He Kissed You
"He kissed you."
Birman looked up from the accounting books in front of her into the emerald green eyes of the Weiß playboy. "I've already told you, Yohji. He caught me off guard."
"Tch...that's why you didn't fight back? Or why you kissed him back? I know what a girl that doesn't want to be kissed acts like, Birman," he returned, stepping around the small desk to stand beside her. "He's an enemy. He tried to kill me!"
"Yohji, my personal life is no more your concern than yours is mine. I don't lecture you on all of the girls you see, do I?" Her tone turned a bit icy as she fixed a number in the book in front of her.
"My girls weren't enemies!"
She looked up at him, and as soon as she did, he knew he had pushed the conversation too far. Normally compassionate eyes turned ice cold. "Really? What about the Schreient girl?"
Yohji pressed his lips together in a thin frown as he turned away from her. "That was different. I..."
"You endangered the whole team for what you wanted, and potentially even Kritiker. Whereas, if you hadn't happened on that scene, you never would have even thought that there was something going on, would you have?" Yohji's frown deepened with her words, but he didn't reply. She knew she had hurt him with her choice of words. She hadn't wanted to--somewhere in her heart, she still cared about the eldest member of the team--but he had hurt her at the same time.
"He kissed you."
She sighed. "Yes, Yohji, he kissed me."
A sad smile slowly touched his lips as he turned back to face her. "Lucky guy." The smile grew a bit before he stepped towards her and leaned forward in one quick motion to press his lips to her forehead.
Her eyes widened in a little bit of shock. He pulled away without another word, and turned towards the door to the outside. She opened her mouth to say something, but there was no use. He'd never forget that moment, and neither would she. Too bad that their reasons for remembering it were completely different.
Too bad that she had no idea where the German telepath that called her his lover was.
A drop splashed on the page of the book that she was looking at, smudging the ink and causing her to curse under her breath. She quickly closed the accounting book. She knew it was hopeless to fight the tears. She never was good at hiding them.
I'm sorry, kitten. I really did mean to come home to you.
He thought he was dying when he sent her that message with his talent. But from what Omi had told her, Weiß hadn't expected to still be in the world of the living when the place collapsed into the sea. He could still be alive. There was a chance. They never found the bodies--not any of the bodies--so he could still be alive.
He could still be alive.
