—OoOoO—
Who said the nation's capital couldn't be a battlefield? Who said hell only exists in the underworld? And who said that a hero always won against evil and wicked?
Tokyo used to be a beautiful city. A city founded in the 16th century and had gone through many ups and downs in the history. Tokyo was one of the few cities worldwide that could withstand the onslaught of an ever-changing civilisation without resting. Tokyo was the centre and a symbol of how the Land of the Samurai became one of the world's centres.
However, Tokyo's prestige had vanished. The city that was full of Japanese pride had fallen. Not by attacks from other superpowers but by the invasion of supernatural beings. It opened with the Shibuya Incident, then the Culling Game, until finally the merging of all non-sorcerers in Japan with Tengen, which created a creature symbolised by destruction. However, above all, what made Tokyo devastated was the embodiment of natural disaster himself…, Ryoumen Sukuna.
"You as well as this Heavenly Restriction girl, have impressed me with how far you can go."
The king of curses, the demon of calamity, he who fell from grace. Those awful names were just a passing wind for him. Of the many nicknames he had, he liked his real name and identity the most, Ryoumen Sukuna.
The king stood on the levelled ground without a single building remaining. His body was full of muscles and elegant black patterns. Two of his four hands each held a trident and a katana. In the rest of his hands, there was a boy who was being strangled and a girl whose collar he was holding and drooping limply.
"Okkotsu Yuta, right? I acknowledge your abilities and capabilities. You know how to be strong. However, it's a shame that the wall standing before you is me."
Sukuna then looked down at his right hand holding a girl's collar.
"Zen'in Maki. I'm impressed that people like you actually exist. I have always dreamed of the embodiment of humans who have been released from all the shackles of curses. However, again, here I am, Ryoumen Sukuna."
There was no response from the two teenagers. They had been battered, and they had been shattered. Their souls were about to dry up after all the efforts they and their companions had made ended in vain. However, the fire was still burning, and that hope had not wholly disappeared. But, unfortunately, their weak bodies could not obey the fire within their souls.
"It doesn't matter if you are fucking Sukuna or a bitchy bastard. Because those with physical form will definitely perish in the end," said the girl with the last of her strength.
The king looked down at the girl who was limp at his feet. However, just as he was about to reply, another voice of the boy he clutched at preceded him.
"This country is called the Land of the Rising Sun not without reason. We may lose to you, but you can't take over his body completely, can you? Inside there, I know Itadori-kun is still fighting on his battlefield."
With their minds synchronising with each other, Yuta and Maki simultaneously poured all their remaining energy into one sentence.
"In the end, Gojo-sensei/Satoru will completely destroy you.""
Sukuna chuckled, hearing the baseless beliefs they had.
"Even in front of death's gate, you brats are stubborn, huh? This world is too cruel, and you should be grateful to meet me, a humble person. In that case, why don't you two take a break and become one, inside my stomach of course."
—OoOoO—
A human's life was concise. 60 or 70 years could just go by. However, the value of a person's life was seen when they died and how they lived their lives. Life was an adventure, every journey always left a trail, and those trails would be engraved on paper using a life pen.
What determined whether you fail or succeed was not yourself but the future scholars who would read your life stories. Humans just needed to live wholeheartedly, do their best, and rest in peace. Things like sin and karma were inviolable matters for humans. Because of the judgment of all that, He Who Stand Above All always seen and witnessed.
"It was an interesting journey, Okkotsu Yuta. All problems were always bestowed upon you without stopping, all misfortunes in this world were always be with you. You have every right to curse this world for your suffering, but you are a young man who never strays from your path."
How humans died was only the result of what they had lived during their lifetime, which was called karma. However, many also got the worst deaths in the world, even though they had been good servants. They say justice and true pleasure would be yours after death. However, no one really knew what really awaited you after death?
Okkotsu Yuta opened his eyes slowly. The dazzling light made his eyelids have to be forced to squint. Reflexively, he brought his right hand to block the light that entered his eyes. Yuta blinked a few times, hoping his eyes would quickly adapt to the new environment before him.
"You finally awake, my son."
Yuta was shocked. His eyes widened at the sudden baritone voice. He quickly got up from where he was lying, even though he had only regained half-consciousness.
"Who?"
Yuta scanned the surroundings. He did this repeatedly to ensure he didn't miss a single dust. However, no matter how often he looked around, he could find nothing in this all-white place.
'Where am I?'
Yuta tried to dig his memory back. He may not be the most intelligent person, but he was very confident in memorising. From all his memories, he agreed that he had died at Sukuna's hands. However, witnessing his body without any slightest injury raised a big question in his head.
'Where am I? Where's Maki-san? Rika!'
Nil. Nothing happened when he tried to summon Rika, his shikigami. Let alone Rika, he couldn't even access his cursed energy and sense the existence of his famously huge energy pool.
"You could say that you are now in the realm of the afterlife."
"What do you mean by the afterlife? And who are you?"
"The afterlife…, that's exactly what it sounds like. As for me, you humans gave me many nicknames. The Almighty God, The Supreme Lord, Vishvarupa, five-dimensional being, or whatever, I don't care. In fact, people of your land also call me Ame-no-Minakanushi."
Yuta actually did not want to believe the boast. However, all of his logic was stuck as he tried to digest the situation. All the nerves in his body seemed to scream loudly that this voice that appeared was a small part of the manifestation of the Creator himself.
"If I'm dead, what am I doing here? Is this a judgment or something? What about Maki-san and the others? Then, what about Sukuna and the creatures that Kenjaku created?"
He, who claimed to be The Almighty, was silent for a moment in the face of a barrage of questions from Yuta.
"You can ask one by one slowly, my son."
"I don't want to make small talk," Yuta answered briefly.
Even though Yuta couldn't see it, he somehow knew that the creature was now sighing.
"Right. You are indeed faced with my judgment right now. And as for your other questions, I won't answer them because the soul that resides here no longer has any ties to your mortal world."
"As far as I know, in the trial of the afterlife, won't my hands, feet, eyes, and whole body testify without my control?"
"I'm impressed that you understand that far."
Yuta had never declared himself to be a religious person. He was not that faithful and didn't memorise the entire contents of the Tripitaka. In fact, he only partially remembered the contents of the Sutra Pitaka. However, he was the type of person who kept his beliefs alone. But, in essence, he didn't need other people to see what he did and what he worshipped.
Following Yuta's silence, God finally explained why he still had all his consciousness despite facing the trial.
"I enjoy the journey of life that you show, O human, but I am not satisfied with the ending you achieve."
Yuta was silent for a moment and said, "Are those words appropriate for God to say?"
"I have an inviolable prerogative. I judge all by my power and by my justice."
Hearing this, Yuta couldn't help but be silent. If you had dealt with a prerogative, no gap could be used for a discussion space.
"To be honest, you are too clean for a mere flesh of human. You are a patient person. You go through all the problems without the slightest influence of the evil's whispers. You show qualities that only those I have sent can achieve."
Yuta was flattered to hear all the positive things directed at him. However, he had never felt that he was a good person. He always did everything wholeheartedly, but that didn't mean he was a saint.
"I've also killed humans, you know?" said Yuta.
"But you did it as your last option. Besides, you brandish your sword only at those worthy of punishment."
The boy did not reply to God's words. He never thought that he was a good person. He was aware that he was someone his friend could rely on, but Yuta had never considered himself to be that high. What he always did was only do everything with his best, always stick to his stance, and take all the responsibility that his two hands could hold.
However, if someone looked up to him, of course, it made him happy. Because that meant the path he's been taking was the right one.
The God looked at Yuta, who was still silent and then continued.
"You are indeed not a saint. And I never thought there was an ordinary human being who was free from all the taints of the world, neither from you, nor from anyone. However, what you did was more than what was meant for you. You are fighting against your own destiny. Unfortunately, you ended up with the most disappointing story."
"Please, get straight to the point."
Hearing Yuta's demands and the seriousness in his eyes, The Mighty Creature sighed.
"To be honest, I want to see your story one more time. So, I'm giving you two offers. First, reincarnate into your world with a whole new body, background, memories, and destiny. Or secondly, reincarnate into another world, with your old memories and abilities still bound."
Yuta was slightly flabbergasted by the offer. He had often heard of a system of reincarnation in several religions. However, he did not expect that it actually existed. At first, he only thought that when he was judged in the afterlife, he would immediately be thrown into heaven or hell, depending on his deeds and sins.
Yuta pondered the two options in his head. Living again did sound tempting. Unfortunately, if you think about it further, he had to return to dealing with that cursed-rotten world.
"What if I refuse?" asked Yuta.
"Then I'll just have to force my first choice on you."
Yuta grumbled in his mind. His eyes narrowed, staring at something he couldn't even see.
If you think about it, what he said did make sense. It didn't matter to God whether Yuta refused or not. If he forced the first choice on him, Yuta would live with a whole new body, name, memory, and background, a literal reincarnation. In other words, he wouldn't be Okkotsu Yuta anymore, so Yuta's refusal would be meaningless.
All in all, the first choice was a forced choice if Yuta refused the offer, while the second offer was an option that would happily be given if Yuta accepted it.
"What about Maki-san? You said you were impressed with my life. If that's the only reason, shouldn't Maki-san also deserve this offer?"
"Like I said earlier, Zen'in Maki will face her own trial. Unlike you, that girl massacred her entire clan alone, even those who had nothing to do with her."
"They turned a blind eye to the plight of Maki-san and her sister. Isn't that the same as guilty?" Yuta protested.
"They are indeed guilty, but that doesn't mean they are directly the source of Zen'in Maki's suffering. Those who sinned should be punished accordingly, but the girl gave a cruel vengeance based solely on her grudge and anger."
Yuta couldn't deny that logic. In his heart, he would always be by Maki's side—as well as the rest of his friends—no matter the circumstances. However, he couldn't resist the thought that what the girl was doing was too much.
"Your choice, O human?" asked The God again.
Reincarnated back to his world with no memories, no experience, and with a completely different background. That meant he had to face off against the cursed spirits once again. However, there was no guarantee that he would still become a sorcerer. It could be that his brain failed to develop and his cursed technique didn't awaken, or even that he couldn't use the cursed energy anymore. The possibility existed, and the opportunity was not small.
Not being a sorcerer in that world meant he had to live in ignorance. What's more, in the era he lived in, was the conflict caused by Sukuna and Kenjaku still ongoing? Either way, living in ignorance was the worst torture for him. His core soul would probably be in torment for the rest of his life when he was again faced with helplessness.
Even if he became a sorcerer once again, would he be able to change things? Sukuna was too strong. The distance he had—as the second most powerful sorcerer in the modern era—with them was simply too great. Even if he had the potential to be as strong as Gojo Satoru, he would have to wait at least 17 years for him to truly become a worthy sorcerer.
Yuta's soul had been shattered when faced with the majesty of Ryoumen Sukuna. Whatever options he thought of, they always ended in helplessness.
"It's okay to run. Your role in your world is done. Well, you did even more than what you should have contributed. Ryoumen Sukuna, Kenjaku, and the cursed spirit he created, you can leave that to your master, Gojo Satoru."
Yuta looked up with a face full of hope.
"Gojo-sensei will be released from the seal?"
"I won't tell you that far. However, the world always tries to keep a balance. With the rise of Ryoumen Sukuna and Kenjaku's scheming, it's only natural that Gojo Satoru will restore the balance of the world again, because that's his fate."
The creature did not explain it in detail. But Yuta finally breathed a sigh of relief hearing that statement. The weight on his shoulders and the fog that shrouded his mind all disappeared, and it felt like there was no regret for him to fear.
Yes, that's what he remembered. Those were his last words to Sukuna. He, Maki, and the rest of his comrades might have fallen before Sukuna. However, at least his juniors were still struggling to reclaim the back gate of the Prison Realm and free Gojo Satoru. And in the end, he believed everything would be fine.
"Alright, I accept your offer to go to another world," Yuta said calmly, "By the way, can I get a leak or what is my role like there?"
"It wouldn't be fun if I gave you a spoiler. Besides, you don't have to worry about your job. Just do everything you want. Because what I want to see is your story in its entirety, Okkotsu Yuta."
With that sentence, the initially completely white room was now rapidly being swallowed up by boundless darkness. It was like being trapped inside the Domain Expansion. However, this shrouding darkness numbed all of Yuta's senses. He could not see, could not hear, and could not feel. It was as if he had been swallowed up by darkness without knowing when the light would return to his eyes.
On the other hand, beyond the darkness that engulfed Yuta, an extraordinarily bright light and an overwhelming presence appeared in the all-white room where Yuta had previously been.
"My blessings are with you, The Fated One."
—OoOoO—
Cedar is a coastal city and a port city in the country of Fiore. The town was not as big as another port city, but the maritime traffic was enough to revive the economy. Most of the population were fishermen, some worked loading and unloading containers at the pier, and many also depended their fate on trading activities.
However, wherever it was, the oldest profession in the world—prostitution— was always relatively easy to find.
"I am home."
The distinctive voice of a small child sounded at the same time as a door opened. It was an average door made of wood, a door that was the only meant of getting in and out of a small house. There was no reply, even though there was a woman sitting by the window smoking a cigarette.
"Mom, Grandpa Jenkins gave me some bread for us to have mini dinner," repeated the boy after entering the house.
The woman finally noticed the little boy. However, a few seconds later, she turned her face to the window and exhaled the smoke.
The house was not big. It was just a tiny house with one bed. And the whole building was made of wood. Yet, although the overall condition still looked good, some corners showed the weathering of the wooden walls.
"I don't need it. You can eat them all, Yuta."
Yuta, just Yuta, no surname. He was a nine years old boy with a very healthy and fit body. His jet-black hair was short and dishevelled, making him look like an adorable little boy. The surrounding community knew Yuta as a smart, polite, and mature, even though he was only a child.
However, no one knew, including his mother, that the boy had a big secret.
'I'm a little worried that my presence in this world will bring about an unnatural change. That's why I always look for the latest information as much as I can,' he thought.
The world where he was reincarnated was a world that was far different from the place he used to be. This world was similar to Europe in the Middle Ages. However, unlike in his world, spiritual knowledge like magic was widely known. Moreover, the source of power in this world was called 'mana'. At first glance, Yuta thought it felt the same as cursed energy. Only, this 'mana' felt purer than the cursed energy he had.
Besides, magic was relatively easy to learn. Unlike cursed techniques, which were innate and inviolable abilities, magic spells in this world seemed more universal. So, you could learn magic techniques as you wish. It's just that once you determine the magic you were practising, the chances of learning other types of magic would drop drastically.
Just when all his powers returned at the age of six, Yuta began actively searching for the latest information in the world through newspapers or researching old documents in the library. His concern about the butterfly effect of the emergence of foreign energy in this world made it difficult for him to sleep several times. However, after confirming that there had been nothing for years since his powers had returned, the restlessness in his heart was gradually lifted.
"Are you going to work without having dinner first, mom?" asked Yuta.
"Just a few loaves of bread won't give me enough strength. I can ask my loyal customers to buy me something later."
"I know, but you always eat before work even if it's just one bite, right?"
The woman glared at him, "Could you not be fussy over trivial matters?"
Yuta immediately swallowed the words he was about to spit out. He knew his mother was hot-tempered and didn't even behave like a mother. However, this was the first time to see the woman who brought him into this world behave like that.
"I am deeply sorry, mom," said Yuta shortly.
With that, he immediately went to the kitchen, which was still on the same room with the living room and bed, to put the bread he got. However, Yuta could hear his mother's cursing due to the tiny house's size.
"Sorry your ass. Everything would be better if you never born. No, my life wouldn't have fallen apart if I hadn't met that man in the first place."
Yuta paid no heed to those unpleasant words. Thanks to his mental age of 26 years, if combined with his past life. If he had been an ordinary child, his soul might have been blown to pieces hearing his mother not wanting her child to exist.
His mother was a beautiful 28-year-old woman. In other words, she was only at 19 when she brought Yuta into this world. Being a mother at that age was very difficult, especially for those who did not have many skills. In addition, the cost of raising a child was prohibitive, and it would only increase if it was added to the price of her own needs.
She had several job options then, but none could quickly bring her a lot of money. Because of that, she decided to become a prostitute. Selling her young body did get a lot of money into her pocket easily and quickly. However, the money was like an illusion.
Being a prostitute meant selling a body for money. To maintain body value and attract customers, body care was needed, and that could be considered not cheap. Hair care, skin care, oral care, cosmetics, perfumes, sexy clothes, and many more that could attract attention. Not to mention, sometimes she had to personally dig for some information so as not to lag behind her competitors.
In essence, money that was easy to get must also be easy to go away. Unfortunately, Yuta's mother was too late to realise that until her life completely fell apart.
If Yuta was just an ordinary kid, he would live in hunger and poverty. However, Yuta was lucky to still have all his powers, memories, and experiences. He was also fortunate to have an old couple who owned the tavern not far from his home, and would accept a kid like him to work there. Because of the money he made, Yuta didn't have to worry about starving.
While Yuta was preparing dinner, he saw his mother throwing her cigarette out the window. After that, his mother immediately rose from her seat. She, wearing clothes that revealed most of her skin from the start, went to the wardrobe and opened it. Then, she took her coat and quickly put it on. Well, it wasn't a new sight for Yuta, but something she did before leaving for work had taken him by surprise.
"Eh? That a lot of money?" Yuta chirped when he saw his mother put some money on the table.
It was routine for his mother to give some money to Yuta before she left for prostitution. However, just a few coins were usually enough to buy a cheap snack. That was why seeing his mother leave some banknotes that seemed to be enough for one week's needs made the special-grade sorcerer wonder.
"I've had a generous customer these days. He gave me a lot of money and bought me delicious food," replied his mother.
Yuta didn't just buy that excuse. It was extraordinary for his mother, who had never shown her motherly side all this time, to suddenly give him so much pocket money. His mother, who said she had eaten good food for the past few days while he always ate the same thing, had already proven that his mother was just a selfish bitch who didn't even care about her child. However, Yuta decided to drop his thoughts just like that.
"Thank you, mother," Yuta said with a big smile.
His mother stared at Yuta for a few moments, longer than usual. It was a rare sight, and the look behind her eyes was hard to pour into words. After several seconds, she finally left the house without saying a single word.
Did he not like his mother? Yes, he didn't like her. Did he hate her? No, not slightly. Even as hard as he tried, Yuta couldn't bring himself to hate the woman who gave him this second life. No matter how selfish or cold she was as a mother, she was still his mother in this world and the only family he knew and had. Moreover, even though she was selfish, his mother still had a hand in raising Yuta all this time.
He did intend to live independently in the future. He wanted to explore this world and see what he could do here. However, until that day, until this small body could fully adapt to all his powers, Yuta was still thinking of staying in this port city. Instead, he wanted to wait for the right opportunity to leave his mother naturally without cutting his ties to her.
—OoOoO—
Well, the opportunity came sooner than he expected. Or rather, he just didn't have to bother looking for an excuse to leave his mother. Why? It was simply because his own mother left Yuta instead.
It started a year ago when his mother suddenly left a large sum of money before going into prostitution. At that time, she had not been home for almost two days. Worried, Yuta went to the brothel where his mother worked. He asked the people there, and the answer he got was that his mother had fled with her customer, or maybe now became a lover.
Since then, Yuta has lived alone. Many people pitied him, including old man Jenkins and grandma Cologne, the old couple who owned the tavern where Yuta worked. However, Yuta himself didn't think much of his mother. Even though he was currently just a 10-year-old child, inside, he was a grown dude.
"Are you really want to go, Yuta-kun?" asked old man Jenkins.
Responding to her husband's question, Cologne added.
"You don't have to look for your mother. You can stay here with us as long as you want."
Yuta just grimaced at the offer. Then, with his well-educated manners, Yuta bowed to the old couple.
"Thanks for the offer, but I have to turn it down. I can't reconcile my mind when I think about how my mother is doing."
Lie. Yuta was not worried about his mother, who ran away one year ago with his new lover. Quite the opposite, he never thought of following his mother's life at all. His current aspiration to find his mother was just an excuse he made so the old couple could willingly let him go. Or, Yuta also didn't matter if they decided to accompany him on his journey. However, Yuta was sure that was impossible, considering they also had a tavern to manage.
"Don't worry, grandma. I can definitely take care of myself," Yuta assured them.
At the same time, the boy pulled out three strands of his hair. With his jujutsu sorcery, he summoned three small, white, round shikigami with bat-like wings through the hair strands.
"See, I can even use magic," said Yuta cheerfully.
Well, actually, he had been able to summon the little shikigami ever since all his powers had returned. He could even call fully realised Rika if he wanted to. However, to use the cursed technique he had been copying all this time, his tiny body still couldn't keep up with the burden of that powers. Moreover, there was one interesting fact that he realised.
That was the capacity of his cursed energy. When all of his powers returned when he was six, his cursed energy was literally the same amount as when he died. As a teenager, Yuta was famous as a sorcerer with an abundance of cursed energy. Even his energy pool was almost bottomless. However, when he was reborn in this world and regained all his powers, his cursed energy capacity also grew as Yuta grew older.
In other words, his current cursed energy was more than his past and would continue to increase. He did admit that this was very helpful for him. However, that didn't mean a large amount of cursed energy didn't cause problems either. In his first life, Yuta had a challenging time controlling his own cursed energy, causing his energy efficiency to be very low. And with his cursed energy currently snowballing like a child's development meant that the difficulty in controlling his energy was also increasing.
"Well, that's really impressive of you, Yuta-kun," said grandmother Cologne looking at Yuta's three little shikigami.
Cologne—who felt sorry for Yuta—always thought that Yuta was a very talented child in many ways. She wasn't very much about magic but seeing a ten-year-old kid like Yuta able to summon magic was amazing. In addition, his high socialisation and adaptability made the grandmother believe that the child she had considered her own grandson would be able to survive under any circumstances.
By the way, speaking of shikigami, Yuta was a little surprised to learn that the people of this world could see them. This reinforces Yuta's theory which holds that 'mana' also comes from the same source as the cursed energy, although the characteristics of the two were quite different.
Old Jenkins—the grandmother's husband—patted his wife on the shoulder and turned her attention to him.
"That's enough. He may be a child, but he can survive despite having a mother like that."
"Hey, keep your word in front of him," snapped grandmother Cologne.
Old Jenkins pretended to cough to clear his throat. He was also aware of his negligence, which allowed obscene words to escape his mouth.
"The point is, Yuta-kun is indeed a child, but his way of thinking is like an adult. He had already shown his qualities as a man. And when a man is determined, that determination is hard to break."
Yuta released his shikigami and let the three creatures disappear in thin air. Simultaneously, he nodded firmly at the old man's words.
"Grandpa Jenkins was right. I also want to go on adventures, as well as find my father."
"Your father?" asked Cologne.
It was the first time she had heard Yuta bring up his father. Anyone who lived in this neighbourhood must know that Yuta was a child who was born without a father. Let alone Yuta, they didn't even know which man impregnated his mother.
"Do you know anything about your father, son?" asked old Jenkins.
"Have you ever met him?" added his wife.
Yuta shook his head slowly with a smile still on his face.
"I've only heard my mother curse him several times for getting her pregnant. So, if it's just a name, I know my father's name."
True. Unlike the lie about him looking for his mother. For this one, Yuta was serious in his words to find the man. However, it wasn't like he wanted to whine about accountability issues or anything like that. After coming to this world, Yuta had a great curiosity and thirst for new knowledge. The existence of his father was one on his list. However, that's all. He would find out what his father was like and leave him alone.
He was curious about the people who had contributed to his birth.
"If I may ask, what is your father's name?" asked the Cologne grandmother.
"I heard from the knights that he is a famous magician from Magnolia, and his name is…."
Yuta paused for a moment, which he did on purpose to intrigue the old couple.
"… Gildarts Clive."
—To Be Continued—
Author Note: Well, I know I shouldn't write a new story. However, I couldn't help it as I've been reading the Fairy Tail marathon for the past few weeks. The idea of Yuta and the after-effects of reading the Fairy Tail sequel keep haunting me. So, I decided to put it into writing.
For my main fic, I'll probably update it next week at the earliest, depending on how busy I am, though.
Shortly, I hope you like this story. And yes, Yuta and Cana are step-sibling, but there will be no romance between them. i have a girl on my mind, but since i am not going too strict to this story, i openly for the chances of harem, but it depends on the story, though.
