Hey, guys. This is my very first Euphoria story and it's gonna feature my OC Vincent Chiang and his life navigating through high school as he deals with his own experiences of drugs, sex, friendship, love, identity, and trauma. This is his introduction and how he fits into the circle of the students who have their own experiences. Will he be able to get through high school or will his own past gets the best of him? This isn't a chapter, but this one is his biography and backstory.
Early Life
"I don't remember my father. All I know is that he was arrested and sent to prison for drug possession, as well as child abuse." - Vincent Rodriquez-Chiang
Vincent was born on February 6th of 2001, seven months before the 9/11 attacks. Growing up in a small town of Barcelona, Spain, Vincent comes from a mix of Chinese and Spanish background, due to his father's Chinese background and his mother's Spanish background.
Being only the kid in his family, or so that's what he's been told, Vincent had suffered child abuse, and this led to his father's arrest. Having moved to the California State at the age of nine, Vincent was offered to a chance to start a new life, although his trauma would trigger right away if he saw a child being abused by the parents. His mother eventually got a job as a therapist to help those who are drug users and alcoholics, as well as those who are victims of abuse.
During the summer, after moving to Highland, California, Vincent tried to move on from his troubled past, as well as trying not to get himself involved in any drama or conflict. Now at the age of sixteen, Vincent isn't convinced that he would get through high school. But he wants to pursue a basketball scholarship in college one day.
Personality
Described as a loner, Vincent rarely showed a smile on his face, even though he didn't have much friends back home in Barcelona, due to the trauma he endured. His mother, Eva, convinces him to make friends and get through high school to socialize with more kids like his age. Sometimes his own anger issues would lead to a fight with the popular jocks. He would also become protective of his own friends, but he would occasionally keep himself out of his friends' private life, as well as keeping himself out of their romantic relationships.
On the inside, Vincent can sometimes socialize with others if he's not on school campus, but on the outside, he doesn't hesitate to lash out at anyone who would take their jokes a little too far or pressuring others to do something they don't want. But when he's not with his group of friends, he would go on social media or make a phone call as well as text messaging whenever he wants. He also has a habit of speaking and cursing in Spanish or in Chinese. Whenever someone brings up or mentions his father Raymond, Vincent would tell them it wasn't the best time to talk about his father. But he doesn't want anyone to convince him to visit his father in prison because of all the the things Vincent's father had done to Vincent and Eva.
Despite being a loner, Vincent has a sense of humor, but he would also carry the sarcasm with him. And he doesn't like to be told to cut his sarcasm. Although he sometimes judges people for the mistakes they made, but he would eventually forgive them and move on.
Physical Appearance
Vincent is always seen with straight dark brown hair with brown-bluish eyes, with his dark brunette hair and blue eyes inherited from Eva and his brown eyes inherited from Raymond. Vincent can sometimes be seen with curly dark brown hair, but doesn't like to be questioned about it. His skin complexion is a mix of light and tanned skin, due to light skin inherited from Raymond and tan skin inherited from Eva. Vincent also has an ear piercing on his left ear, having got his left ear pierced at the age of sixteen.
He sometimes can be seen wearing a rock band t-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans or vintage style of his choice as well as some well known popular shoe brands. When he's out on the basketball courts outside of school, he wears the Spanish National Basketball Team jersey and shorts. While not in school, Vincent wears a sleeveless shirt and a pair of shorts at home.
Vincent is also described having a tall, leaner, and muscular figure build, having spent his time playing basketball and trying to earn scholarships.
Relationships
Eva Rodriquez-Chiang
Vincent shares a strong mother-son relationship with his mother Eva, due to their close bond they have with each other. Eva taught Vincent how to speak Spanish since he was three. But sometimes, she would tell him not to curse in Spanish, although she would say things in Spanish, a language that no one else would ever understand. Having watched her own son being abused by Raymond, Eva notified that Barcelona police force and reported the child abuse. Holding her son close to her, Eva told Vincent that they were leaving Barcelona and they were gonna move to the States to start a new life. Despite being hesitant on having to leave his own home that he grew up in, Vincent agreed to leave Barcelona and immigrated to the States with Eva. Even though Vincent and Eva have a strong mother-son relationship, she would scold him on coming home late. Despite this, Vincent loves his mother very much, and he would take necessary steps to protect Eva.
Lexi Howard
Vincent first met Lexi when he was in pre-school and he got along with her really well, and he ended up developing feelings for her soon afterwards. One night after becoming friends, Lexi went over to Vincent's house and she told him that her father had stopped coming to visit her and Cassie and he allowed her to stay at his house for the weekend. Since then, Vincent had eventually warmed up to Lexi due to their own childhood experiences. They ended up becoming best friends and he ended up calling her one of the prettiest girls he ever met since they were kids. He then ended up being there for her whenever no one else could. They would often hang out after school on a daily basis.
Maddy Perez
Vincent met Maddy when they both started their first year of high school and they never had any trouble getting along. By the time he found out that she was dating Nate Jacobs, Vincent kept his distance, although he and Maddy would only talk to each other when Nate wasn't around. Since then, they both became good friends, but Vincent still hated Nate's guts. And although Vincent isn't really romantically interested in Maddy, he still knew that she deserved better than her toxic relationship with Nate. Maddy would sometimes rely on Vincent for moral support whenever she needs it from him.
And that is the biography of my OC character. So, what do you guys think of him? Let me know what you thought of him in the reviews and I'm open to criticism. While at that, happy holidays and I hope you guys got your Christmas gifts.
