Usopp opened Sanji's room door and walked to the crib. He placed Daichi down and stepped back with a smile. Kairi was placed beside him a moment later, completing the set. Usopp kept a shaky smile on his face as he reached into the crib to fix the blanket around the twins. He didn't need to but avoiding the eyes burning the side of his head was his best option.
'Usopp…" Sanji started. He paused for a moment before calmly continuing. "What's going on up on the deck?"
Usopp closed his eyes tightly before opening them again. "Nothings going on." Standing up with his hands on his hips, Usopp turned towards Sanji. "Well that's that." He moved to walk away but was blocked by Sanji.
"Usopp." The chef watched as Usopp avoided meeting his eyes. "Tell me what's going on."
Gulping, Usopp opened his mouth to reply but was cut off by Sanji. "How's Zoro?"
"Zoro?" Usopp asked. He cocked his head. "What about Zoro? Everything's fine. He's fine." There was a slight crack in his voice when he said this.
Sanji let out an annoyed sigh. "That doesn't sound reassuring at all." Turning around, he shrugged his shoulders. "Whatever." As he started for the door he said, " Could you watch the twins for a sec? I'll just go check for myself."
Feeling a hand on his shoulder, Sanji looked back at Usopp and noticed the concerned look on his face. "What?"
"Sanji…" Usopp looked to the side for a moment before looking back into Sanji's eyes. "Don't you think you should stay down here with the twins instead." When Sanji's eyebrow twitched, Usopp let out an awkward chuckle and added, " just until Zoro gets back? You know he'd hate me watching them alone."
Sanji reached up to brush off Usopp's hand, making his hand fall back to his side. " They're sleeping, Usopp. It's just for a few minutes." He looked towards the small window on the other side of the room and watched as the waves grew stronger. "Just for a few minutes." he said again, letting his words trail off at the end.
Biting his inner cheek, Usopp took a deep breath. "Maybe it's best if you stay down here and I go up."
Blue eyes turned quickly to meet brown ones.
"Why?"
"Just…" An image of Zoro's tattered body came to mind. " Just trust me."
Sanji stared at Usopp intensely, searching for a sign. There was something going on up on deck and Zoro was up there. He had been in the process of fending off the ship last he spoke to him but for him not to be here, with the twins, as soon as the crew returned? That had to mean something was wrong, right? Not to mention the fact that Franky was preparing a Coup de Burst.
"No."
Usopp gulped at the word. The glare in the chef's eyes only caused the sharp shooter to flinch a moment later. There was nothing he could say to get him to stay, was there?
Nami held onto the rails as the waves started to grow more and more wild. Looking out onto the deck, she could see her crew members clearly. Robin stood near the head of the ship, Luffy was bouncing back bullets above the ship head, Brook was guarding the sides and Chopper was struggling to get Zoro below deck. She grimaced at the swordsman's appearance . He was bleeding but it was hard to tell if it was all his blood or not. Shutting her eyes, Nami tried to keep herself calm. There were a few more minutes before the storm would get to its peak. Knowing Franky, the Coup should be about ready. Opening her eyes, she ran over to help Chopper.
"Zoro, come on" Chopper tried to push the stubborn man towards the lower deck but he wouldn't budge. Instead, he kept pushing Chopper away. Chopper got back up and tried to convince the swordsman again. It was annoying that he had used his pills for the day. Any of his other bodies would have been more helpful here.
Nami ran around the reindeer and stood in front of Zoro. She frowned at him. "Zoro?", she called to him lightly, unsure if he could even recognize what was going on.
Taking a step forward, she slapped both hands on his cheeks, causing Chopper and him to jump. " Zoro! You can't be up here!"
He didn't respond. Instead, he blinked a few times, confused. "Nami?"
"Zoro, you need to get below deck, okay? You have to follow Chopper." She tried to keep him focused. He could blank out at any given moment.
Loud steps could be heard coming up the stairs. Glancing behind Zoro, she caught sight of Franky. They exchanged a glance with each other that went missed by the injured swordsman.
Nami turned around and ran towards the Helm. As she got to it, she reached for the lever underneath. "Everybody hold on." She yelled.
Chopper, who had been shocked at Nami's sudden change in action, let out a shriek. As he turned to hold onto Zoro, he was met with Franky stepping onto the deck.
"Sorry, Zoro-bro," He said quickly before grabbing a confused Zoro and quickly running back the way he came. Not knowing if the doctor of the ship was behind him, he yelled over his shoulder, "Come on, Chopper!"
The reindeer shook his head and ran after the cyborg, flailing his arms as he finally took in the situation. "You can't hold him like that! Be careful!" He yelled as they made their way towards his room.
The moment that the small group was out of sight, Nami pulled the lever. The boat shook for a second before shooting off into the air. Nami tried to hold onto the Helm but was knocked back by the sudden force of the wind. She had calculated that the least amount of damage they would get was from a corner of the storm so she had expected a strong gust of wind, but not as strong as it had blown past. She closed her eyes and braced herself, knowing that she might hit one of the ship walls. She waited for the impact but was instead met with a bounce. She opened her eyes, confused before glancing behind her.
"You okay, Nami?" Luffy asked.
The captain of the ship had a concerned expression as he held her to his quickly looked forward and nodded her head to answer him. As the ship landed, she walked out of his embrace and thanked him quickly. Glancing around the ship, she sighed at the damage she saw. Broken floor boards, some cracked walls and pillars, and the grass was even looking a little patchy. As she kept surveying the area, her eyes met Robin's. The raven haired women held a suggestive smirk and Nami turned and made her way towards the back of the ship as she tried to ignore her. As she approached her mikan tree, she placed her hands on her cheeks and tried to cool them down.
There's absolutely no reason for you to be getting excited, she thought to herself. He was just making sure his crew mate didn't get injured.
At the mention of that, she immediately thought of Zoro. Frowning, she reached for a Mikan, remembering his weird cravings with them. I'm sure he's fine. It's Zoro we're talking about. The image of his body kept coming into her head as she picked a Mikan. She began to pick a few more, thinking about how many he'd eat after seeing Chopper. He didn't have an obsession for them as much but he did have a sweet tooth he seemed to have developed.
As she plucked one of the Mikans, she stared at it before turning it around and seeing a dark dent in it. She frowned and looked at the trees and then their roots, confused. This was the first time she had plucked a rotten Mikan from her trees. She knelt down and looked at the roots closely, trying to let go of the bad feeling that was starting to creep up on her.
Below deck, Franky stood outside Chopper's room. He kept walking to the door, trying to get a peek through the little window on his door. He couldn't see anything though, considering that Chopper had pulled down his window shutters after kicking out the cyborg.
When Franky was carrying Zoro towards Chopper's room, the swordsman had passed out in his arms, which caused the doctor to panic. The reindeer panicking only made Franky panic, which made the cyborg ask a bunch of questions as he ran faster to the room. As soon as he had placed Zoro on the bed, Chopper pushed the cyborg out and locked it. Franky had been waiting ever since.
"How is he?"
Franky turned to see Brooke walking towards him. "I dont know." He turned back towards the door. "I'm not sure, but it's Zoro-bro we're talking about here."
The two did in silence as they started at the door. A moment later, Franky turned towards Brooke. "Where's everyone else?"
"Well," Brooke started as he walked a little closer to the door. "Nami and Robin are checking the deck out for damages."
He nodded his head. There were probably a bunch of things he'd have to fix later so it was good that they were doing that. "And Luffy?"
Brooke didn't say anything for a moment as he tried to see if he could hear anything from the room. Upon hearing nothing, he stepped back and turned towards Franky. "It would seem he took on a much more dangerous task."
Franky raised an eyebrow. "Dangerous? Luffy?"
Brooke nodded his head. "He went to talk to Sanji." He glanced at the door one last time before walking down the hall. "We should probably head that way as well."
Franky let out a sigh and followed Brooke. Of course they had to tell Sanji. The problem was how he would take it.
