Previously on Dragon Ball Aftermath: Rewrite

After visiting Future Trunks in his new timeline, Goku has taken the Super Dragon Balls to his multiverse, ready to restore it and the alternate Vegeta's as well. However, the guardians interfered and he was forced to enter Stage Three and kill them. After restoring his home, he met back up with everybody and stopped a fight between Zateus and Omesus and the gods. Now Zateus will explain the entire story to them.

Chapter Thirty-Four

Zateus clears his throat. "It all began when we were born-"

Daishinkan walks forward. "I'm going to stop you there. I feel that... everybody needs to know the real truth about the gods."

Omesus scrunches his eyebrows. "What are you talking about, Grand Priest?"

The angel sighs, turning toward everybody. "I wasn't always the Grand Priest, all of you. I've been someone else even before Zateus was born."

Zateus pauses, before looking down at the ground. "Even now, you still hide the truth. Enough games, Daishinkan. Tell us everything, or Omesus and I will fuse again and take care of matters ourselves."

"You wouldn't!" Vegeta yells, raising his fist. "Zeno and his guards are here, even Kakarot!" He turns toward his old friend. "... Kakarot?"

Goku stands there, glaring at Daishinkan. Everybody would notice something's changed about the Saiyan. He wouldn't have the same kindness as he did before. "Zateus is right, Daishinkan. I won't stop them if they do fuse."

Everybody, even the angels, gasp. Beerus stomps forward and grabs him by the collar. "What the hell are you playing at, Goku? I thought you were on our side."

Goku grabs Beerus's hand and shoves him to the ground away from him. "We'll see which side I'm on after I hear everything. I have more than enough power to eliminate either side."

Even Zeno would look nervous. Daishinkan sighs, raising his hand. "Very well. I owe you a debt I cannot fully repay, but I will do my best."

He snaps and shows everybody a vision. Initially, the multiverse would be unstable, having only just formed. In the middle would be a tall figure. Goku would expect to see Zeno, but he would see somebody else.

Daishinkan opens his eyes, wearing an Omni King attire. All the gods of destruction and mortals gasp when they see this vision, but the angels remain unphased.

The Omni King opens his eyes, waving his hand and creating the nineteen universes. "It's time to create my own reality as the Omni King. I will have children to oversee the universes as their populations grow."

He hovers away, creating a palace in front of him. Daishinkan opens his hand, summoning what looks to be white divine energy, but something would be different. It would be amplified by his Omni King destruction power.

He throws his hand and it splits into nineteen beams. They spread and concentrate on different spots in front of him. Multiple figures form and they bow in front of their father.

Whis opens his eyes, as there would be no ring around his neck and his hair would be darker due to them not yet having access to Ultra Instinct. Daishinkan towers over them, looking at each of them. "I have created you all out of energy. Tell me your names."

They would do so and he turns around, sitting on his throne. "Should any mortal step out of line, they will be immediately erased. You will oversee all nineteen universes as their gods and maintain the mortal level."

They bow before Daishinkan places his hand on the ground, another pillar of energy appearing much bigger than the others. A figure with Grand Priest attire appears, looking similar to Daishinkan in the future.

"Your role will be as my attendant," Daishinkan replies. "Your name is Zateus. You are the leader of the angels."

Zateus bows before him. "Y-Yes, my lord. What is my... first order?"

"Send the angels to their respective universes," the Omni King replies. "They will closely monitor progress on the first lifeforms."

The Grand Priest turns around and taps his staff, sending the angels away. "You plan to create a population of lifeforms across the universes? I... I don't understand, my lord."

"They will evolve into something greater," Daishinkan replies. "I have plans for these beings as they could be useful to us gods in the future. Should they go against us, they will be extinguished without remorse."

Zateus pauses, then bows. "I... I understand. What must I do at this present time?"

"Not at this present time, but in the future," he says. "Forward time to two billion years from now to when the first lifeforms have developed and the galaxies have formed."

The Grand Priest spins his staff and slams it on the ground, a shock wave consuming the palace. As Daishinkan watches, the universes would rapidly change over time. The angels continue to watch them, with the passage of time being the blink of an eye to them. It would now be 11.7 billion years in the past from the present day.

The Omni King gets up. "You must seek training from Whis. You lack experience, but he will help you in the ways of an angel. You are dismissed."

The Grand Priest teleports away, deciding to visit a nearby universe. He admires the beauty of the galaxies, his eyes widening. "Stunning... This is what Lord Daishinkan has planned?"

He flies down to the universe, finding a planet that looks similar to what Beerus's world looks like today but with a rock-solid ground. He lands on it, looking around. "What is this place?"

In the corner of his eye, he sees Whis walking toward him. "Greetings, Lord Zateus. What brings you here?"

Zateus shifts uncomfortably. "Hello, Whis... My father wants you to train me in the ways of an angel. To be a reliable Grand Priest, I have to do this."

Whis's lips curl up in a smile. "I see. Me of all my siblings? I'm flattered. Very well, I'll teach you what I can. I did see you forwarded time, so you are already quite powerful."

He walks over to a huge rock. "To serve Daishinkan, you must have the power and knowledge to do so." He swings a punch and hits the rock, shattering it into pieces. "Even I still lack some experience. Tell me, how would you fight a potential intruder? Pretend I'm trying to attack Daishinkan."

Zateus immediately dashes forward, swinging his staff. Whis blocks it with one hand, before bringing back his fist and slamming a punch in his gut, knocking the wind out of him. This would be unlike the angel's present fighting style.

"You've left yourself wide open," the angel explains. "In terms of physicality, you lack in it. Perhaps Father intentionally made you weaker than us so you could learn from the best. Maybe to set an example for us angels. I'm not quite sure myself."

The Grand Priest runs forward again, rapidly jabbing his staff at the angel. Whis deflects all of his attacks, smiling. "That isn't going to w-"

Zateus yells, launching a massive anti-matter blast that scorches and causes part of the landscape to explode. Whis vanishes out of the way, seeing the damages. "Dear me... You're quite destructive. If you were one of us, you sure would give those lifeforms quite the scare. They wouldn't want to go against us."

He thinks about it for a moment, giving Zateus an opening. He opens his eyes, an aura shooting up around him. He raises his staff and slams it down, forcing the angel to block it.

Whis's arms shake before he smirks and powers up as well, chopping him on the shoulder and knocking him out with one attack. Zateus's eyes close, as he freefalls down.

The angel leaps down and catches him before he hits the ground, setting him down. "You have a long way to go, Lord Zateus. It will take eons for you to perfect your power, but once you do, you will be worthy to be Daishinkan's right hand."

As billions of years go by, Whis trains Zateus, allowing the angel to become more and more powerful. Meanwhile, basic lifeforms form, still being mere bacteria. As many planets cool down, atmospheres and oxygen would start to make them breathable.

One day, both angels visit one of the planets and are amazed. Of all planets, this one would later be known as Earth.

Zateus kneels, seeing water flowing down a river. He looks closer with his enhanced eyesight, seeing Cyanobacteria releasing Oxygen into the atmosphere. "What is this?"

"These are alive, according to my observations," Whis explains. "Real lifeforms will soon roam the land. They will be able to reproduce and continue to grow."

The Grand Priest cups water in his hands, feeling the wet sensation. "Why does Lord Daishinkan want to be so... strict about maintaining life? Shouldn't they be able to live without interference?"

"I cannot go against the Omni King's wishes," Whis says. "Even I do not know why he wishes to create these fragile beings that only live for a short time."

"I wonder what's like being a mortal..." Zateus drops the water, walking up to his mentor. "To live a limited life, knowing you could die at any moment... To have a family and live with them without the responsibilities of an angel..."

He blinks, clearing his throat. "Thank you for training me, Whis."

The angel smiles. "You best return to Father. He would disapprove of me keeping you here. I've taught you all I could."

Zateus bows, before tapping his staff and shooting off into the stars. "Should angels be the only beings to monitor the universes? Even that will be challenging for them alone when the mortal population grows."

A smile curls on his lips as he stops in the middle of space. "Before I return, I should give some lifeforms a helping hand and accelerate their evolution." He lands on a random planet in universe seven and taps his staff, with a glow enveloping the entire area.

He flies off, leaving the lifeforms to evolve over time. Little does he know, he would make a decision that changes everything. He enters his father's palace, bowing before him. "I have returned, my lord."

Daishinkan stands up, walking over to him. "Well done. Might I ask why you stopped on your way here?"

"I've decided to accelerate the evolution of a planet's lifeforms on the way here," Zateus explains. "I find the concept fascinating."

The Omni King squints at him. "You cannot disrupt the balance, Zateus. I gave you clear instructions."

"B-But sir, I still had training from Whis," the Grand Priest replies. "I only accelerated the evolution of the lifeforms."

"Very well," the Omni King gets up, walking over to him. "Your training is complete then, I presume?"

Zateus nods. "Yes, my lord. I've mastered the powers of the angels." He yells and a purple aura flares up around him, shaking the throne room.

"Ah, destruction energy," Daishinkan nods. "Good. That means you're ready to assume your rightful position as the Grand Priest. Well done."

The Grand Priest's eyes widen, having never gotten a compliment from the Omni King before. "Uh, thank you, sir."

The Omni King gets up, walking forward. "Now, we must get to work on creating these so-called lifeforms. Despite you accelerating the growth of a certain planet without my approval, I find interest in them as well."

"Imagine what it would be like to become a mortal," Zateus says, looking up at the ceiling. "A short life with no impact on the vastness of the multiverse, confined in a weak body."

Daishinkan turns around. "I see. Your comment has given me an idea. How about we take a break before you begin your eternal duties as my attendant."

The Grand Priest glances at him, raising an eyebrow. "Wh... What do you mean, my lord?"

The Omni King twirls his finger and Zateus lurches forward, feeling his angelic powers being stripped. His staff dissipates in his hand. "If you find the concept of lifeforms fascinating, then perhaps you should go down to their level for now."

The former god's eyes widen, as he looks at his hands. They would go from a light blue to a tan color. "Daishinkan!"

"You will be the first non-immortal to populate the multiverse," Daishinkan says, turning around and walking back to his throne. "You are the... first mortal. You will monitor them and report back to me. You'll still have the capabilities to contact me. Report on their progress. I'm curious to know how these mortals would behave without knowing there is a god in their presence."

"But... What am I now, my lord?" Zateus asks. "If I'm not an angel... What am I?"

Daishinkan smiles. "You're a Fallen Angel. You're you but without the majority of your powers."

The Grand Priest looks at his body again. "I understand. I'll monitor these lifeforms to the best of my ability."

"Good. After all, you have the honor of being the first mortal to ever exist." The Omni King taps his staff, time forwarding a bit millions of years later. Lifeforms would form, but there would be one such planet that already has a small civilization. He opens a portal, gesturing to it. "Watch over this civilization for me."

Zateus walks through the portal, ending up behind a massive rock. He walks around to see a small village inhabited by powerful humanlike beings. These, of course, would be the first Saiyans.

The Grand Priest lands on the planet, watching the Saiyans fight and hunt for food. "These must be the lifeforms I accelerated. They look like me, a fallen angel... Did Daishinkan do this to me so I could blend in?"

He walks toward the village and a couple of Saiyans notice him, yelling. They run toward him and go to attack, but he dodges all of their moves with ease. "I'm not here to cause trouble."

A large buff warrior runs forward, going to maul him, but he deflects the attack, grabs the hand, and slams him to the ground. Immediately, the other Saiyans back off.

"I told you I'm not here to fight," Zateus says, letting go of the Saiyan. "Who may your ruler be?"

He hears footsteps behind the group of Saiyans and they turn around before running away in terror. The god walks forward, looking... down at the tiny figure. "Oh?"

A Saiyan kid walks forward, glaring up at him. "Erm, are you... by chance the ruler?"

The kid kicks his shin, but he doesn't budge. "No talk me like that! Bow!"

The Saiyans watching cower in fear, but Zateus doesn't budge. "Is that so... What is your name, young one?"

"I is King Omesus!" The kid raises his fist, sparking with energy for a brief moment. "Most powerful Saiyan ever lived!"

"A Saiyan?" the Grand Priest kneels down. "So, your name is Omesus. Interesting."

"Respect I!" The child roars and runs forward, cracking the ground with each step. He swings a punch covered in energy. Zateus stops it with one finger, as a shock wave shoots out.

Omesus's eyes widen, and he takes a step back. "How? You be... not hurt?"

Zateus would realize he's already made it clear he isn't like the others, but he tries to brush it off. "I am a Saiyan like you who has trained for years to become the king of this planet."

The child crosses his arms. "You too weak for beat me. I will show you."

He yells, his irises turning yellow. He enters the Wrathful form, leaping forward and swinging a kick that Zateus blocks again, but decides to play along and launches himself into the rocks.

"Oof! You are... truly too powerful for me! I beg for mercy, my king!" Zateus gets on the ground, pretending to beg. Omesus powers down, scoffing. "You be servant to me for rest of life or die to fist."

The Grand Priest raises an eyebrow but doesn't argue. "Very well, King Omesus. Interesting the Saiyans have chosen a child to be their king, but you have proven your worthiness."

Omesus tilts his head. "You talk funny. You is stupid."

A bead of sweat goes down the side of the former angel's face. "Yeah... I'm the stupid one."

The kid huffs and walks away, the rest of the Saiyans watching him nervously. Zateus looks at the others for a moment, thinking. "They made a child their king all because of his extraordinary power. Surprisingly, their civilization hasn't collapsed yet."

He follows the kid into a hut bigger than the others. Omesus plops down on a wooden throne and crosses his arms. "Tell name."

"My name is Zateus, sir," Zateus replies, feeling humiliated by treating this child as his superior. "I have been training for a bil-... Ten years to become the greatest warrior on this planet."

"What is you know about my kind?" Omesus asks. "Never see you before."

"I've been living on my own for twenty years," Zateus explains. "I've finally come out to err... open my heart to people if that's what you call it."

The Saiyan spits on the ground in front of him. "Your ways disgust I. If want to be servant, you protect and help me rule everything."

The Fallen Angel thinks about it for a moment, before nodding. "Very well, Lord Omesus." Omesus gets up, waving him away. "Leave. I call you when need."

Zateus gets up, leaving the room. He walks outside into the fresh air, contemplating his choices. "Well, it can't be that bad, right? I'll get my powers back in time, and become the Grand Priest."

Out of nowhere, a huge strike of lightning hits nearby, knocking many Saiyans back. Zateus looks up, alarmed. "What in Daishinkan's name was that?"

A spiked, anthropomorphic figure rises from the ground. They would have a tail, and gems all over their body, and would be muscular. Their body would be completely white with blue eyes.

It opens its eyes, gazing at Zateus and the Saiyans. "I'm back, insects..." In an instant, they'd have raised a finger, launching a beam that careens right toward a Saiyan's heart, but Zateus shoots in the way, knocking it to the side.

The figure falters, before laughing. The former angel squints, not knowing who or what it is. "Who are you? Why are you attacking these innocent people?"

The Frost Demon walks forward, the planet trembling at its power. "My name... is Qube. I don't know what I am, but I call myself a Frost Demon, the soon-to-be ruler of the universe."

Omesus runs out, seeing the Frost Demon king. "What?! Servant, kill!"

Zateus walks forward, cracking his knuckles. "You're planning to rule over the universe? I'm afraid I will not allow that."

Qube chuckles. "Are you going to stop me? You're just a mere Saiyan. You fools have survived only because of my mercy. Don't make me regret it. Now kneel."

Instead, the former angel takes one step, before shooting forward at insane speeds, elbowing Qube in the cheek and sending him flying. All the Saiyans, especially Omesus, watch in complete shock at his power.

The Frost Demon grunts, landing on the ground, before getting up and laughing. "You're not a Saiyan... That fighting style is too sophisticated. What are you?"

Zateus creates a fake staff out of energy and points it toward him. "It doesn't matter what I am, but you will not be harming innocent lifeforms."
