Toothless made his way through the forest and began to look for Stoick and Hiccup. He could smell both of them on the wind. They'd both managed to make it a good distance from the spot they entered. Toothless decided to follow Stoick's scent first, wanting to make sure that he wouldn't get lost or turned around while looking for his target. As the man's scent grew stronger Toothless made his way into the trees. Jumping and gliding along from one to another. When he spotted the man he was tracking his deer. Toothless followed along and caught sight of the deer Stoick had been following first. He got in front of the human to a spot where he'd get a better view. He watched Stoick have no choice but to sneak up on his mark. The deer in question was a good sized stag who was grazing without a care.

Toothless was surprised at how quiet the large man could be. Stoick got ready to pounce and grabbed the stag by the antlers. The large human tried his best to wrestle the deer to the ground so he could get a clean cut with his sword, but instead was taken for a ride. As Stoick grabbed the deer it jerked back and started to shake it's head trying to dislodge the human from him. But Stoick wasn't going let go as long as he could. As the deer shook Stoick around, knocking him into trees and bushes, it was obvious that the buck was losing steam fast, allowing Stoick to begin to muscle the deer around, making it even more tired.

Not to say that Stoick wasn't out of steam himself. After being drug around, and bashed into everything in reach Toothless wondered if Stoick was going to pull through. The dragon continued to watch the wrestling match and was surprised, and proud to watch Stoick finally get the buck off its feet. He drug himself on top of the deer and was able to pin it down long enough to give the killing blow. As he gasped for air, Stoick checked himself over for cuts and bruises. With nothing major enough to panic about Stoick slumped himself off of his prize and leaned himself against the nearest tree.

Toothless continued to monitor the man to make sure that he was okay, and to make sure he'd be able to bring his prize back. Eventually the man stood back up and began to drag the deer back the way he came. But it was slow going and Stoick had to take breaks regularly. After watching Stoick struggle for a while longer, Toothless jumped out of the trees and showed himself to the human.

"What are you doing here?" Stoick asked. "Shouldn't be off finding your own kill to bring back?"

"I'm not worried about that too much, gonna make sure you and Hiccup get on okay before doing my own." Toothless said. But he got no response from Stoick. The man sat there simply staring at him. "Oh, that's right you can't understand me." Instead of trying to break the language barrier, Toothless simply took Stoick's deer by the antlers and began to drag it back towards camp.

"So you followed me all the way out here just to steal my kill?" Stoick asked while walking behind Toothless. Toothless stopped dragging and shook his head. "So you're just here to help then?" The dragon nodded. "I find that hard to believe." Toothless rolled his eyes, and started to drag the deer again. "Well I guess I don't really have a choice in the matter right now. Damned thing shook me around like a ragdoll. Lucky I didn't get it worse than I did."

Toothless took a break nearly half way back to camp.

"Not so easy now is it?" Stoick sat down on a nearby fallen tree. "So what, did Hiccup ask you to follow me?" Toothless shook his head. "Were you looking for him and find me instead?" Again a no from Toothless. "So you were looking for me then? Why's that?"

"If you could understand me, I'd tell you." Toothless grumbled.

"You know, this whole language thing is going to be real hard to work around when you guys are on Berk. I guess the kids'll be fine. Your youngins will be able to learn our language, but I don't think anyone's gonna be able to learn yours. I don't even know how to make half those damn sounds you do. How Hiccup does it has to be some unearthly gift. Speaking of that actually. I haven't talked to either of you about how Hiccup ended up like that. How is he like that? You don't just hit a point in your life where you change what you are. Damn near everyone wants to or is going to want to know. But I believe Hiccup said he wasn't allowed to talk about it. So I suppose there's no helping it. Gonna be an interesting day when the rest of Berk sees Hiccup again. Definitely not going to be an easy day for any of us, that's for sure. Gobber damn near had a heart attack when he landed here and I'd say he's one of the more sensible people on Berk. Hell I'm far beyond surprised that the group I came with kept it together so well. Some of those people have lost a lot to the attacks that used to happen. Family, friends, homes, unreplaceable heirlooms. You name it, it's been destroyed. A lot of people started to keep only the essentials in their homes cause they were afraid they'd burn in a fire."

"Most of that is probably my fault." Toothless sighed. "If I could apologize properly I would." Toothless gripped the bucks antlers again and began pulling. Stoick got up from his spot and followed the dragon again.

"So then, Hiccup's machine really worked huh? He really shot you down?" Stoick asked. Toothless looked up at him and nodded awkwardly. "How long was he able to hide you? You'd still be a secret if he never tried to show you to Astrid. That boy's got a big heart and just wanted someone to see what he'd done. The impossible. Shot you down, and instead of becoming a legend he forged his own path. Befriending you, running away with you, living in that tiny house he built. I don't even know how you fit in that thing. And eventually… well I'm not going to act ignorant of it, becoming your lover, or, or becoming your mate right? That's what you call it?" Toothless nodded at him again. "Now to be completely honest with you I can't say I understand it. I mean he's… and your… well everyone knew Hiccup was odd but maybe not to this level. But I suppose it's not like he had anyone else to turn to. And that you're able to talk to each other plus your situation and some other factors I'm sure I'm not aware of, I guess I can piece it together. But how do you even, like? Actually I'm going to stop myself there. If I get any details about what you do privately, I will be mentally scared for the rest of my life. But I suppose, as his father I have to know, you're not, I mean, you treat each other well, right. I guess you must given how long you've been together, but I don't know how long you've been, uh…" The large man snapped his fingers a few times. "Uh, mated, or married if you want the human term."

Toothless stopped and let go of the deer and looked up at Stoick.

"If only I could tell you how wildly in love with Hiccup I am. If only I could tell you the lengths that I'll go to keep him safe and how lost I'd be without him." Toothless huffed and resumed dragging the stag back to camp.
