Who am I? You sure you want to know?
The story of my life is not for the faint of heart. If somebody said it was a happy little tale... if somebody told you I was just your average ordinary guy, not a care in the world... Somebody lied...
Driving through the streets of Queens, New York was a yellow bus with a dozen or so Midtown High School students on board.
But let me assure you, this, like story is any worth telling, is all about a girl.
Among the Midtown High students was the one and only lovely smiling redhead, Mary Jane Watson. She was wearing a purple v-neck t-shirt, a green woollen cardigan, which included a hoodie and knitted belt, as well as sporting a pair of dark blue jeans.
That girl. The girl next door. Mary Jane Watson. The woman I've loved since before I even liked girls.
She was laughing along with her fellow peers, including her spiky haired jock of a boyfriend, Flash Thompson, who was enjoying his every moment of cuddling her.
Of course, if somebody also told you she would also be just your typical damsel in distress who always cries out for her hero to save her... Well, let's just say that isn't what they expected to happen in the end...
"Hey! Stop the Bus!"
A sudden loud bang came from the side of the bus window.
The students started to laugh when they looked outside and noticed a teenage boy breathlessly running along the side of the bus. He was seen wearing his blue-and-red-striped long sleeve shirt, grey jacket and casual blue jeans, along with his infamous nerdy glasses over his bright blue eyes.
That's me... Peter Parker
The students, as well as the bus driver, continued laughing at the boy's terrible misfortunes as he was humiliatingly begging for the bus to stop.
"Tell him to stop please!" Peter begged loudly again. "Hey! Stop the bus!"
"Stop the bus," MJ walked up to the bus driver, having seen enough of Peter's poor humiliation. "He's been chasing us since Woodhaven in Boulevard."
The driver's smirk instantly turned to a frown as he reluctantly slowed down his bus to a halt. The students let out a sound of groaning displeasure.
Peter slowed down his sprinting as the bus finally came to a stop. Upon seeing the double doors opening, he walked inside. "So sorry I'm late -" He apologized, before a crumbled piece of paper was thrown at his face. He quickly turned to see his peers still laughing and making fun of him for his nerdy brain and outlook.
"What a geek."
Just another typical life of Peter Parker. He tried to ignore them as he walked through the bus for an empty seat.
One female student with glasses quickly placed her hand on an empty seat on her left when she noticed Peter about to sit next to her. "Don't even think about it."
Peter reluctantly nodded and moved on as he continuously heard more of the usual insults and teases thrown at him, even though he's already used to them.
"You're still lame, Parker."
Peter had his eyes to Mary Jane, feeling gratified by her beauty. Much to his obliviousness, Flash quirked a quick eyebrow at his friend across him with a snarky smile.
Peter turned to one student that had an empty seat next to him, only to be rejected again with a shook of his head as he was shoving his donut into his mouth. While still moving on, Peter kept his eyes on Mary Jane, who looked noticeably low-spirited, despite still sitting by her boyfriend's side.
Then, Peter suddenly yelped when he felt someone sticking his leg out, making him tripped and fell flat on the rough floor of the school as his glasses flew off his face. He gave a small pout and rolled his eyes in annoyance when the rest of students began to laugh again at his misfortunes.
Mary Jane turned to Flash and gave him an angry, disapproving expression. He just innocently shrugged with a 'I didn't do it' look.
Later that day, a Midtown High science teacher had his group of students gathered around on the Columbia University campus grounds.
"Midtown High Seniors. No wandering, see directly -" The teacher then snatched one of his student's playball from his hand. "Knock it off, Bobby," He said annoyedly, before continuing. "Remember, it is a privilege to be here. We are guests of Columbia University science department, so behave accordingly... "
As the rest of the class were not paying any attention to their science teacher, Mary Jane looked over her shoulders to see Peter catching up with the group.
Much to Peter's raised eyebrows, he was almost appalled when MJ looked back at him with a small grin on her face. Thinking she was smiling at her, he slowly smiled back.
MJ then gave a small wave, Peter's smile widened with a wave of his own in return. Much to his dismay, she was actually waving at a few of her friends, Liz and Sally, both of which just brushed passed him.
Peter sighed in disappointment, before following the rest of his peers into the campus science building. As he was walking up the steps, Peter heard someone called out his name from behind.
"Pete!"
Peter turned around to see a tall boy around his age exiting from a black limo that was parked near the bottom of the steps. He was seen sporting a short curly hairstyle, with a dark green coat over his red sweater.
"Hiya, Harry," Peter smiled, seeing his best friend walked up to his side.
Harry gave him a pat on the back. "Hey, what's up, man-"
"Harry!"
The two best friends looked back to see a businessman with a fine good suit walking up to them from the same limo, with Harry's backpack in his hand. "Won't you be needing this?"
"Thanks, Dad," Harry said, grabbing his backpack. He then turned to Peter with a welcoming gesture to the businessman. "Peter, may I introduce you to my father, Norman Osborn."
"I heard so much about you," Norman offered a handshake to Peter with a smile.
"Great honor to meet you, sir," Peter returned the gesture in respect.
"Harry told me you quite the science whiz," Norman said with a proud look. "You know, I'm something of a scientist myself."
"I read all your work on nanotechnology, really brilliant," Peter complimented.
Norman's mouth dropped slightly at Peter's words. "And you understood?"
"Yes, I wrote a paper on it," Peter reaffirmed with an acknowledging nod.
Norman couldn't help but let out a prideful smile upon hearing someone praising his work. "Impressive, your parents must be very proud."
"I live with my aunt and uncle, and they are proud," Peter kindly corrected.
"Hey, you two," Their science teacher shouted, grabbing the boys' attention. "Let's move!"
With that, Peter gave Norman a farewell handshake. "Please to meet you."
Norman shook it vigorously in return. "And I hope to see you again."
Peter nodded. "Yeah."
After Norman proceeded back to his limo away, the two friends turned and walk their way into the science building.
Peter leaned close to Harry with a teasing grin. "He doesn't seem so bad."
"Not if you're a genius," Harry defended. "I think he wants to adopt you."
Before Peter could say anymore, two hands were reached out from behind him and covered his glasses.
"Guess who?" A feminine voice was heard with a teasing tone.
Peter grinned, knowing who was behind him. "Hey, Gwen."
Gwen giggled as she twisted Peter around. When he felt her hands unclasped from his glasses, he saw her wearing her usual black headband on her beautiful blonde hair and a greenish-blue leather jacket, light-cyan v-neck t-shirt and black skirt, with high-heel boots.
"Hey, Harry," Gwen turned to him.
Harry smiled as well. "Hi, Gwen."
"So, how are my boys doing this morning?" Gwen smiled back, giving her two best friends a full heartwarming hug. She noticed Peter rubbing his eyes bit before putting back on his glasses. "Is someone a bit sleepy?"
Peter nodded. "I was up all night working on something."
As they were walking up the stairs, Gwen nudged Peter. "Well, spill it out, Pete. Was it those special lenses you mentioned in History last week?"
"Mhmm. Completely smudge and scratch proof, but I can't fix the size issue," Peter said.
Harry shook his head with a chuckle. "Every guy wants to fix the size issue."
Gwen gave Harry a playful elbow to the ribs.
"Anyway, they're too big for normal eyeglasses, more like goggles, but I can't wear goggles around everywhere," Peter said.
Gwen tilted her head. "What's the issue with cutting them to size?"
"They're extremely delicate. Every time I try to make them smaller, they crack into spider webs," Peter explained.
"Y'know," Harry chimed in. "I think there's gonna be spiders in the exhibit."
Peter smiled widely. "Can't wait."
My First A/N: Welcome, Spidey-Fans and Fellow Readers, to my Spider-Man the Original Trilogy: Making Your Vows story and my First Fanfic ever posted to this site.
This was something that has been stuck on the back of my mind since I made this account, and with this year being the 20th anniversary of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man Original Trilogy, what's better time than now post this story to celebrate the occasion?
While there'll be mostly familiar story beats from the Original Trilogy(with Peter and MJ being the center of it, obviously), I'll also do some other small changes to the universe for my take somewhere down the line, mainly just a few character dynamics with additions of familiar comic characters and relationships, as some may have realized with my inclusion of Gwen Stacy as longtime best friend to Peter and Harry, as opposed to appearing as a side character in Spider-Man 3. (Honestly never liked her being reduced to nothing more than a love triangle plot device).
With that being said, any constructive criticisms and comments (not too mean ones, please) would be greatly appreciated. I hope y'all can stick around and enjoy my different take on the familiar story.
