"Is that all Sir?"
A well-dressed Sankta man smiled at Lin Ye as he asked him.
Tapping on the menus that he gathered from the rest, Lin Ye smiled and gave them to the waiter. The man took it away from him and held them firm against his body.
"I think that would be enough for us," Lin Ye nodded, "Thank you for the service."
With one final bow, the waiter left the room. Seeing his chance, Lin Ye looked around in the room that the group was now in.
He got to say, Lin Ye did not know that they would get a personal café in the hotel's restaurant. Kal'tsit really outdid herself with her preparation. This area was really large in size, almost the same size as his new room. The decorations in the room made Lin Ye feel like he was in a luxury restaurant.
Lin Ye's glancing stopped when he felt something tugging on his sleeve. He looked to his side and noticed it was Nian. Behind her was Blaze staring at him like some sort of puzzle.
From the corner of his eyes, the Doctor also noticed Ansel's group looking at him in the same manner.
They must have their question.
However, family comes first.
Lin Ye's face softened and stared at Nian
"What is it, Nian?" Lin Ye raised a brow.
"They don't have spicy food!"
Lin Ye chuckled at this.
"Don't worry I gave them the spicy chocolate," Lin Ye reassured her, "I think they are able to do something with it."
Hearing this, Nian's eyes widened. Without giving him a chance to react, Nian lunged at Lin Ye and wrapped her hands around his arms like snakes. Lin Ye had to push back if he did not want to fall. Nian raised her head and smiled at him.
"You're the best Gege!"
Sighing, Lin Ye got used to this and smiled back at her.
"Sure, sure," Lin Ye petted her head.
Although it was a heartwarming thing to see, Blaze still needed answers.
"Doctor, I have some questions for you," She called him as she folded her arms under her chest, "Do you mind answering them?"
Both siblings glanced at her.
Well… Lin Ye was glancing at her while Nian was glaring. The deity did not really like her time with Lin Ye being interrupted. Blaze was not a pushover though and glared back at her.
The others could feel sparks of flames flying between the two now.
Before anything from happening, Lin Ye quickly answered Blaze.
"Sure," He nodded, "What is it?"
Blaze focused back on him now.
"It's about the negotiation that you did in the church," Blaze said, "You didn't really tell us about the result of it."
Blaze leaned back on her chair and noticed how comfortable it was.
What she said was true. The moment Lin Ye has dragged out from the church by Nian, he immediately brought them back to the hotel building and to the private café, they were in now. The reason why he did all of this was that Nian got hungry and seeing that they got a room all for themselves he thought it was for the best of all.
Lin Ye nodded at her, understanding where she was coming from.
"We got the partnership," Lin ye dropped this bombshell without any warning to them, "Based on what Kieran told me, he seemed to be quite confident in getting that. I trust him."
Everyone was not ready to hear this from him. Except for Nian, their eyes were wide open as they stared at Lin Ye like he had a second head.
The person in question noticed the stares that he was getting and raised a brow.
"What? You don't believe me?"
Although he was not mad at them for doubting him, Lin Ye was still confused by their reaction.
Was his reputation that bad on the Landship now that people have low expectations of him?
He had a hunch about the culprit that did this to him.
While Lin Ye was busy scheming a way to cook a certain bird, Adnachiel was still in doubt.
Out of all the people in the room, he might be the person that knew Kieran the most. Although he interacted only a couple of times, from what he got from him and the empathy, Kieran was a man that was hard to persuade.
However, this man, The Doctor, only needed an hour of chatting and was able to get what he wanted.
It did not make sense to him.
The Doctor must have done something.
"Doctor? Can I ask, what did you do in there?" The angel was too curious to not ask to him.
Hearing this, Lin Ye snapped him out of his scheming and glanced at Adnachiel.
"I didn't do anything special," He shrugged his shoulders, "I just talked."
"That's it?" Blaze leaned closer to him, "You talked?"
Lin Ye smiled at her.
"Well, that's what negotiating is, talking," He hummed, "If I didn't talk, how can I negotiate with him then?"
"…"
Blaze did not have anything to say to this. What he said made sense.
"Although this is not my place to ask, does Rhodes Island really need to work with Laterano?" Adnachiel suddenly asked him, "We already got Yan behind us so getting Laterano working alongside us seems not useful to us. Even if Kieran, I believe, would not even consider working with us because they already got Rhine Lab to help them with medicines."
Blaze was not that good at cooperation with other parties, she was more of a battle operator than an ambassador. However, what Adnachiel said made sense. Since Rhodes Island suddenly got support from Yan out of all places, they were now in a good place.
With Yan behind them, no one would dare to attack them, afraid to get the wrath of the Land of legends.
Why did Rhodes Island want to get a partnership with Laterano?
She did not know this.
Kal'tsit only gave her a brief overview of what she needed to do in this mission.
Protect the Doctor.
Nothing more, nothing less.
So she was clueless like the rest.
However, one of them knew what they were doing there.
It was the man that still had his small smile on his face.
Lin Ye nodded at what he said.
"You think we came here to get a partnership with Laterano to get more profit?" Lin Ye asked with a smile, "Is that what you think this is all about?"
"What else then?" Steward suddenly made himself known and asked, "other than that I don't know why we are doing all of this to begin with."
Stewards said the thing that they all wanted to say. Their eyes were all on the Doctor now.
Like always, he had the same small smile on his face.
"This has nothing to do with money sadly," Lin Ye chuckled, "We just wanted a connection with Laterano."
"But why?" Ansel asked, still confused at all of this, "I can see any other reason."
Lin ye leaned back on his seat.
"More connections mean more people we can reach," Lin Ye smiled.
He held out his hand like he was reaching out to someone.
"The more people we can reach, the more we can help."
Their eyes widened upon hearing this.
Something that was so simple, but they couldn't think about.
Then he pulled back his hand to him.
"That's all. Nothing more and nothing less."
They did not know what to say to something like this.
And they did not have the time to ask even if they knew what to say because the waiter arrived at the table with their food.
{Rhodes Island's Psychologist}
Lin Ye flopped onto his bed, headfirst into the mattress.
Although he was the one that came up with the idea of eating, he kind of regrets it now.
It all started the moment Blaze was interested in the food Nian was eating. She knew that her food was custom-made and was not on the menu. When she noticed this, she asked her if she could taste some of it.
In a rare moment of responsibility, Nian warned Blaze about how spicy it was. Blaze huffed and did not think much of her warning. Seeing this, Nian smirked and gave some to her.
Surprisingly, Blaze did not react as how she expected her to. The Feline seemed pleasantly surprised at how spicy it was. However, it was not something she couldn't handle.
If that was the end, Lin Ye wouldn't be so tired at the moment.
For some reason, Blaze thought it was a good idea in trying to annoy Nian by saying this was nothing and she had spicier things. Just to make a point, she even said if Nian thought this was spicy, her spice tolerance was lower than expected.
Luckily for Blaze and not for him, although Nian had a smile on her face, she was annoyed at what she heard.
And do you know what happened?
Nian busted into the kitchen of the hotel and demanded to be allowed to cook something.
At first, the chefs in the kitchen were about to kick them out but were stopped by Lin Ye telling them he was willing to pay for the ruckus that they caused.
They seemed to know who Lin Ye was and much to his surprise they were willing to give them the whole kitchen to use.
Maybe they did not have anyone to serve for today.
You could guess what happened next.
It was an all-out war.
Nian was cooking monstrosity after monstrosity.
And Blaze is eating all of them.
They kept this up until Blaze was full and Nian was tired. Lin Ye and the others were safe because they loved themselves and let the chaos be.
They also needed to carry both of the warriors back to their rooms.
"How long?" you might ask.
With the moon high in the sky now, Lin Ye would say it was longer than it should have been.
It was safe to say after the scuffle, the kitchen will never be the same after this brutal war.
Lin ye sighed into bed and moved his head to see the door. From what he remembered; he still did not lock it.
However, with Nian always breaking into his room, Lin Ye thought it was wiser for him to just let it be. He did not want Nian to break the damn door after all.
Although he still had his coat on, tiredness slowly crept onto his body. Rather than fighting it, Lin ye let himself be embraced by it.
The world around him slowly faded into black as he closed his eyes.
{Rhodes Island's Psychologist}
The world was still black when Lin Ye opened his eyes again.
The void.
He was back in it.
So that meant…
"Yo," A voice echoed behind him.
Without even seeing his face, Lin Ye already knew who it was.
His voice was annoyingly recognizable.
Turning around Lin Ye saw the person he expected.
His white robe still covering his body and a smirk on his face
"A quiz?" Lin Ye asked.
Much to his surprise, the man shook his head at him.
"Just me checking up," The man answered with a smirk under his hood, "Oh, and an update on making the body. It's going well. Just need some organs here and cell there. After that I should be done. You definitely destroy a handful of them."
Lin Ye raised a brow at what he was hearing. Although the former was a surprise, what Lin Ye was more focused on was the latter.
The body.
He almost forgot about that.
This man used Ying Jie's body for something. He still did not tell him about it and Lin Ye had little interest in what this man does with his free time.
"Get on with them," He folded his arms under his chest, "What is it?"
Rather than be offended by how harsh Lin Ye was with his words, the man seemed amused.
"So how's Laterano?" The man asked, "Anything caught your eye?"
Lin Ye's eyes narrowed at this question,
"Laterano… Something is odd about this place." Lin Ye admitted, "I noticed that the people in this place are different. It's like they're…"
"A hivemind," The man tapped on his head, "Something along those lines?"
"A hivemind?" Lin Ye muttered under his breath. Then he nodded at the man, "Yes. It's like they are linked to something. Mostly the Sankta."
The man seemed happy to hear this.
"Good, you noticed," He praised him, "Not many people feel this in Laterano."
"What is going on there?" Lin Ye asked.
The man hummed.
"The Law? Have you heard of it before?"
Hearing the man's question, Lin Ye nodded.
"It's what makes Sankta a Sankta," Lin Ye replied, "There is also a set of rules that Sankta need to follow or else they will be cut off from it. I only heard about it briefly."
The man folded his arms and nodded.
"Good, good. You did your research," The man sounded proud, "Have you heard of Empathy of Sankta?"
Lin Ye raised a brow at this.
"Empathy of Sankta?" After thinking about this for a while, Lin Ye shook his head at him, "No idea what that is."
He walked closer to him and stopped just an arm's reach away from Lin Ye.
"To put it simply, it's what Sankta get as a race," The man placed his hand on his chest, "They can feel a positive emotion from one another just existing."
The man smiled at Lin Ye.
"You can guess why something like this is an advantage to them in power, no?"
He did not need to even think that long to understand what he meant.
Communication.
In some way, the Sankta could communicate with one another without using any devices. You don't need to be Sun Tzu to know that communication was very important in War. With the ability to use guns, it came as no surprise why Laterano was considered a powerhouse on Terra.
As Lin Ye was thinking about this, he noticed something about this that did not sit right with him.
"Positive emotions?" Lin Ye stared at the man in confusion, "What about the negative ones?"
The man's smirk grew just by hearing this.
"A clue," The man raised a finger, "The Law is what makes Sankta able to feel positive emotions."
At first, Lin Ye did not understand what this man was talking about. However, it did not take long before Lin ye realized something.
"There is something that is blocking the negative feelings," Lin Ye muttered to himself, "Something that is as strong as the Law."
Then a word echoed into his head.
"Abomination." The word escaped from his mouth.
Clapping followed after he said this.
"Good job," The man chuckled, "As a reward, I will give you one more important piece of information for you."
Lin Ye's eyes narrowed at the man.
"Sankta are not the only ones that can feel their own emotions." The man said to him, "In the distant past, a race could do this as well, far earlier than the Angels. A race that did exist before the Sankta."
The man smirked at Lin Ye.
"The Devils," The man hummed, "The Sarkaz."
Before Lin ye could ask more about this, the world around him turned dark.
{Rhodes Island's Psychologist}
The first thing Lin Ye saw when he opened his eyes was a blinding light. He needed to squint his eyes at this sudden attack. Moving his head, he saw the light coming from the window and that damn sun was just sending one of its rays directly to his face.
Lin ye looked away from the window and his eyes landed on his body. He raised a brow when he noticed his coat was not on him and was tucked under a blanket.
Before he could even guess what happened to him, Lin Ye heard light breathing beside him.
Looking beside him, he saw a lump under the blanket. Smiling at this, Lin Ye raised it and saw Nian curled near him as she slept.
He hummed as he gently brushed the back of his hand on her cheek.
"Thanks," He whispered, "I am really lucky to have a sister like you."
Then a figure appeared in his mind. She had the same hair and eyes as his. This made Lin Ye's face soften.
Nian, who was still sleeping, pushed her head nearer to his body.
A quiet laugh escaped from his mouth.
Then he heard someone knocking on his door.
Although he was still drowsy, Lin Ye pushed himself off his bed and made his way to the door.
With a quick motion, he opened the door to greet the person.
His eyes widened when he saw the person in front of him glaring holes in his body.
Then a laugh erupted from him.
"I was just thinking about you," After stopping himself from laughing, he smiled at the person in front of him.
"Hey there Lily."
