Marion Foreman lets out an exhausted and frustrated sigh as she closes her notebook. It was another dead end and she is getting tired of this. She is currently investigating the case of an innocent man who gets captured by the Grim to be their lab rat. She asks his family and his friends about the places where he was last seen at. So far, none of them have any traces of him or the Grim. She hates to say this, but the Grim is great at what they do and it is no wonder why they have been winning the war with the Meta Guardians.
Five years ago, the Grim had appeared and made an alliance with the Meta Guardians. At first, the Meta Guardians were hesitant to accept the offer from the Grim as the Grim had unsavory methods of how they will deal with their enemies, but they had to admit, that the Grim is an efficient hero team and know what they were doing. Plus, they tried to keep collateral damage to a minimum which is a good thing for them. After a meeting, Meta Guardians decided to accept the alliance and things went swell for a while. However, they noticed the media was slowly turning against them and kept praising the Grim. Some members of the Meta Guardians wanted to talk about it with the Grim as they thought the Grim was turning the media and the public against them, but others thought it wasn't that big of a deal and it would be petty to blame it on them. However, things took a turn when the Grim assassinated a very important politician who was accused of participating in human trafficking which shocked and angered the Meta Guardians as they didn't interrogate the man and he could be completely innocent of the accusations. The Grim shrugged it off and told them it was better safe than sorry.
Three weeks later, the politician was innocent as the Meta Guardians figured and it took the world by storm. People everywhere want the Meta Guardians and the Grim to answer for their crimes. Meta Guardians had a meeting about this and they decided to come clean and tell the truth about the situation. Unfortunately, the Grim makes an announcement and lies about the situation. They threw the Meta Guardians under the bus making the people turn on them and call for their heads. Seeing that the Grim are a bunch of extremists and backstabbers and realizing that the Grim has been since day one, the Meta Guardians have decided to take down the Grim and tell the people what really happened.
Causing a five-year war to begin and the Grim is winning so far.
'Damn it,' Marion thought as she clenched her pen in frustration, 'I have no lead in this investigation. I couldn't find any clues or the Grim trace in there at all. I need to bust this case fast or else this will be blamed on us again.' Marion made it to her destination. It was a medium-sized warehouse that is located in an abandoned small town which made it the perfect place to hide from the Grim in this location as this was the last place the man was last seen before the Grim. She wasn't only here as Rath, Yoshikawa Yuzuki, Hwang Hye-Su, Saya, Maede Mei, and Scott Pilgrim come with her in case she needs backup. She huffs as she walks into a medium-sized that her team was staying in.
"Ah, you're back early," Hye-Su said while drinking her coffee. Rath and Yuzuki were talking to each other, Saya was lost in her thoughts and Mei and Scott weren't anywhere to be found. "Found any evidence?"
Marion shook her head. "Unfortunately, no. Those bastards are good at hiding evidence," She sighs. "I don't what is it with the Grimm, but they are hard to get evidence for."
"Don't give up hope," Saya said in a low tone, but loud enough for Marion and Hye-Su to hear her. "We will find a way to gather evidence against them and take them down."
Marion lightly smiles at the girl's optimism. "I wish I had your positive attitude,"
Before anybody could say anything else, the door opens and everyone turns to see Mei and Scott walking in with wide smiles.
"There you two are," Yuzuki said. "I was getting worried about you two."
"There's no need to worry about us," Mei said. "We can handle ourselves just fine."
"We know you two can, but we are facing the Grimm here. There's no telling how low they will go to defeat us," Rath said
"You do have a point, but we possibly may have a new ally that will turn the tides of this war," Scott said.
Everyone furrowed their brow in interest.
Marion is the first one to speak. "Oh? Who is this ally?"
"Jayvon Jayson," Mei answered with a smug grin.
Everybody's eyes widened in shock. They all have heard about Jay-Jay. How could they not? He is only the one beside them that is standing up to them and so far, He is winning. They heard rumors about Him being invincible to all forms of damage. The Grimm tried to stab Him, poison Him, bomb Him, etc. Yet, not of that worked as Jay-Jay no-sell the attacks and delivered a well-deserved ass-whooping. Although, they think stories are exaggerated as they believe no one is invincible. However, they can't deny the fact that Jay-Jay will be their greatest asset in the war as not only is He strong, but He is also resourceful and calm as He has been gathering evidence against the Grimm. Thanks to the evidence, the public is slowly turning against the Grimm as the evidence is undeniable. So with Him on their team, they will have this in the bag.'
"Really? When?" Yuzuki asked, happy that Jay-Jay might join their side.
"Fernanda told us that she and He are having a meeting tonight," Scott answered.
"Well, let's just hope it goes well," Rath said with a toothy smile, she turns to Marion. "So what the plan now, Marion?"
"Well, I heard that the Grimm are having a shipment coming by here in two days," Marion answered. "I was hoping that we can stay here a little bit longer to stop the shipment. What do all of you?"
"Well, you can count on me," Mei quickly responded.
"Anything to stop the Grimm plans," Saya said with a small smile.
"I'm always itching to put a stop to the Grimm plan," Rath cracked her knuckles and flashed an excited grin.
"Count me in," Scott simply said.
"Me as well," Yuzuki said,
"Those bastards still need to pay for betraying us so I'm in," Hye-Su growled.
Marion lets out a small grin. "I knew I can count on all of you. Now, I suggest all of us should rest because we are going need all the energy to fight against the Grimm,"
All of them nodded and went back to what they were doing.
Marion looks over her notes and wonders why she has never found any evidence. She is a brilliant detective and has solved impossible cases. Yet, she could never find any evidence against the Grimm. It bruised her pride and make her feel she could never live up to her family legacy.
She sighs. 'Wallowing in my self-pity will not help me in any way. I need to get better so I can make sure the right people are brought to justice,'
