Chapter 1: A New Adventure!

The small breezes blow through the thirteen-year old brunette's hair. Her sapphire blue eyes sparkle with excitement as they stare out at sea. This ferry she's on is going to take her to Canalave City in the Sinnoh region. She'll be starting a new journey there. She can't wait to meet the new Pokémon, new people, and compete in the Super Contests. But most importantly, she can't wait to journey with Drew. Her green-haired and green-eyed boyfriend.

A stronger gust of wind blew past her, and her purple bandana with a white pokéball untied itself and flew away. "Oh no!" She quickly turned to try and catch it, but she saw Drew walking to her and he casually grabbed it.

Drew got to her and gave her the bandana.

"Thanks, Drew." She said, putting the bandana on.

"No problem, May." Drew replied. He placed his arms on the railing, and smirked. "You should be more careful. If I wasn't there to catch your bandana…"

"I don't even want to think about traveling without it." She faced the ocean.

"Anyways, thanks for letting Butterfree stay in your family's greenhouse. He really didn't seem to want to leave Beautifly's side for some reason."

May giggled. "That's cute."

"Why did you want to leave Beautifly behind?"

"Because my Mom doesn't want to let her go. She reminds her of a happy time."

"That's nice. I hope Butterfree doesn't give your parents trouble."

"He won't. He was raised well."

Drew smiled. "May? Complimenting me? I never thought I'd see the day when that would happen."

"Well, I never thought I'd see the day when we would kiss, so…"

Drew chuckled. "I think I'll go back to our room, and maybe look up what kind of new Pokémon we might see in Canalave City."

"Okay. I'll stay out here and enjoy the weather."

Drew kissed her on the cheek before walking away. She blushed.

The ferry docked in Canalave City. The staircase came down, and trainers started leaving the ferry. May ran ahead of Drew. "Come on, come on!" She said excitedly. "We're finally here!"

Drew smiled, running to catch up to May. "I'm coming."

They both walk down the stairs, stepping foot in the Sinnoh region. May's big eyes get wider in awe of all the new Pokémon that are flying or swimming in the ocean. "Wow…"

Drew watched her run to the end of the dock, admiring the scenery, Pokémon, and…everything. He exhaled. "So much energy…"

May took out her Hoenn Pokédex, and scanned a water-type Pokémon. "No data."

"No data?" May questioned to herself.

"Hey, April!" Drew called. "We should go find the Pokémon Center to rent rooms before starting our new journey!"

"Okay! I'm coming!" May put her pokédex away before turning around, and running back to Drew. They start walking into the city in search of the Pokémon Center.

"Did you like all of those new Pokémon?"

"Absolutely. But there's one problem…"

"Which is?"

"My pokédex said 'No data' when I scanned one."

"Oh. That's because the Hoenn region pokédex only has the Pokémon entries of Hoenn, Johto, and Kanto. It doesn't have Sinnoh Pokémon in it."

"Ohh…well then, how could I get a Sinnoh pokédex?"

"The same way you got the Hoenn one. Talk to the Pokémon professor of the region."

"Where is his lab at?"

They enter the Pokémon Center, and walk to the front desk. "Welcome to the Pokémon Center. How may I help you?" Nurse Joy asked.

"I'd like to rent one room with two beds." Drew said.

"Absolutely. Let me get you a key."

May found a rack of guidebooks next to the desk. She skimmed through it, finding where it says 'Meet Professor Rowan'.

Nurse Joy handed Drew two keys. "There you are. Room 512. We hope you enjoy your stay here."

"Thank you." Drew said. He looked at May. "Let's go find our room."

May doesn't respond. She's focusing on reading the guidebook.

He sighed. He took May's arm and began dragging her. She just lets him.

After a few more seconds…

"Ah ha!" May said loudly, coming to a stop.

Drew turned around. "What was that for?"

"The guidebook says that Professor Rowan's laboratory is located in Sandgem Town! We need to go there first."

"Tomorrow. But for now…let's just enjoy our first night in Sinnoh together."

May smiled shyly with pink cheeks. She soon brushed it off. "But we'll head for Sandgem Town first thing in the morning, right?"

Drew exhaled, smiling. "Of course."

"Yay!"

The sun is going down, the stars are coming out. And May and Drew are about to go to sleep.

May yawned, laying in her bed. "I'm really excited to start competing in Super Contests, Drew. We're going to have a blast here in Sinnoh."

"We sure will." Drew agreed, closing his eyes. He's already in his bed across the room.

"Mm…well, I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight, Drew." Her eyes closed.

Drew opened his eyes and turned his head. He smiles at the sight of May sleeping peacefully. He quietly got out of bed and walked over to hers. He leaned down and kissed her cheek. "Goodnight, Princess." He whispered. "I love you." He walked back to his bed and laid down.

May found herself smiling while falling asleep. They both drift off to sleep.

May and Drew walk down a stairway that leads to the lobby of the Pokémon Center. They have all of their belongings, and are ready to hit the road.

Drew gave both of their room keys to Nurse Joy before they left the Center.

"So. Sandgem Town?" Drew asked.

May nodded. They begin walking through the city after Drew pulled out his Pokénav to look at the Town Map.

"Okay. This should be the way."

"Great. I'm going to get a new pokédex!" May said excitedly.

At that moment, a loud scream was heard. May and Drew freeze and turn their heads. Down the road…an explosion happened, followed by the frightened screams of the people.

"Whoa. What was that?" May asked in shock.

"Let's find out." Drew said.

They both run in the direction of all the commotion. When they get to the center of town, they stop. Civilians quickly hide in their homes while two small Pokémon (one being the cause of the small explosion) are running around wild.

One of the Pokémon is light blue. He has a dark blue head with a primarily white face and a short, yellow beak. It jumps up, landing its yellow feet on the edge of the water fountain before using its flipper-like arms to taunt the other Pokémon.

The other Pokémon that got angry from the taunt launched an Ember attack that the blue Pokémon dodged. Its fur is primarily a shade of orange, though its face, outer ears, underbelly, hands, and feet are light yellow. Its rear has a small, round, red patch that is usually obscured by flames. Its ears are large in comparison to its head size and red inside. It has two pointed teeth in its upper jaw. It has red markings nearly surrounding its eyes, a swirl-like symbol on its chest, and five fingers on its hands with three toes on its feet. It has a swirly crest of hair on its head.

Both Pokémon run around the center of town, jumping on buildings and launching attacks at each other. The blue Pokémon launched a Bubblebeam while the orange Pokémon launched an Ember. However, water beats fire, so the Bubblebeam pushed through, and hit the orange Pokémon, sending it flying.

…Right into Drew.

"Whoa." Drew grabs the Pokémon before it could fall. "Are you okay?"

"Chim, Chimchar." It said before jumping away from Drew, and launching more attacks at the blue Pokémon.

"Oh no…we've got to do something, Drew." May said. "They could seriously get hurt."

"Right." Drew grabbed one of his pokéballs and tossed it in the air. "Roserade, go!"

The Bouquet Pokémon materialized in front of Drew. "Roserade." It said.

"May, can you call out Chikorita?"

"Um, okay." May took her pokéball and tossed it. "Chikorita, take the stage!"

As Chikorita emerged from the pokéball, a trail of Sweet Scent followed. "Chika~!" She said, landing on the ground, surrounded by the sparkling pink powder.

"What's your plan?" May asked Drew.

"We need to spread that Sweet Scent."

"Ohh…" May said in realization. "I got it." She faced forward. "Chikorita, use Sweet Scent!"

Chikorita waves the leaf on its head, and a pink powder comes out of it.

"Roserade, use Petal Dance!" Drew ordered.

"What are they doing?" A man in a lab coat asked, watching from a distance.

Roserade leaped to the spot in front of Chikorita, letting the Sweet Scent surround her. She spins quickly, and releases pink petals from all around its body. The petals fly towards where the two small Pokémon are fighting, carrying the Sweet Scent with them.

The Sweet Scent reaches the noses of the Pokémon, and they freeze. They smile, close their eyes, and sniff the air around them. They both jump off the buildings they were on, and follow the smell.

May and Drew smiled. "Aww…they're so cute." She said.

Chikorita stopped using Sweet Scent when both Pokémon stood beside her. The Pokémon open their eyes, and stare up at May and Drew.

May kneeled down. "Hi there. I'm May, and this is Drew. That was some heavy battling you did there. You both are really strong."

"Piplup!" The blue Pokémon said confidently, standing tall with pride.

"Chimchar!" The other one said happily.

Drew kneeled down while taking off his backpack. He took out two cans of Pokémon food, and two bowls. He placed them on the ground before pouring the food into them. "Eat up, you two. You must be starving after that battle."

"Piplup!" The blue Pokémon's smile grew wide, and it's eyes sparkled with excitement. It dug right into its food as if it hadn't eaten in three days.

The orange Pokémon started eating out of the other bowl with a big grin on its face.

May smiled. "Aw…so cute!"

"You did it!"

May and Drew turn their heads, questioning who spoke. A man in a lab coat approaches them.

"Who are you?" May asked.

"My name is Yuzo, and those two Pokémon belong to my boss. He'll be so glad that they calmed down. We owe you one. Thank you for stopping their fight. They tend to do that a lot."

"Happy to help." Drew said, standing up. "Roserade, return." He returned Roserade to her pokéball.

May stood up and returned Chikorita to her pokéball.

"Well, I better get these two back to my boss." Yuzo said. He took out two pokéballs. "Okay, Piplup, Chimchar, back in your pokéballs."

Piplup and Chimchar smiled, and jumped. Their heads touched the pokéballs, and they went inside.

"Wow. So obedient." May said.

Yuzo scoffed. "Except when they cause mischief just because one stole food from the other…" He looked at both May and Drew. "Hey. Why don't you two come with me?"

"Um, okay then."

Yuzo led May and Drew into the Pokémon Center. They meet someone in the lobby that's wearing a professional outfit of a button-up shirt, business tie, and trousers. His hair and mustache is white, and he looks a bit intimidating…

"Professor, I have Piplup and Chimchar." Yuzo said, handing the white-haired old man the two pokéballs.

"Good job." The man said in a deep voice.

"We have these two to thank for stopping their battle and calming them down."

The man looked at May and Drew. May gulped. ("He looks so scary…")

"Then thank you both. I'm Professor Rowan. I'm sorry if my Pokémon caused you any trouble."

("He said that all without smiling…") May blinked. "Wait. You're Professor Rowan?"

"Indeed I am."

May froze in shock. She was not expecting the Professor to look like…that. No offense.

Drew could see that May is in shock, so he decides to do introductions. "Well, I'm Drew, and this is May. We're coordinators from Hoenn."

"Ah, yes. I remember you." Rowan said to May. "Didn't you compete in the Wallace Cup against Dawn?"

May smiled. "Yeah. But I couldn't beat her. She was really tough."

"So were you. I'm sure she'll be happy to know that you're here in Sinnoh. As of right now, she's actually traveling through Hoenn, aiming for her goal of Top Coodinator, of course."

"Dawn's in Hoenn?" May frowned. "I was hoping we would see her during our journey through Sinnoh…"

"Don't worry, May. You'll get to see her in person again one day."

"I guess…"

A sudden thought popped into Rowan's head. "Hey. Have you two received a Sinnoh Region pokédex?"

"No." Drew answered. "Actually, we were just going to head to your lab in Sandgem Town to ask for one."

"Well, you wouldn't have any luck going there at this moment. So to thank you both for finding my missing Pokémon…" He took out a pink pokédex and a red pokédex. "I want you to have these." He held them out.

May gasped excitedly and accepted the pink pokédex. Rowan looked at Drew.

Drew shook his head. "Um, no thank you. I don't need one. May is the one that uses that."

"Everyone can use one."

"But I just-"

"You never know. One day, this might come in handy."

After a few moments, Drew smiled. He accepted the red pokédex. "Well then…thank you, Professor."

"No need to thank me. I wish you both luck on your Sinnoh Pokémon journey. Maybe we'll cross paths again one day."

May nodded. "We'll get going then. Bye, Professor Rowan. And thank you."

May and Drew left the Center with their eyes set on heading for the first Pokémon Contest in Sinnoh. Which is located in Jubilife City. Who knows what this new adventure will bring? Anything can happen.
