Chapter 5

When Haley walked into the apartment, she was greeted by Brooke's barely clothed body entering the kitchen.

"Put some clothes on," she stated and continued to her room.

A few minutes later, a fully clothed Brooke fell onto Haley's bed next to her.

"Rough afternoon?"

"Do you even have to ask."

"I'm sorry, Hales."

"Its not your fault." Both girls lay silent for awhile. "Steven didn't buy the whole traffic thing."

"Why not?"

"He heard your phone conversation, and saw my ring on the counter."

"What did you tell him?"

"That I stayed at Amber's."

"He believed you?"

"Only after I started crying."

"Why were you crying?" Brooke asked worried.

"Because his mother is ruining my wedding." Brooke could hear the uneasiness in Haley's voice now. "Its not suppose to be like this."

"I know. But I have something to take your mind off of it," Brooke said propping herself up on one arm and facing Haley with a large smile plastered across her face.

"No more. One night, that was all I wanted."

"Oh yeah, you still haven't told me about your late night romp with Nathan Scott."

"That's beautiful, Brooke."

"What? It was amazing wasn't it?"

"It was alright." It took everything inside her not to smile. It was the first time she had really felt like smiling since she left his house.

"Liar! Tell me everything. Now!"

"Well, after you left me and started making out with some guy, who you'll explain about later, I was forced to spend the rest of the night with him."

"Force? So, it was rough?"

"Brooke!" Haley squealed.

"I just want to know about the sex, Haley. Not all the other stuff."

"Let's just say that if he plays basketball as good as he fucks, then he'll have a very prosperous career."

"I knew it! I saw gave him to you."

"You forced him upon me."

"And you loved it. Finally, I mean its about time you had some decent sex."

"It was sex Brooke, that's it."

"I know, but was it good enough to make you not want to marry Steven?"

"Brooke. I told you I just wanted one night, and that's what I got. Now, I want to know about your mystery guy."

Brooke smiled. "Lucas."

"So?"

"Remember how I said I had something to take your mind off Steven and his witch of a mother."

"I'm not having sex with him, Brooke."

"Damn right you're not, he's mine. Although, I think that little outburst proves that you do want more than one night of hot sex."

"The point, Brooke."

"Yeah, well he called earlier and we're going to hang out."

"And what does that have to do with me?"

"He's staying with his brother, because he just moved into town, and so I told him I'd bring a friend."

"So what? I get stuck with the brother while you make out with this Luke boy?"

"Please.." Brooke begged. "I promise I'll make it up to you."

"Fine, but you owe me."

Brooke flung her arms around Haley and embraced her tightly. "It'll be fun. Promise."

"That's what you always say."

"At least its better than hanging out with Steven's mom."

"True."

"We're supposed to meet them at the movie theater around the corner in forty-five minutes."

"Whenever you get ready, I'll be in here."

"Aren't you going to change?"

"Why?"

"I already told you about the khaki. Please, I don't want Lucas to think I hang out with a prude."

"I'm not a…"

"I know, that's why I don't want him to think it. Please."

"Fine. You're lucky I love you."

"I know." Brooke flashed another smile, and then went to finish dressing.
