Xavier : I know more about you than you do.
Wolverine: How does he do that?
Xavier : It's quite simple, really. My brain is so large that it stretches my skin to its absolute limit, therefore obliterating any hair follicles that might have existed.
Wolverine: You realize that that doesn't explain anything.
Chimeras weren't supposed to feel fear. Stone outside, stone inside.
But Zelgadis was afraid.
He saw them everywhere now, always trying to control him, control his love life, control everything to suit their own desires and whims.
Whispering, always whispering.
He burrowed into the covers, staring out at the four walls of the room. Even here, in the Inn, they tormented him, hovering at the very of his senses. That line where sanity became madness. He could hear them. Giggling, talking, yelling at each other.
The door slammed open and Zelgadis flung a spell, only to watch as Lina brushed it aside.
With a whimper, Zelgadis burrowed further into the covers. Watching as reality itself changed and warped around him a hundred, a thousand times all in the blink of an eye. Lina changed to Syphiel, Ameila, Xelloss, Gourry, Martina, even women he had never met. They grew wings, became golems, changed outfits, hair, even genders. At one point. Zelgadis found himself naked, strapped to a table as Gourry and Xelloss, both clad only in leather skirts, prepared for some awful deed.
Even the room didn't stay the same. The wooden walls became brick, plaster, steel, flame and straw. From where the bed was, he could see out the window. Buildings both recognizable and not appeared and disappeared, people changing clothes and even species.
And always, they were there, never showing themselves, but there, always there, never leaving him in peace. Each and every one telling him he belonged to them.
And then, just as suddenly, it all returned to normal as Lina shut the door and walked over to the bed. "Jeez, Zel, what's the matter with you?" she asked, placing her hands on her hips as she looked down at him. "You've been acting so jumpy lately. Its like we've been traveling with a rabbit." Zelgadis whispered something. "What?" Lina asked, bending over the bed. "Say again?"
"I see fangirls," Zelgadis said, his voice filled with terror. "All the time."
