Episode 539: Tales of Gabriel: In the Beginning

The Megaforce Rangers had spent the last few years exploring the universe. They went to Aquitar, Triforia, Eltar, Mirinoi, Mercury, Venus, Sirius, KO-35, along with many other planets, some of which no human eyes had seen before. Orion had joined them for some of their adventures, but mostly stuck to Andresia. Troy and Emma grew closer and Jake and Gia grew even closer. They were just leaving Onyx
"It's hard to believe that's the same planet that Andros said used to be filled with scum and villainy" said Noah
"It's hard to believe this is the same universe that just a short time ago was falling apart" said Jake
"Everything is so beautiful, so pure" said Emma "I wonder if this was what it was like before the Fall"
"In a lot of ways, it was" said a voice and they turn to see an old face
"Gabriel!" said Troy "what are you doing here?"
"I came to check up on you" said Gabriel "because of Zordon's reign, we angels don't have as much to do, so I've been checking up on the Rangers. To answer your question Emma, things were very similar to the old days, but there are still several differences"
"Wait, how do you know?" Jake asked
"I was there in the Beginning" said Gabriel "God created angels on the Sixth Day, a little before humans. There were no holy angels and fallen angels, just angels. And Lucifer was the most beautiful and powerful angel of all, even more powerful than Michael. And for a few years everything was perfect"
"How's that different from today?" Gia asked "everything seems perfect"
"For one, no one aged" said Gabriel "you still age, although much slower than you would have at any other point in time in human history. And for another, Adam and Eve were naked, while everyone now still wears clothes" and Troy and Emma look at each other, blush, and turn away, while Jake and Gia do the same "And another difference, you are still very much capable of sinning, although the amount of temptations you face has gone down. Most humans throughout history have had their temptations come from three primary sources: the demons, the world, and themselves. With the demons all sealed away and the universe purified, the only thing that can tempt you now are yourselves… and each other" and once again, Troy, Emma, Jake, and Gia blushed
"Gabriel" said Noah "what caused Lucifer to fall?"
"I'm not really sure" said Gabriel "I mean, it was definitely pride, but no one's really sure why he had to be proud. I think it was a combination of despite all his power, he was still second best to God and that God considered Man to be His finest creations, not Lucifer himself. I will never be able to forget the day Lucifer fell…"
At a meeting of the archangels, the leader, Lucifer, called the meeting to order. Lucifer turned to his second in command
"Michael" said Lucifer "please list out the points we will discuss today"
"Of course, Lucifer" said Michael "First we will open with a praise to God. Then we will each talk about how the LORD's work is being done on each of our planets. Then we will…" and as Michael went on, Lucifer tuned out the conversation, he knew the points by heart, if everything was really so perfect, why did they have to meet?
Everything was going to plan, God is still good, yada, yada, yada, yada. And besides even if something happened, if whatever this evil was that God spoke of ever appeared, certainly he would be able to stop it. He wouldn't even need the Father's help, and certainly not His Son, or any of the other angels. Lucifer realized that Michael had transitioned from giving meeting points to singing praises and that he had made the transition without even noticing. Knowing they were near the end of the song, Lucifer tried to clear his head and get back to work
"Michael" said Lucifer "please discuss how Aquitar is doing"
"Aquitar is coming along fine" said Michael "the two Aquitians have finished naming their creatures and are looking to start a family…" and once again Lucifer tuned out Michael.
He really had no problem with Michael, but how was any of this relevant to him? If he really wanted to go see how other planets were doing, he'd just go, he could teleport, as could anyone present. Besides, the idea of reproduction… repulsed him. Angels did not need to reproduce, all the angels that ever will be were already created. God was eternal and did not reproduce. This offspring thing all sounded like a cheap copy of the Father and the Son's relationship. But why should beings below him get even a cheap copy of the Father and the Son's relationship when he, the most powerful being in the universe after God Himself, gets nothing of the sort… if he wanted it… which he didn't.
"Lucifer… Lucifer…" said Michael and Lucifer snapped out of his inner-monologue
"What, oh yes, sorry Michael" said Lucifer "must have zoned out. Anyways, Earth is doing fine, some of Eden's water was placed in the Kingdom of Animaria with Animus and Shayla, those humans do seem to be a little slow at naming things compared to the rest of the universe but it's fine, everything's fine"
"They do have more creatures to name than the rest of the planets…" said Michael
"Yeah" said Lucifer "but how hard is it to say dog, cat, duck, moose. Pick a name and move on. For being the highest favored members of God's creation, they're a little slow. I wonder if God made a mistake" and Michael and Gabriel shot each other a look
"God cannot make mistakes" said Michael "He is God"
"I suppose" said Lucifer "but really, any one of us could wipe out the two humans and yet we're suppose to serve them?"
"It is God's will, Lucifer" said Gabriel "maybe you should go talk to the Son, He'd be happy to listen"
"I should go to… yes, good idea Gabriel" said Lucifer "I'll go see him after this" and as Michael concludes the meeting, Lucifer slips out and returns to his quarters unsure of what to do. He knew he didn't want to see the Son, not now anyways, he was enraged that Gabriel, such a lesser angel than him, would suggest such a thing. Even if Michael had suggested it, Michael was so much weaker than him. The angels were the strongest beings in the universe and he was the strongest angel. No one was stronger than him… except God. He hears a knock on the door and goes to open it, to see several angels. None of them were archangels, or had their own planet, but many were second-in-command of planets or high ranking generals.
"Can we come in Lucifer?" an angel asked
"Of course, Shira" said Lucifer and they all filed in "I don't believe I know all of you, at least not personally"
"I'm Lokar" said Lokar
"I'm Zedd" said Zedd
"I'm Specter" said Specter
"I'm Olympius" said Olympius
"I'm Loki" said Loki
"I'm also Loki" said another angel. No one was quite sure why there were two Lokis, when everyone else had been given unique names.
"I'm Org" said Org
"I'm Omni" said Omni
"I'm Morton" said Morton
"I'm Octomus" said Octomus
"I'm Moltor" said Moltor
"I'm Flurious" said Flurious
"I'm Xander" said Xander
"So now that we're all introduced" said Lucifer "what do you all want?"
"News of your words at today's meeting travels quickly" said Shira "and we think you're right. Why should we angels have to serve such weak creatures such as the humans and Aquitians and all the rest?" Lucifer is shocked at the news, but realizes that these were the perfect puppets for him, none of them are powerful enough to challenge him, but with his help, they could overthrow God, take the throne, and rule. But still he had to play this right, he had to make sure everything is in the right place at the right time, and had to gather as much power as he could. Deep down, he knew God was still more powerful than him, but if he had a whole army of angels and a few of God's more powerful creations…
"Are there more of us?" Lucifer asked
"Many more" said Shira "I know of at least a quarter of the angels will join us right now and I think we could get up to another quarter if we tried"
"Excellent" said Lucifer "how many are in the upper ranks?"
"Not many" Shira admitted "none of the other archangels, and most of the generals that would join you are present. But many, many, of the lower ranking angels will gladly follow you. I'd say we have at least a hundred angels per planet on our side. The only planet we don't know of is Earth, we figure no one would know better who will follow you out of your angels than you"
"Yes" said Lucifer "I know which ones will follow and which ones won't. Now, most of us present will confront God, if He is willing to surrender His rule to me, I'll allow him to live in exile. But this will also serve as a distraction for someone to go and steal the Corona Aurora, with that, no one will be able to stop us, not even God Himself"
"I'll go" said Flurious
"No, I will" said Moltor
"Both of you can go" said Lucifer "it will decrease the chance of failure. Be careful, the Sentinel Knight will be guarding it and he is far too loyal to attempt to turn. We will enact our plan in one week, for in six days we shall plan and on the seventh we shall strike"
Unknown to any of them, an angel named Koragg listened outside of the house and smirked before going on his way
Six days later, Lucifer was about to approach the final angel he thought would join him. He'd already converted well over 75% of the angels under him to his side, higher than any planet. They had about one third of the angels on his side. Not the majority, but he shouldn't need it, he ended up with quite a few more generals then was originally expected. He had started his recruiting from the bottom and had worked his way up, as he knew those with the least power tended to be the most hungry for it. "Like you" a voice in his head said, but he knew he was an exception, that was why his plan would succeed, he was an exception. He was approaching his number three angel, he knew his number two, Animus, would never go for it. But his number three should, he was powerful and he could tell he wanted more
"Jonas" said Lucifer "may I have a word with you in private"
"If you insist" said Jonas as they walk away from everyone else "what's this about?"
"Don't you want more out of life?" Lucifer asked
"What do you mean?" Jonas asked
"You know exactly what I mean" said Lucifer "you're always questioning my orders and my authority. You want the power I have, you want the control of a planet"
"And what if I do" said Jonas
"Then I can help you" said Lucifer "listen, you'll never get it with God, you'll be forced to always being third-best and even if you make it to my position you'll still have to serve the weak humans. If you join me, when I make myself ruler of the universe, I will give you my current position as archangel of Earth. I will make you one of my Ten Kings. Join me at dawn outside God's Palace"
"This offer is… well I'm not sure what the word is" said Jonas "but what if I refuse?"
"Then you will face the same consequences as everyone who opposes me" said Lucifer
"Then I suppose I have little choice" said Jonas "I'll be there"
"I knew I could count on you" said Lucifer
The next day at dawn, Lucifer, Shira, Lokar, Zedd, Specter, Omni, Octomus, and Xander approach the Palace gates. Olympius, Loki, Loki, Org, and Morton were waiting to teleport in at Lucifer's signal. Lucifer sees Jonas waiting for him
"Glad to see you could make it" said Lucifer
"I told you I'd be here" said Jonas
Elsewhere, Moltor and Flurious approach the Corona Aurora, which was left unguarded
Back at the Palace, as Lucifer prepares to give the signal golden light streaks from the sky and lands near Jonas. Out of it appears, Michael, Gabriel, Seth, Miriam, Deborah, Dimitria, and Animus.
"What?!" Lucifer screamed "you tricked me!"
"You fooled yourself" said Jonas "you know the reason why I always questioned you? Not because I wanted power, but because you did. But in your pride, you assumed that everyone was just like you"
"I'll kill you for this!" said Lucifer and he gave the signal and all of his angels teleported in. Lucifer went after Jonas and they began to duel, but Jonas was no match. Other angels teleported in and joined Michael and the others in their fight against Lucifer's angels
Near the Corona Aurora, Moltor and Flurious reach it, but it curses them and imprisons them. The Sentinel Knight appears, as he knew what would happen if they touched it, and thanks to Jonas, he was ready. He knew Heaven wasn't safe at this point in time and separated the Jewels from the Crown and threw them all over the Earth
Back near the Palace, the battle rages on. One of Michael's angels hits one of Lucifer's, but then another one of Lucifer's almost hits her, but is stopped by another of Michael's angels
"Thanks" said the angel that was saved "I'm Hadassah"
"I'm Iliad" said Iliad and they fight back to back. The main fights, Jonas vs. Lucifer, Michael vs. Specter, and Gabriel vs. Octomus, spill into the main hall of the Palace, getting the attention of the head of the Royal Guard
"Guards" said the Head Guard "to the Main Hall" and four more angels run in, Auric, the Snow Prince, Poseidon, and Thor joining the fight
"What do you need help with, Gosei?" Thor asked the Head Guard
"Get them out of here!" said Gosei and Gosei draws his sword and runs at Lucifer. Lucifer shoves Jonas backwards and uses telekinesis to slam Gosei against the wall knocking him unconscious.
"I suppose it's time to see if an angel can die or not" said Lucifer and he prepares the finishing cut on Jonas. As he blade swings towards Jonas, another blade cuts his in two. He looks up to see the mighty sword Morning Star, being held by the Son.
"Enough!" said the Son as he teleported everyone outside of the Palace. He waved his hand over the battle, freezing all of Lucifer's angels in place, including Lucifer himself "I gave you everything you could ever need and you squandered it. Now you will lose everything" and he waves his hand and Lucifer and all of his angels are teleported to Earth.
"Now what, milord?" Michael asked
"Michael, you are now leader of the Archangels" said the Son "and Animus, you will take Lucifer's spot as the Archangel of Earth, although I doubt Lucifer will give up the actual day-to-day roles in running the Earth so easily"
"You are correct, My Son" said the Father as he appeared "Lucifer has already tempted Adam and Eve and they fell"
"And soon I will tempt the rest of the planets as well!" said a voice and they turned to see Lucifer and some of his generals
"How did you get back here?" Michael asked
"I allowed them" said the Father
"Why?" Jonas asked
"So they can see their future" said the Spirit as he appears and the Father, the Son, and the Spirit all send out a blast of energy creating three new universes
"What are those?" Lucifer asked
"You wanted your own universe" said the Son "now you have two of them. The first universe is called Hell and will be where all the people you make fall will go. And the second is called the Abyss and will be where you and your followers go. Both will be places of eternal torment"
"You wouldn't do that to your own angels!" said Lucifer
"You are not angels" said the Son "you are demons"
"If I am no longer an angel" said Lucifer "than I will no longer be known by my angelic name. From now on I will be known as Satan"
"Be gone, Satan" said the Father and he waved he his hands and teleports the demons away
"What do we do now?" Gabriel asked
"Now we forge new weapons to use against the Evil One" said the Father. The Father and the Son surround the Spirit and send energy at Him and He teleports to Earth and surrounds it and glows bright before turning invisible
"What is that?" Jonas asked
"The Morphing Grid" said the Son. The Morphing Grid glows and two Power Coins emerge from it, one with a 'N' on it and the other with ׳הוה on it. Then the Father and the Son summons identical Power Morphers and each grab a Power Coin and insert it.
"What are those?" Michael asked
"These will turn us into Power Rangers" said the Son
"IT'S MORPHIN TIME!" said the Father
"THERE'S NO NEED TO FEAR NINJOR IS HERE!" said the Father
"I AM!" said the Son
The angels looked around at the Father and the Son's new forms
"And these will turn you into Power Rangers" said the Son and five Power Crystals appear, a red one containing a dragon, a green one containing a lion, a blue one containing a unicorn, a yellow one containing a griffin, and a pink one containing a firebird. The Unicorn Power Crystal falls into Seth's hands, the Griffin into Miriam's, the Firebird into Debroah's, the Dragon into Michael's, and the Lion into Jonas'. Morphers appear around their wrists and swords appear at their sides
"These are the Quasar Sabers" said the Son "they will be your primary weapons, although you will gain more with time. More morphers will appear over time, but this is what is needed for now. The Morphing Grid can grant more than just raw power, but weapons as well" and a few weapons appear. Excelsior appears and the Sentinel Knight grabs it "Be careful with that it can instantly seal any demon into the Abyss, but it can also seal any angel into Heaven. To allow it to fall into the wrong hands would be disastrous" another sword appears and Poseidon grabs it. The sword has the Black Jewel of the Corona Aurora embedded into it. A hammer called Mjolnir is grabbed by Thor. The Wild Sword appears and is grabbed by Gosei. A golden key appears and is grabbed by Auric
"Now due to future circumstances" said the Father "you may not morph on Earth until the time is right. You may use your weapons, but may not actually morph. The first people to morph on Earth will be five teenagers with attitude thousands of years from now"
"What's a teenager?" Jonas asked
"You'll understand later" said the Son. All of a sudden, an angel named Koragg ran towards the Morphing Grid and tried to grab something from it. He manages to pull out a black staff with a purple wolf on top
"Stop him!" said Gabriel and the angels pulled out their Morphers
"IT'S MORPHIN TIME!" said Michael
"LION!" said Jonas
"FIREBIRD!" said Deborah
"UNICORN!" said Seth
"GRIFFIN!" said Miriam
"RED DRAGONZORD!" said Michael
"Two can play that game" said Koragg
"Get the wand!" said Michael
"DARK SOURCE, EVIL FORCE!" said Koragg "Galwit Mysto Ranger! DARK AS NIGHT, KNIGHT WOLF!" and the Power Rangers battle the Knight Wolf, with the Father and the Son looking on. The Power Rangers use their Quasar Sabers to duel him, knocking him back, but he continues to fight
"Enough" said the Father as he nods to the Son
"SHOGUN MODE!" said the Son as he transformed into the Red Shogun Ranger "Shogun Spear!" and he strikes the Knight Wolf, demorphing him into Koragg
"Be gone, Koragg" said the Father and he banished him
"But milord" said Jonas "he still had the staff"
"Do not worry" said the Son "one day, the dark will be turned to Light"
"Sir" said an angel named Benyamin running up "there are reports from all over the universe of people falling into sin"
"I know" said the Father "the demons are tempting people and succeeding, not to the same level as on Earth, but still succeeding"
"What do we do?" Michael asked "are you going to send all of the people who sinned to Hell. If you do, everyone except for us will be there"
"Like my Son said" said the Father "the dark will be turned into Light" and the angels just looked confused "you'll understand one day"
In the present, Gabriel concludes his story
"That's how Lucifer fell and how the Morphing Grid was first created" said Gabriel
"No offense, Gabriel" said Jake "but why didn't you guys stop Lucifer sooner? It was kind of obvious that he was turning evil long before you did anything"
"That's the thing" said Gabriel "we didn't know what evil was, even Lucifer didn't until he became it. The universe was perfect, the concept of evil wasn't understood"
"So what happened to Lucifer's top generals" said Noah "I mean obviously Zedd and Specter became Lord Zedd and Dark Specter, and some of them kept their names, but who were Shira, Morton, and Xander?"
"They renamed themselves to match Lucifer renaming himself to Satan" said Gabriel "Shira becoming Bansheera, Morton becoming Morticon, and Xander becoming Master Xandred. And on the subject of renaming it's interesting to note that most of the Ancient Rangers stuff has been renamed, they originally didn't have a prefix or suffix to most of their gear or even their team name, they were just the Power Rangers. Their Ancient Swords were simply called swords. They got renamed as more and more Rangers teams came out"
"You mentioned God created three universes that day, but only named two" said Troy "what was the third?"
"Sheol" said Gabriel "which, despite popular belief, was never meant to mean Death, but rather Hope"
"Thanks for the story, Gabriel" said Emma
"You're welcome, Emma" said Gabriel "and now it is time to go, I'll tell you another story sometime" and he teleports away in white. As the Rangers get up, Jake turns to Gia
"Gia" said Jake "Gabriel's story got me thinking. I don't want to be the guy who always wants more. I want to be the guy that is grateful for what he has and I am, except there's one thing I want that I don't have, something more than anything in the world. Gia, we've been through the best days and the worst days in human history. But even the worst days could be the best with you. Gia Moran, will you marry me?" and he gets down on one knee and holds out a ring.
"Yes… yes!" said Gia as she puts on the ring and kisses him
