after you with the hose in a minute" Callie said looking at her best friend
"anyway poor Calliope was crying and there was blood everywhere"
"that was when I decided I wanted to become a doctor" Addison smiled
"remember that time the girls were down at the beach, and they came in Arizona was bleeding from the head and Teddy tried to stitch her up?" Barbara asked looking at her husband
"yes" he laughed "Joann had to physically remove the needle and thread from Teddy's hand"
"nothing like walking into the house to three teenage girls fighting" Barbara laughed
"you have three children?" Lucia asked
"well um" Barbara said looking at Arizona, who looked down "we have two, Theodora and Arizona, who are twins"
"but you said three, was it a cousin or something" Lucia wanted to know all she could about the family. Barbara looked at Arizona "it's ok mom go ahead" Arizona reached for Callie's hand "yes I said three, the third Joann" she paused "Joann was Arizona's girlfriend, her parents weren't accepting of the girls being together and kicked her out" Barbara paused again looking at her daughter.
"and you took her in" Lucia asked, a smile on her face
"we did" Daniel said "couldn't let her live on the streets"
"nice" Lucia smiled and sat back in her chair
"so what happened to this Joann?" Carlos asked
"well" Arizona said feeling Callie squeeze her hand "you don't have to" Callie whispered
"no it's ok" Arizona smiled clearing her throat "Joann was killed in a car accident about 2 years ago"
"oh I'm sorry dear" Lucia said
"it was raining, and I was late home from work, I had forgotten to call, and when I got home she was mad. Some words were said and she took off" Arizona was looking down at the table.
"she had stopped to help an older couple who had blown a tire, or something, and a truck came out of no where and crashed into them" Daniel said somberly "I came upon them as it happened" he said letting out a shaky breath "I was a deputy sheriff at the time"
"hmm" Lucia hummed turning her attention to Arizona "are you ok dear?" she could tell the blonde was holding back her emotions
"yes" Arizona nodded "although it still hurts to talk about it, it's easier now" she looked at Callie, took her hand and kissed the back of it.
"Calliope before you leave I'd like a word with you in my office" Carlos said
"um ok" she said looking at her father
"just some paperwork for you to sign"
"Carlos, can't that wait until Monday?"
"no it cannot" he said "she won't be there on Monday"
"why not?"
"because mommy, I quit"
"why'd you do that?" Addison asked confused from what she'd known Callie loved her job.
"it's just too much"
"what the hell are you going to do now?" Addison asked
"well our friend Jamie" Callie started but couldn't get anymore out when Arizona cut her off after hearing Jamie's name "no way" she squealed
"what's going on?" Addison asked looking at the four parents of the group. Who all shrugged no idea why the blonde was suddenly all excited "as I was explaining our friend Jamie has been trying to talk me into recording a song with her"
"oh you have an amazing voice" Lucia smiled
"Jamie?" Addison asked confused "you're not talking about Jamie Davis are you?" both Callie and Arizona smiled and nodded "damn" Addison said sitting back in her chair.
"she has a song that she just wrote and needs a second voice" Callie shrugged
"oh Calliope that's amazing you have a fabulous voice" Lucia cooed
"anyway I've been giving it a lot of thought and" Callie shrugged
"I'm so excited" Arizona said leaning over placing a kiss on Callie's lips, forgetting she was in the company of both sets of parents. Addison cleared her throat and laughed "well then" she moved her chair back "this has been amazing as always, but I have to get going, Lucia dinner was delicious as always"
"thank you"
"and Cal, I'll call you later" she said looking at Callie, who stood "I'll walk you out" she placed a kiss on Arizona's cheek and followed Addison into the house. "she's amazing Callie, I'm happy for you"
"thank you Addie it means a lot coming from you"
"I'm back now, the Seattle thing didn't work out" Addison said a little somberly
"is everything alright?" Callie asked concerned
"yes and no" Addison smiled "how about we get lunch in the next few days and I'll explain"
"sounds great" Callie smiled they were now at Addison's car, how she didn't see it when they pulled in was beyond her. Addison pulled Callie in for a hug "love you"
"love you too"
"I'll call you tomorrow" Addison said as she opened the car door and slipped behind the wheel.

Arizona was still smiling as she watched Callie and Addison walk into the house "you didn't know about this did you" Carlos asked
"no" Arizona shook her head as she turned her attention to the man "I have been on her to do it but"
"she's always had an amazing voice" Lucia smiled
"I'll have to get her to sing for us" Barbara said
"thank you all for joining us, if you would excuse me, I have some paperwork to attend to" Carlos said standing up. "it was a pleasure meeting all of you, I hope we can do it again soon" Daniel nodded, as Carlos disappeared into the house.
"while Maria cleans this up why don't I give you all a tour" Lucia said pushing back her chair and standing. All three Robbins doing the same, following Lucia through the house.
