Sonya's POV
"I was wondering if you were ever going to ask me or if you were going to chicken out." The blonde bombshell gave me one of those signature cocky smirks as she teased me. You know, after years of knowing this woman, I can't ever seem to figure her out. Maybe I truly am oblivious to things but obvious in other regards. The confidence always oozes out of her and that is something I am so envious of whenever it comes to Amanda. She knows her beauty and struts it perfectly. "Lead the way." Now I am not an idiot, the Goddess instructed me and I will follow directions. I am not going to keep her waiting and miss any chances that I have with her.
Making our way down to the dance floor, I really took the time to look at the blonde. The way the lights are shining on her, that glow of her skin. She really is gorgeous. I bet all the horny fans are jealous that I get to hang out with her all the time. Wait until I make her my girlfriend, that will surely break the internet. I don't want to say 'if' gotta keep this confidence going. "Amanda, you look beautiful tonight. I am sure you heard it enough but it's true."
"You really know how to dress up too, Dar." The blonde complimented sweetly, gesturing to my suit jacket which almost got a blush out of me. "But yes, you're right, I have heard it plenty tonight. Although hearing it from you hits different, I must admit that." It doesn't surprise me that she had gotten many compliments tonight, a majority being from the girls and the occasional thirsty male.
"Our dreams were finally made reality tonight. I am so proud of us." That moment has been replaying in my head ever since I managed to get back in the gorilla position. The meeting changed everything and made this all possible. Who knows if we would have ever experienced this feeling if they went with the original plan? It was never suppose to be us but here we are, showered with lots of praise from everyone.
"I am proud of us too; I am so glad that I got to experience it with you." Sharing this moment with my best friend made it all the better. It makes my heart happy knowing that Mandy feels the exact same way. That smile confirms all my thoughts as true. Alright, Daria, this is the perfect opportunity. Strike while the iron is hot.
"Amanda, there is something I want to talk to you about.." The invisible lump formed in my throat as I spoke the sentence in a more serious tone from my usual. Baby blue orbs fixated on my face as I opened my mouth to speak. Breathe. You have her sole attention. This is what you have been waiting for. "I uhhh.. Well..I-" Excellent work Sonya, Mandy clearly understood what you meant there. My cheeks were starting to heat up, my hand nervously rubbed the back of my neck.
"Daria?" The Golden Goddess noticed my hesitation and waited for me to answer. Her hand laced together with mine as I knew this was her attempt to soothe me. I was stumbling on my words like a complete buffoon. I am giving everything away with this performance. Come on Daria, woman up and tell Mandy that you love her. Say that you are in love with her! My lips parted to speak but the pressure was too much to withstand.
"Forget it, it seems to have slipped my mind." God damn it, how could you be so stupid and chicken out at the last second? The words were on the tip of my tongue but I fumbled the bag once again. The blonde gave me a confused look but never pushed the subject further. The next several minutes were spent in silence between the two of us, only listening to songs that played. Our hands would stay laced together, another hand on her hips as I could only continue to get mesmerized by those beautiful blue eyes. It didn't matter the type of music or the type of dance, I followed her lead. Every graceful step was a work of art, the warmth of her body against mine. It felt like heaven. One song led to a couple but I noticed that she was starting to get winded. "I think we could use a break for a few minutes, I will go get us more drinks." I suggested as the song ended, the blonde nodded her head and started to head away from me.
My eyes followed the blonde Goddess as she walked over to one of the tables that Cassie and Jessica were sitting at. I wouldn't be lying if I said that I wasn't sore after all that dancing along with everything else that happened today. A loud sigh left me as I watched Mandy sit at the table. I should be resting. That's not going to happen until I secure the woman I love. She wants to dance, I will dance with her happily until she's satisfied. Amanda wants to stay until morning, I can be a night owl. Tonight is a night of celebration and hopefully one that ends with a new couple roaming around. No Daria, you have to quit saying hopefully; this is going to happen. I have to stop fucking up, I missed my chance earlier. I had missed so many chances. It would be in my best interest to stop drinking for the night and start sobering up, but I know that Amanda will probably have a few more drinks. My next destination was the bar for a glass of tequila for Mandy, that's whenever a familiar blonde came into my line of sight. I hadn't seen her at all since arriving here, I am glad that she was able to make it. "Leah! There you are."
Carmella's attention snapped in my direction as she started making her way over toward me. She had a super wide smile which was reassuring considering what happened hours before. Leah looked so happy. Her arms wrapped around me tightly "Daria! Hey chica, sorry I am late. I hope I didn't miss any of the fun."
"Plenty of fun to still be had. That's not important. Are you and Graves okay?" If that fucker decided to break up with Mella after all of this, I was going to break multiple bones in his body. She's one of the closest people in my life and I will be damned if anyone hurts her.
"Yeah, he's such a great guy. All he wanted to do was to protect me and I attempted to push him away. It wasn't fair to him and I was just acting out on emotions." She gushed over Graves which got me to playfully scoff at her. I am glad that she's happy with him; I had mixed feelings about him due to everything he says on commentary about Mandy. There had been times that I wanted to confront him on the matter but I never wanted to hint at my real feelings about the Golden Goddess.
"All that matters to me is that you are happy. Plus I am going to let him know that if he hurts you, I am going to break him in half." I spoke my inner thoughts out loud to the former Champion.
"I'll let you tell him that yourself after we get a real first date. But that's not why I am here, have you told her yet?" My eyes looked back over toward the table where the love of my life was sitting, she seemed to be having a good conversation with the IIconics. That's when I noticed her get up from the table, and started to make her way over toward the back entrance where the outside section is located. After all that dancing, I could guess that she is a little toasty; it doesn't help that this place is crowded as hell.
Not really giving an answer straight away, I shook my head as my eyes lingered on Amanda a bit longer. I really do enjoy watching her walk away. I turned back to face Leah. "N-No, not yet. I am planning on it for sure. I wanted to say it earlier but.. I.. I couldn't muster up the courage to go through with it." Everything has been going according to my plan, but I need to make my move but every time I want to, I succumb to cold feet. "I don't know what's holding me back."
Obviously that was a bold faced lie, I know exactly what's holding me back. I'm so afraid of losing her if she doesn't return my feelings. My mind is playing out all the horrible scenarios that could happen. I don't want to lose Amanda forever, even if the blonde doesn't have any romantic feelings toward me; I want to stay friends forever. Carmella smiled, pulling me into an embrace again. "Dar, it's because you are scared. I get it, I really do. But if you don't pour your heart out to her, it might end up being too late. I know how much you love her, don't be shackled down by this doubt. Don't keep hurting yourself like this, you gotta confess." I took the time to digest the words of encouragement in her arms. Carmella is absolutely right, everyone that has given me advice is right. I need to stop being so scared, I have been waiting so long to do this.
"You're right. I know. I love you so much."
"I know but I am not the blonde you should be saying that too right now. Love you too." The embrace with Carmella ended as I noticed that the blonde had turned her attention elsewhere. "Oh, Son." Her hand grabbed my jacket.
"Hm?" Leah pointed over toward the outside area where Mandy had previously gone. Mella's eyes showed concern as I tried to figure out what was going on. The blonde looked to be storming back into the building as some man was following behind her. He had to be about six feet tall at least, scrawny build with some messy short, brown hair. The jackass was staring her down like she was some sort of object. The man kept trying to touch her and the blonde would quickly smack his hand away. That's the last straw. "Who the hell does that person think he is?"
"Daria-"
"I will be back Leah, I am taking care of this right now." I didn't wait for Mella to try and convince me otherwise; this asshole clearly isn't getting the hint that she isn't interested. I know their type, he might try to force him onto my Goddess. I won't let that happen, Amanda is more than capable of handling this herself but if I am around, I will dirty my hands with whatever is necessary to keep her safe. Navigating through the crowd of random strangers, I made my way over toward the pair. It was clear that this jackass was intoxicated beyond all belief, I could probably smell him from here. "Hey dickwad, back off the lady. She isn't interested."
That caused both sets of eyes to fall onto me, one was definitely happier to see me compared to the other. "Daria.."
A slight smile was able to form on her face as my attention stayed solely on her. This jackass doesn't matter now. Reaching my hand out, I was planning on taking her away from here and continuing my plan to confess my feelings. No one is ruining this for me. Instead the drunk man stepped in between the pair of us. Great now I can smell his cheap cologne he drowned himself in.. His finger pressed against my injured shoulder as I narrowed my eyes at him. "Oh yeah dyke, what are you going to do about it?"
If you liked the chapter and how the story is going so far.. Please review, fav and/or follow. It means a lot and shows that people like what I write..
