Peter walked pass Kayla's table where she was sitting and talking with Lana for what seemed like the millionth time in just one lunch hour.

He looked over at Kayla and ran right into Lu. "Watch where you're going," Lu said, teasingly.

"Sorry," Peter said. He had dropped some medical forms that he needed for a mom-to-be he was going to meet in a little while.

"What's up?" Lu asked.

"I'm just..." He looked up at Kayla who sipped at her coffee and then laughed at something Lana said.

"Ask her out!" Lu told him.

"Do what?"

"You know you want to."

"I can't!"

"Yes, you can!"

Peter shook his head. "That's out of the question. We both decided to just remain friends."

Lu shrugged. "Whatever," she said. "I don't believe you."

"But we did, Lu," Peter said, in his defense.

"All right!" Lu said. "But I'm just saying that something else can happen and you're going to end up getting hurt."

"How?" he asked. But he decided that he didn't want to know.

He looked at Kayla. Compared to him she was just a baby, how could he even have these thoughts about her? He was just safer watching her from afar.
