Hart Plaza - Mall

The crowd was quiet, trembling in fear. Police cars surrounded the building, SWAT officers lined up, pointing their guns toward the mall.

Outside, a crowd of reporters, their flashing cameras trying to pick a perfect shot for their articles while police officers tried to control the crowd, however most of those were stiff, a circle LED in their right temple, being called 'police bots' by their human companions.

Inside, several civilians cowered on the floor, tears running down their cheeks as they held into each other, while looking up at the target of their fear.

It was not the man holding a squirming teenager in his hands, nor the gun being held in his trembling hands. It was more due to the red flashing LED on the side of his temple.

It was the fact the Android pulled out a gun and was now endangering human lives.

It was the fact a 'Deviant' Android was revealing against humanity.

Androids populated Detroit among the humans residing in the city. They could be your maid, your doctor, your teacher, a security guard, receptionist, the person who waters your plants.

Androids were humanity's great creations and now they could be their own destruction.

Outside, an automatic taxi pulled just behind a van that said 'Unit 32', where still several SWAT officers remained, glancing at the cameras the helicopters surrounding the building held as if to find an entrance or a good shot to take the Android down.

The taxi doors opened and from inside, a woman wearing black suit pants, heels, a buttoned up white shirt with a blue and grey tie and a grey semi formal blazer, a neon blue arm band, a triangle on the side of it's chest. The woman surveyed the scene, a calm blue pulsing light coming from the temple.

An Android.

The Android's long brown hair was pulled back with a tie and blue ribbon, hair parted down the middle with two strands framing the sides of its face, cautious brown eyes and a serious and calm expression as it surveyed the scene it arrived to.

In the back of its jacket, the word Android flashed alongside its model, a RK850. In the front, on the right side of its chest, the model again appeared, and underneath, it's serial number #323 490 345 - 50.

SELECTING PRIORITY

FIND CAPTAIN ALLEN

Created by Cyberlife, the Android knew its programming was to deal with deviated Androids and find the reason for Deviancy. It's protocols reminded it to give a proper and good first impression, fixing the lapels of its blazer, straightening it up, dusting nonexistent dust from its pants before it began scanning face after face, ignoring the indignant whispers of several officers as it walked past them without a second glance.

The Android passed next to a police officer, through the holographic 'crime scene' sign, doing a slight scan, a slight frown in its features as it didn't find the human it was looking for.

Shouting closer to the mall caught its attention, a man was facing it and it took the opportunity to scan his face.

CAPTAIN ALLEN

DOB: 12-02-1994

Criminal Record: None

Mission accomplished

/New Mission

FIND WHAT HAPPENED.

With a new objective in mind, the Android made it's way toward the captain, a confident stride toward the man. It was then when he noticed said Android appearing, a scowl on his face but it didn't hold as much heat as before.

"Another one of you" the captain didn't let the Android say a word. It's LED flickered slightly at the discontent on his voice, "Don't tell me, you're an android sent by Cyberlife?"

"That is correct, Captain" the smooth, calm voice of the Android reached his eardrums and he raised an eyebrow. "I am Cora. I assume you have already met my partner, Connor?"

Cyberlife told them they be partners.

And so, despite of having never met each other, their status breach between the two of them was that, 'partners - trusted', and so they referred to each other that way.

So much for Cyberlife to not engage on Deviancy, they still pre-constructed a loyal bond between two prototype Androids.

"I have" the captain said, dismissively, turning toward the mall. Cora followed his gaze, it's irises moving around the building, zooming through each exit, entrance. "It took a teenager hostage, stole a security guard's gun and has around a dozen of civilians with it. We have tried to talk, to enter. It's been firing at everyone who moves"

Probability of success: 35%

Cora's LED pulsed and cycled with the information, still looking toward the building. "Is there anything regarding the deviant that could tell us about it?"

Captain Allen was going to snap that it didn't matter, that only mattered the lives it was threatening, but remembered the same thing happening the night before. The other Android had disarmed and saved a girl's life by knowing everything it could about it. It had been impressive.

"No" he said after a moment. Cora turned its head toward him. "We have, however it's model" he gestured at one of his men to bring one of the tablets. Cora took the tablet, expression intent as it scanned.

Cora zoomed into its face, there was an angered expression on its face but at the moment the error didn't matter, the priority was to know who it was.

MODEL AP400 detected.

Registered as "Aaron"

Serial #894 118 254

Property of Danielle Monroe

Probability of success: 47%

Cora then took the moment to scan the teenager's face.

Lauren Monroe

DOB: 04-23-2022

Cora tilted its head, playing the feed from the security camera. It was easy to find the deviant and the girl. The Deviant held different shopping bags, trailing after the girl.

_Deduction./DEVIANT ESCORTED MAIN HOSTAGE TO SHOPPING.

Probability of success: 50%

Cora watched the interactions, the girl once in a while turning to face the Deviant, seemingly yelling at it, Cora could tell the emotional shock due to the LED.

[processing LED...]

Signs of software instability.

Cora detected every time the girl yelled, the deviants stress levels raised.

_Deduction./EMOTIONAL SHOCK DETECTED

Probably of success: 60%

Cora put aside the tablet, fixing its jacket. "I am ready to talk"

"Negotiators" Captain Allen scoffed, but turned away, gesturing at his right hand man to inform about the Android's involvement. Cora waited patiently until its audio sensors picked the order.

"Negotiator on sight. Hold your positions"

A slight pull of its lip in a half smile before starting to make its way toward the mall.

SAVE HOSTAGES AT ALL COSTS

It's main objective flashed urgently in its HUD. Every second counts.
