Prologue

Starling's point of view

The frost clung to the bush's dead branches leafbares frozen grip had tightened around the Twoleg place the bitter cold wind howled across the courtyard were the children of the kin were setting up their main base of operation's situated near the edge of Twoleg place close to the forest wear the clans live for now Sleekwhisker was biding her time waiting for the right time to strike.

At least that's what Starling though was happening he was so low in the rankings of the children of the king that he never fully knew what was happening only getting a general idea of Sleekwhisker's plan's from overhearing other higher ranking cats talking about it and to be honest he didn't really care about intergroup disputes it's a pointless waste of time

For now he was helping Elephant and London with the finishing the final parts fortify the fencing surrounding there camp incase of attack with lichen and brambles.

" You Starling how's the reinforcements to the fence coming along?" a voice broke Starling from his train of thoughts turning his head around he was now face to face with Duke on of the highest ranking cats in the Children of the kin

" Oh Duke um reinforcements are going well me Elephant and London have almost finished putting up the lichen" the orange tom turned his head to observe there work

" Good" Duke gave a curt nod "I came to tell you three that Roach said that Sleekwhisker want's to see everyone under the old monster skeleton now" Duke padded off back towards the other side of the camp near the skeleton of an old monster that Sleekwhisker gave speeches from Starling trailed after him followed by elephant and London.

" this is it were defiantly going for the clans next" Elephant spoke out as she padded through the snow "

" Ya theirs nothing else Sleekwhisker would find important enough to address to everyone" London added.

Almost everyone was already by the gathered around the old monster skeleton Starling sat down at the very back Elephant and Spoon's sat down beside him.

Murmurs and whispers arose across the clearing everybody new what this meeting was about it was about the attack on the clans but that wouldn't stop cats from gossiping about it and how Sleekwhisker had planned the operation.

From the crowed Starling could make out the pelts of his brother Darkness and his sisters Nettle and Kite he didn't know were his third sister mint was but she was probably somewhere in the crowed.

" Look their she is" Elephant pointed to the monster skeleton starling's green eyes focused in on the pale yellow pelt of Sleekwhisker her green eyes glowing in the night.

" Children of the kin attention now" everyone fell silent.

" The Children of the kin are thriving are number of recruits have greatly increased we are well feed thanks to the great number of rats in the Twoleg nest" Starling sat in attention.

" I have decided my Children that now is the time that we finally fulfill Darktail's dream and get rid of those retched clans once and for all!"

A Chorus of cheers rang through out the kin starling joined in with Elephant and Spoon's.

" Silence!" the kin quickly fell silent

" Of course this endeavor will take some time we can't underestimate are opponents the clan cats are trained in combat and even with are growing numbers they still outnumber us even in this weak state they will be a challenge"

" So to win we must use strategy we will attack in waves groups will charge in and fight the clans once the first group is weakened a second group will take there place when we continue cycling through each group the clans will surely fall"

Starling sat listening to his leaders speech heart pounding in his chest the plan made perfect since but with how low his rank was he would for sure be sent to the first wave with the highest chance of death in battle.

" Children of the kin tonight is the night that we avenge Darktail may his death not go in vain!"
