Mother Potions
"One cup, plus two shakes, three quarts, 3 drops, now 2…" Hermione muttered to herself.
She had no idea that a pair of deep black eyes had been focused on her for the last fifteen minutes.
"What in the name of Merlin are you doing?" he asked, unable to recognise the potion for the ingredients spread out.
"Shush, I have to get this part right," Hermione said, not taking her eyes off her cauldron.
After a few moments she put out the fire underneath the cauldron, held up a hand to stop Severus Snape from asking her his question.
She grabbed a pair of tongs and gently lifted a coloured blob from the cauldron, gently placing it in a jar.
She sighed before beginning the 'potion' again.
This time making a change.
"One cup, plus two shakes, three quarts, 4 drops, now 3…" Hermione muttered to herself.
Severus' ears immediately pricked up at the difference. What could the girl possibly be making?
Severus however had to sit through the process another four times, making a slight change each time, before he was allowed to ask what she had been making.
"Why play dough of course. Have you never seen or?" she teased.
Severus bristled slightly at her laughter but ignored his pride, instead asking, "What is this, play dough?"
"It is basically coloured dough that children in the Muggle world play with. They make shapes and animals. Now Seraphina has six different colours to play with. Will you take them to her?"
"Only if you promise not to play the nose game with her again," Severus negotiated; it seemed as if his life depended on the outcome.
"All right," Hermione laughed. "She has passed that stage anyway. You're so cute when you're desperate," Hermione said coyly, sliding her arms up around his neck.
"Well you would be to if your daughter wanted your nose," Severus replied, his voice husky as he lowered his head to hers.
"I would," Hermione murmured against his neck before kissing him.
Severus gently broke the kiss and asked hoarsely, "Is that all you want?"
"Oh no, most definitely not," Hermione replied, her hands slipping down his body. "I want all of you, but only after you have given Seraphina her play dough."
Laughing Hermione lat go of him and began to clean up her cauldron and ingredients.
Severus however scowled and picked up the dough, wrapping his robes around him as he swept form the room, intent on returning very soon.
