Lin Ye raised a brow at what was going on now.

It was from one weird situation to another.

To be honest, if Lin Ye was not quick enough to stop himself as Nian literally dragged him away from the man, the moment Kieran grabbed his hand Lin Ye was about to give the man a hard slap on the face.

In a way, although Nian was the reason why he was in this situation in the first place, she helped him to not escalate this situation even further.

With distance now between the two parties and Nian basically shouting at him, Kieran snapped out of his previous state and noticed what he had done just now. In his defence, the Legatus looked ashamed of what he did.

"I am truly sorry. I did not know what overcame me," The man lowered his head to Lin Ye, "It was just that when you embraced me you reminded me of someone that I lost and I just couldn't-."

His rambling was stopped when Kieran felt something land on his head gently. The Sankta raised his head to see the gentle smiling face of Lin Ye looking down at him.

"It's fine. You did nothing wrong," Lin Ye said, "So raise your head. I can't talk to a person lowering their head to me."

Kieran wisely ignored the glaring woman that still had her arms wrapped around the doctor and was more focused on Lin Ye instead.

The way this man carried himself.

His smile.

His voice.

All of it felt so similar to his father's. It is so similar that Kieran really thought the man in front of him was truly his father.

That was impossible though.

That man already left the world years ago.

However, that did not change the fact Lin Ye made Kieran feel so safe.

Kieran finally raised his head and stared at the man in a daze. He still needed to figure out what to do in this situation.

Luckily for him, Lin Ye found a topic to talk about.

"So? Seeing that you are calmer now, I will repeat the question that I asked a moment ago," The way he spoke did not sound like he was mad at Kieran, "How do you feel now?"

Kieran collected back his thoughts to give this man a meaningful answer.

"I am… freer?" He replied even if he still sounded confused, "It's like something that held me down for a long time was taken far away from me."

Although Kieran knew it was not much, Lin Ye seemed stratified with his reply as he nodded at him.

"I see." Then he stared at the glaring dragon that was trapping his arm in her arms, "Nian, can you take a look at him for me?"

Nian stared up at Lin Ye's smiling face and back to glaring at the angel.

After glaring at the man for a while, Nian looked back at Lin Ye and nodded at him.

"The curse is gone," Nian said to him, "You did it Gege."

Lin Ye smiled at this.

"Good to hear," Lin Ye looked back at the man and smiled, "It seems that you are getting better."

The man's features brightened. With just a simple thing as him hoping for the best for the Legatus, Kieran felt at ease.

However, it seemed that the Doctor was not finished just yet.

"And about what happened today, can you keep this a secret," Lin Ye asked, "Just push my name to the Pope and keep this whole thing to yourself."

Normally such a request was impossible for Kieran to do. He was loyal to the city and nothing else.

However, after what had happened to him today, Kieran felt like he could finally think for himself.

Like he did not need to follow anyone and just do things of his own free will.

Ultimately, against everything that Kieran stood for a long time, he agreed.

"Of course," He nodded at Lin Ye with a smile, "I will tell the higher-ups regarding partnering with Rhodes Island."

What he said caught Lin Ye by surprise.

"You want to make sure we work together?" Lin Ye hummed, "Didn't you say that you were only suggesting this to them? What changed?"

Kieran nodded at his question.

"You showed me that Rhodes Island has more to offer than just medicines," He explained, "You have connections with two countries that we wanted to work with, Yan and Karlan."

Lin Ye nodded hearing this. What he told him made sense. Anyone that works with Rhodes Island will also get connections with Yan and Karlan.

However, Lin Ye knew something had changed about this man.

And he was the reason why.

The Doctor raised his hand to the Angel.

"I hope the next time we meet, you will tell me good news about this partnership," Lin Ye smiled at him.

Compared to the last time they shook hands, Kieran seemed more eager as he shook Lin Ye's hand.

With both hands, Kieran immediately gasped at his hand. Lin Ye noticed that his Halo and wings were shining brighter now too.

"I hope we will meet again soon," The man smiled at him.

Smiling at how happy he was, Lin Ye smiled back while Nian's glare became harsher now.

When Lin Ye let go of the man's hands, he noticed the angel's expression slightly… dim.

Before the man was about to say his farewell to the two of them, Kieran felt something in his hand again.

And again, it was this kind soul running his hand through his hair gently with the same kind smile on his face.

"We will meet again," The Doctor said in a firm tone, "That I promise you."

Without even waiting, Lin Ye pulled his hand away from his head and headed to the exit with Nian still holding onto his arm.

In a daze, Kieran could only watch as the man that just easily changed his life left.

Then he remembered he will meet him again.

His mood rose just by remembering this.

While making his way to the exit, Lin Ye glanced at the dragon that was glued to his arm.

After letting out a quick laugh, Lin Ye called her.

"Nian, how long are you going to hold me?" He asked patiently.

Without looking away from the doors in front of her, Nian answered, "Until we get far enough from that man."

Lin Ye only sighed at her reply.

"But weren't you the one that asked me to help him?" He asked.

"Yes, and I am regretting that decision now," Nian pouted as she replied.

Then she pulled on his arm to make him walk faster.

"Come on Gege!" Nian told him, "The faster we are out of this place, the better."

Lin Ye did not protest as he let Nian drag him with a smile on his face.

Although Lin Ye was smiling, he was the furthest thing from being happy now.

Nian did not notice this.

Kieran did not notice this.

However, he knew something was happening to his body after that hug.

Even before he touched Kieran, Lin Ye noticed something strange about him.

No… he was not the only person that felt strange.

Everyone in Laterano had something about them that made them feel… odd to Lin Ye.

That was the best way Lin Ye could explain his feelings towards the residents of this city.

Odd.

At first, he thought it was just him being in a new place and having a culture shock at how different Laterano was from the places he had been.

That was what he thought before.

That was what he believed.

But when he hugged Kieran, the odd feeling came back with a vengeance.

Lin Ye felt like he was absorbing something from him. Something that not a normal person would have.

But when that feeling appeared, it was gone in an instant.

Something was going on with the people of this city.

And Lin Ye had a hunch the Bastard knew something about this.

He snapped himself back to reality when Lin Ye noticed the two of them were about to arrive at the huge exit.

Not the time to think about that.

Just when Nian was about to drag him out of the church, Lin Ye accidentally bumped into someone.

Lin Ye looked back at the person and saw it was a man wearing a robe to cover his body.

"Sorry about that," He apologized.

This shocked the man. Like getting an apology from the person was something odd.

He quickly recovered and gave Lin Ye a quick nod before walking deeper into the church

Nian then tugged on his arm to get his attention.

"Let's go Gege!" Nian ushered, "Hurry! I am hungry!" Lin Ye chuckled and let her drag him out of the church.

However, Lin Ye looked back at the figure behind them

A devil in a church? Never thought that I would see that.

Atif did not know what was going on today.

Someone just apologized to him. He knew that the man saw his horns. However, rather than being attacked by him, he apologized.

Something was not right.

Something changed.

He had been living in Laterano for a while now. He thought he would understand what he should have expected of this city by now.

Although he had a beautiful lover by his side, Atif still knew that Laterano would not be willing to accept him. However, he still endured it all.

As long as he was by her side, he was willing to put up with anything.

However, something changed.

She was pregnant now.

He was overjoyed by this news. But when he finally understood what was going on, Atif could only feel dread.

What was he supposed to do now?

He was a Sarkaz in the land of Angels. No one was willing to help him.

Today was doing the unthinkable, Atif will be asking for help from the damn Church of all places.

Unsurprisingly, she was not that fond of him doing this but what choice did they have?

The best he could get from all of this was some money to help her by giving himself to the Pope.

As he walked deeper into the so-called holy place, he saw a Sankta in a daze. He was standing on the altar while glancing at the tinted window beside him.

It seemed that he heard him coming his way with how he pulled his gaze away from the window and onto him.

Atif stopped walking and stood just an arm's reach from the Sankta.

"Will there be any other people coming to this place?"

The Sankta smiled at him as he shook his head.

"No. Today no one should be in the cathedral," He hummed, "However, with you being here, there must be a good reason why you came, no?"

Atif knew the moment he pulled down his hood, his smile would instantly disappear.

However, there was a chance, no matter how small it was, that he might be able to help them.

With no other choice, he took a leap.

He slowly pulled down his hood, revealing his face to the man in front of him.

Those demon horns that he hid for years now were out on display. He lowered his head to the man. Atif already knew he was staring at him in disgust.

"I am asking for help," His voice was barely a whisper, "Please, if you arrest me, just help the people I care about."

Rather than hearing a reply, Atif heard footsteps that were getting louder. He did not dare to raise his head to look.

After a while, he saw feet in front of him.

When he prepared for the worst to come, Atif felt a hand land on his shoulder.

"Raise your head young man," A voice kindly said to him, "I can't talk with someone that has their head lowered to me."

Atif slowly raised his head and saw something that he did not expect to see.

The Sankta was smiling at him.

"My name is Kieran," He introduced himself, "I am going to help you no matter what."

Maybe Feoria was right.

Miracles really existed.
