Episode 2- Strangers

The group were walking down the road still getting further away from Terminus. The smoke still billowed in the distance. They stopped in the woods to rest for a bit. Tara saw Maggie and Glenn kiss and embrace, causing her to feel bad after what happened at the prison. She feels slightly responsible for them getting separated in the first place. Rick approached her.

"You didn't want to be there. That's why I tried to talk to you." Rick said. "Glenn told me you saved his life."

"He saved mine." Tara smiled.

"That's how it works with us, right?" Rick said.

"Right." Tara said. She outstretched her arm for a fist bump.

Rick chuckled and bumped his fist to hers. "Get something to eat. We'll start back at sunup." He said.

LeRoy and Amanda were sitting together near the stream. "I still can't believe those pricks took our weapons. Those swords were in our family for generations." LeRoy said.

"I know. It feels like I've lost part of my identity." Amanda said.

"Once you're used to chopping down walkers with a sword, no other weapons feel right." LeRoy said.

"So how'd you get involved with Abraham and his crew in the first place?" Amanda asked.

"I told Abraham I'll join their mission to DC if they helped me find you." LeRoy said.

"We found each other." Amanda said.

"Yeah, we did. Maybe we shouldn't have split up. You should've been there with me to avenge our baby brother." LeRoy said.

"Yeah, maybe I should've…" Amanda said, looking down. "I can't believe I fell for it; Troy's lies. I'm such an idiot." She said.

"You're not an idiot, Mandy." LeRoy assured.

"I am. First, I chose to believe that our father murdered his own son. I believed a stranger that I barely knew over my own blood. Then, I was naive enough to buy his bullshit story on what happened with you and dad in the forest." Amanda said.

LeRoy sighed. "Well, to be honest, I did wonder why you believed Troy so easily."

"I don't know. I guess I had so much resentment towards dad because of how he treated Leo and how he used to treat us that I just wanted to believe it." Amanda said.

"Dad sure was a major prick sometimes." LeRoy said.

"More like most of the time." Amanda said. "Anyway, what do you think about this Eugene guy? You think he's legit?"

"I'm not sure, it's hard to tell. I mean, it seems like he knows his shit, doesn't it?" LeRoy asked.

"I don't know, but it better be legit. If I'm going all the way to DC, it better be for a pretty damn good reason." Amanda said.

"You're right. I don't think this Rick guy is on board yet though. I'm sure Abraham will talk to him soon." LeRoy said as he got up. "Let's go join the others."

As the group continued their walk in the woods, they spotted a lone walker stumbling toward them. "I got it." Michonne said. She forgot that her sword was taken at Terminus and tried to reach for it behind her back, smiling in amusement when she realized. She used the automatic rifle she was carrying to knock the walker down. She then pinned the walker to the ground with her foot and bashed it's head in with the gun.

"Right there is why we're waiting for our moment." Abraham said to Sasha as they watched Michonne.

"Yeah, fair enough." Rosita said.

At night, the group was camping and Rick and Kenny were talking to Carol. "We owe you everything." Kenny said.

"You guys owe Tyreese. He was at the prison." Carol said.

"You got back there." Rick said.

Carol looked down doubtfully. She pulled Rick's watch out of her pocket; the one he gave to Sam and that she found in Terminus. She handed it to Rick. "It was in one of their storerooms."

"I saw them kill him. That kid." Rick said.

"Poor bastard." Kenny said. "Look, Carol, I know you don't think we owe you, but we do. You saved our asses. You saved Clem, AJ, everyone." He said.

"Anyone would've done the same thing." Carol said.

"Not like that." Kenny said.

"Now, I still don't know about what you did…but I know you knew some things we didn't." Rick said. "We sent you away to this—"

"You guys said I could survive. You were right." Carol said.

"We sent you away to this and now we're joining you. Will you have us?" Rick asked. Carol smiled and nodded. "Thank you." He said before walking away.

Kenny gave Carol a nod of gratitude and followed Rick.

Later that night, Carol and Daryl were sitting together by a tree. They were silent, the only sounds coming from the noisy insects that come out at night. Carol could feel Daryl looking at her and she knew what he was thinking about.

"I don't want to talk about it. I can't. I just need to forget it." Carol said.

"All right." Daryl said.

Daryl and Carol heard leaves rustling ahead of them in the dark forest. They immediately got up and readied. Daryl looked closely in the direction the sound came from but didn't see anything. "It's nothing." He said.

Was the group being watched?

(Intro)

The next morning…

The group was continuing their walk through the woods when they heard leaves rustling. Rick, Carl, Michonne, Kenny, and Sasha quickly raised their guns. The noise turned out to be from Daryl, who was returning from his hunt.

"We surrender." Daryl joked, holding up his dead squirrels. The group continued on and Daryl walked beside Rick and Kenny. "No tracks. No nothing." He said.

"So whatever you heard last night…" Rick said.

"It's more what I felt. If someone was watching us, there would have been something." Daryl said.

"We'll need to be on the lookout." Kenny said. "Keep close." He said to the group.

"Ready to get some concrete under your feet?" Abraham asked Rick.

"I think it's time." Rick said.

"That is sweet music to my ears, Officer. Take the next road we come to, try to get back to going north till we find a vehicle. Good?" Abraham suggested.

"Good." Rick agreed. "Tighten it up." He said to Maggie, Glenn, Tara, and Jane, who were slacking behind.

"Uh, wet socks." Sasha said to Bob as they walked.

"Cool feet." Bob said.

"Mosquito bites."

"Itching reminds you you're alive."

"Danger around every corner."

"Never a dull moment."

"The hot sun beating down on you."

"Come on, a glorious tan." Bob said gleefully, making Sasha laugh. "I said it and I meant it."

"No privacy." Sasha said.

"Captive audience." Bob said and the two of them shared a kiss. Tyreese smiled as he walked behind them. Bob walked ahead allowing Tyreese to walk next to Sasha.

"He's a damn expert at that." Sasha said.

"What was it?" Tyreese asked.

"A little game. Good out of the bad." Sasha said. Tyreese chuckled.

"Do you think anyone else from the prison made it out?" Clementine asked Luke as they walked together.

"I don't know. I hope some did. I really do." Luke said.

"I'm so sorry about Nick. He was a great guy." Clementine said.

"He was. I know we weren't always on the same page but...he was like a brother to me." Luke said sadly.

"He loved you. I know he did. That's all that matters." Clementine said. Luke just looked to the ground.

"Hey, Clem." Kenny said, catching up to her as they walked. "How you doing, kid?" He asked.

"Hey, Kenny." Clementine said quietly as she looked away. Kenny took notice of her tone and raised an eyebrow.

"Clem, is something wrong?" Kenny asked.

Clementine shook her head. "No. I'm fine, Kenny." She said with a forced smile.

"Okay, Clem." Kenny said, feeling concerned for her yet skeptical.

Suddenly, the group heard the sound of a man screaming. "Help! Help, anybody! Help!' The man was screaming.

Rick halted everyone to stop moving but Carl and Sarah were eager to help.

"Dad, come on." Carl said. Rick hesitated.

"Someone needs our help." Sarah said.

"Come on! Come on." Carl pleaded. Rick gave in and signaled the group to spring into action.

They followed the sound of the screaming and found an African American man dressed in a priest outfit on top of a rock trying desperately to kick off the walkers that were grabbing at his feet.

The group reached him and started taking out the walkers. Carl shot one in the head and Clementine shot another. Rick grabbed a walker and slammed it's head against the rock and Michonne smashed one with her rifle. Kenny took out his knife and stabbed another walker and Daryl took out the last one with his crossbow.

"We're clear. Keep watch." Rick said to the group.

The priest was still on top of the rock looking nervous. "You can come on down now." Kenny said. The priest carefully and reluctantly climbed down from the rock. The rest of the group just stared at him as he looked around at the strangers nervously.

"You okay?" Rick asked.

The priest held up a finger and vomited all of a sudden. Some of the group looked away in disgust. "Sorry." The priest said, regaining his composure. "Yes. Thank you. I'm Gabriel."

"Do you have any weapons on you?" Rick asked.

Gabriel chuckled. "Do I look like I would have any weapons?" He said.

"We don't give two short and curlies what it looks like." Abraham said.

"I have no weapons of any kind. The word of God is the only protection I need." Gabriel said.

"It sure as hell didn't look like it." Kenny said.

"I called for help. Help came." Gabriel smiled. His smile went away when he saw that the whole group was just staring at him blankly. "Do you have— have any food? Whatever I— I had left, it just hit the ground." He said nervously.

"We've got some pecans." Carl said, handing the pecans to him.

"Thank you." Gabriel said. He heard the sound of a baby cooing and saw Tyreese holding Judith and Sarah holding AJ. "Those are beautiful children." He said. Rick and the group were still just staring at Gabriel suspiciously, making him nervous. "Do you have a camp?"

"No. Do you?" Rick asked.

"I have a church." Gabriel said.

"Hold your hands above your head." Rick said. Gabriel raised his hands and Rick started frisking him. "How many walkers have you killed?" Rick asked him.

"Not any, actually." Gabriel chuckled.

"Turn around." Rick forced him to turn around so he could frisk the back of him. "How many people have you killed?"

"None." Gabriel said as Rick finished frisking him.

"Why?" Rick asked firmly.

"Because the lord abhors violence." Gabriel said.

"What have you done? We've all done something." Rick asked. Gabriel looked at Rick confused.

"I'm a sinner. I sin almost every day. But those sins, I confess them to God, not strangers." Gabriel said.

"You said you had a church?" Michonne asked. Gabriel nodded.

Father Gabriel was leading the group to his church in the woods. "Hey, earlier, were you watching us?" Rick asked.

"I keep to myself. Nowadays, people are just as dangerous as the dead, don't you think?" Gabriel said.

"No, people are worse." Kenny said.

"Well, I wasn't watching you. I haven't been beyond the stream near my church more than a few times since it all started. That was the furthest I've gone before today." Gabriel said. "Or maybe I'm lying. Maybe I'm lying about everything and there's no church ahead at all. Maybe I'm leading you into a trap so I can steal all your squirrels." He said with a laugh. The group slowed down and just stared at him unamused. Gabriel saw their serious expressions and his smile dropped. "Members of my flock had often told me that my sense of humor leaves much to be desired." He said nervously as Rick eyed him intensely.

"Yeah, it does." Daryl said.

The group made it to Gabriel's church. It was a small one in the middle of a clearing in the woods. Gabriel went up to the door but Rick stopped him.

"Hold up. Can we look around first?" Rick asked. "We just want to hold on to our squirrels." He said. Gabriel handed Rick the keys.

Rick entered the church first, his AK-47 raised up and ready. Michonne, Daryl, Kenny, Luke, Carol, Glenn, and Mike came in behind him with their weapons drawn. They looked around and cleared the few rooms that were in the church. Rick went up to the altar and behind it, he saw what had to be over a hundred empty cans of food. Kenny walked up next to him and saw them too.

"Holy shit." Kenny said softly. "This guy must've been here this whole time. Either that or he's not telling the truth about being alone."

Rick looked skeptical. "He's hiding something." He said.

While checking one of the rooms with Michonne and Glenn, Luke noticed a bunch of children's drawings taped to the wall, which made him smile. "This reminds me of my niece. She loved drawing with me whenever I would come see her. " He said to Michonne.

Michonne smiled softly. "I didn't know you had a niece." She said.

Luke gave a slight smile. "I did. She was special." His smile slowly dropped and he started to look a bit sad.

Michonne noticed his sad expression. "Hey. You alright?" She asked softly.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine." Luke said.

Rick whistled, signaling to everyone that the sweep was complete. They all exited the church.

"I spent months here without stepping out the front door. If you found someone inside, well, it would have been surprising." Gabriel said as they came out the door.

"Thanks for this." Carl said as he held Judith.

"We found a short bus out back. It don't run, but I bet we could fix that in less than a day or two. Father here says he doesn't want it." Abraham said to Rick.

"Great. Looks like we got ourselves some transport." LeRoy said.

"You understand what's at stake here, right." Abraham asked Rick.

"Yes, I do." Rick said.

"Now that we can take a breath—" Michonne started.

"We take a breath, we slow down, shit inevitably goes down." Abraham interrupted.

"We can't sit around waiting for another herd to roll through. I say we go." Amanda said.

"We need supplies no matter what we do next." Michonne said firmly.

"That's right. Water, food, ammunition." Rick said, before going up the steps, back inside the church. The rest of the group followed.

"Short bus ain't going nowhere. Bring you back some baked beans." Daryl said to Abraham, before going inside.

"One way or another we're doing what Rick says. We're not splitting up again. " Glenn said to Abraham, before going inside.

"What he said." Tara said as she passed him.

"We want to roll with you, but...what she said." Bob said, before going inside with Sasha.

Leroy sighed. "Sorry, man. I'm all for leaving for DC but not right now. So...what they said." He said before going in with Amanda, leaving Abraham standing there frustrated.

"How'd you survive here for so long? Where did your supplies come from?" Rick asked Gabriel.

"Luck. Our annual canned food drive. Things fell apart right after we finished it. It was just me." Gabriel said.

"Looks like you had a pretty good haul. You all out?" Jane asked.

Gabriel nodded. "The food lasted a long time. And then I started scavenging. I've cleaned out every place nearby. Except for one." He said.

"What kept you from it?" Kenny asked.

"It's overrun." Gabriel said.

"How many?" Rick asked.

"A dozen or so. Maybe more." Gabriel answered.

Rick and Kenny exchanged looks. "We can handle a dozen." Rick said.

"Bob and I will go with you. Tyreese should stay here, help keep Judith and AJ safe. " Sasha said.

"That'll be okay?" Rick asked Tyreese.

"Sure. You ever need me to watch her, need anything for them, I'm right here." Tyreese said.

"I'm grateful for it. And everything else." Rick said. Tyreese nodded.

"I'll draw you a map." Gabriel said.

"You don't need to. You're coming with us." Rick said.

Gabriel looked puzzled and nervous. "I'm not gonna be of any help. You saw me. I'm no good around those things."

"You're coming with us." Rick repeated firmly.

Before heading out with the group to the place Gabriel knew about, Kenny stopped to talk to Clementine. He sat next to her on one of the pews. "Clem, I'm gonna need you to be on your A-game, here. You need to be always ready for anything."

"I'm always ready for anything." Clementine said confidently.

Kenny chuckled lightly. "This time you need to be extra ready. Rick and I don't trust this Gabriel guy. He could have friends somewhere that's ready to do something at any time." Kenny said.

"I've dealt with people before. I can do this." Clementine said.

"Good. Because AJ needs you and so does Sarah. I'm counting on you, Clem." Kenny said.

"I know, Kenny. We'll be fine." Clementine said. Kenny noticed how she kept trying to avoid eye contact with him.

"Clem, ever since we made it out of Terminus, you've been acting strange. Maybe even before that." Kenny said. "You always say you're fine, but it doesn't seem that way to me. You wanna tell me what's going on?" He asked concerningly.

Clementine looked down and sighed. "I'm just...worried about those people from Terminus. Some of them got away and they could be following us."

Kenny didn't fully believe she was being honest about what was bothering her, but he accepted her answer anyway. "That is a possibility. Daryl thought someone was watching us last night so we'll be on the lookout." Kenny said. Clementine nodded in reassurance. Kenny stood up from the seat. "We'll be back soon." He said.

The group that we're going on the supply run headed out.

Gabriel was in the front of the group leading Rick, Kenny, Michonne, Sasha, Bob, Mike, and Jane to the place he talked about.

"Hey." Bob said to Rick as he walked up next to him. "When you said they don't get to live, you weren't wrong. We push ourselves and let things go. Then we let some more go and some more. And pretty soon, there's things we can't get back. Things we couldn't hold on to even if we tried." Bob said. "Washington's gonna happen, Rick." He added.

"I haven't decided if we're going." Rick said.

"Yeah, I know, and that's cool. But you've seen Abraham in action. He's gonna get there and Eugene's gonna cure all this and you're gonna find yourself in a place where it's like how it used to be. And if you let too much go along the way, that's not gonna work." Bob said. "'Cause you gonna be back in the real world."

"This is the real world, Bob." Rick said.

"Naw. This is a nightmare, and nightmares end. I'm sorry. I'm calling it. Washington's gonna happen. You're gonna say yes. Already too much momentum. You can't fight city hall. Maybe that's just one of those parts of not letting go." Bob said.

Kenny and Mike were walking next to each other and Mike noticed that Kenny seemed lost in thought. "Hey, Ken. What's up?" Mike asked.

Kenny shook away his thoughts. "It's nothing."

Mike raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"

"Well, no. Do you think Clementine has been acting strange lately?" Kenny asked.

"What do you mean?" Mike asked.

"I don't know. It's just…ever since we were attacked by those Russians and Becca died, Clem has been acting differently. I don't know what's going on." Kenny said.

"You know, I think I did notice a little change but I didn't think much of it." Mike said.

"She avoids eye contact with me, she gives me short responses to everything I say to her, and she's just...distant." Kenny said.

"She saw her friend die in front of her. Terminus was probably pretty traumatic for her. The kid's been through a lot, Kenny. I'm sure she's just shaken up." Mike said.

"Becca wasn't her friend. She and Clem didn't necessarily get along." Kenny said.

"Even still, Clem has a good heart. I'm sure seeing Becca die that way was still traumatizing no matter how they felt about each other." Mike said.

"You're probably right." Kenny sighed.

"Hey, she'll come around." Mike said, patting Kenny's shoulder.

The group finally made it to the place Gabriel was leading them. "We're here. This was the food bank. It served the whole county. All the cans at my church were gonna end up here." Gabriel said.

"Stay close to us or die." Jane said harshly. Gabriel nodded.

The group entered the building with their guns raised. They moved slowly and carefully. Rick heard the sound of a walker growling and put up his hand to halt them. Rick and Kenny went close to the sound and found a giant hole in the ground. They looked down the hole and saw that the floor below was filled with water and soggy walkers were snarling at them from below. It also had many shelves of food. The smell was awful and everyone had disgusted looks on their faces.

"Shit. The stuff we need is down there." Kenny said while holding his nose.

"If a sewer could puke, this is what it'd smell like." Bob said.

Michonne looked up and saw large holes in the ceiling. "The water's been coming down that hole for a while. Slimed this place up good." She said.

"We can use the shelves to block them." Sasha said.

"Yeah, that's it, Sasha. There's our way. Down those shelves." Rick said. He looked over at Gabriel who was standing back scared. "Hey. I said you're coming with us." Rick said. Gabriel looked terrified but reluctantly followed.

The group moved the shelves in front of them so that the walkers could get stuck behind them. They then started stabbing the walkers in the head as they grasped at them from behind the shelves. Gabriel was nervously standing back but when he spotted one particular walker coming his way, he started to get emotional. The walker had long blonde hair and red glasses. As it got closer, he started it run away but the water up to his waist slowed him down. He tried to climb up the stairs that were next to him but they broke apart and he fell back into the water.

Kenny was still killing the walkers with the rest of the group and spotted Gabriel struggling to get away. "We have to get Gabriel." He said.

"What happened?" Mike asked.

"I don't know." Kenny said.

"All right, we'll push down the shelves on the ones in front of us. We'll fight through and I'll grab him." Rick said. The group got ready to push down the shelves. "Go!" Rick shouted and they all pushed over the shelves onto the walkers, knocking them under the water.

The group started to kill the remaining walkers and Rick fought his way towards Gabriel. The blonde walker was a few feet away from Gabriel and he closed his eyes and accepted his fate. Rick was able to grab the walker at the last second and smashed its head against the wall.

The room was now clear and they now started to look around for the food. Bob was trudging through the water towards a container of food. "Yeah. I know which way it's gonna break." He said as he reached over to grab the container. Suddenly, a walker's arm jetted up from under the water and grabbed Bob's shirt before pulling him underwater.

"Bob!" Sasha shouted as she rushed over to him.

Bob emerged from the water with the soggy walker trying to bite at him as he held it back. Sasha got to Bob and smashed the walker's head with the crate Bob was trying to get.

"You okay? Bob, you okay?" Sasha asked frantically as she caught her breath.

"I'm fine now." Bob said.

The group were now on their way back to the church, carting the many containers of food they got from the food bank.

"I'm sorry." Gabriel said to Rick. "I— I panicked. I told you I—"

"You knew her when she was alive?" Rick asked, referring to the walker that Gabriel was almost killed by. Gabriel just looked at Rick and then looked to the ground. "Yeah, I get it. You only tell your sins to God." Rick said sarcastically.

"What do you think about this Washington thing?" Jane asked Kenny as they pushed their carts.

"Eh, I don't know. That Eugene guy seems to know his shit. So, there's that at least. I'm not putting too much hope into it." Kenny said.

"Him knowing some shit won't matter if he can't actually use what he knows to fix everything. The guy was spouting so much scientific diarrhea in that train car it was like he was just trying to sound smart." Jane said.

"You can read people better than I can. You think he's full of shit?" Kenny asked. Jane looked at Kenny and nodded. "Well, I guess we'll have to wait and see." He said.

"The only thing I can't figure out is why his two friends believe him so much. They protect that guy like he's the fucking president or something." Jane said.

"Maybe they know more about what Eugene knows than we do." Kenny said. "Did he ever tell you guys anything?"

"Not anything interesting. He says it's classified. What a priss." Jane said.

"That is strange. There's no doubt Abraham is going to try to convince us all to go to D.C. with them. We're gonna have to decide if it's worth it." Kenny said.

The group were almost back to the church with the food. Michonne and Rick were pushing a cart together. "Do you miss the sword?" Rick asked.

"Wasn't really mine in the first place. Found it in the very beginning." Michonne said.

"How'd you get so good?" Rick asked.

"It was just me and them out here all day, every day for a good long time." Michonne said. "I don't know what that was, but it wasn't life. Not like today. Stumbling around in the three feet of slime for some peas and carrots, that's living." Michonne said with a chuckle, causing Rick to chuckle also. "I miss Andrea. I miss Hershel. I don't miss what was before. I don't miss that sword." Michonne said.

When the group returned with all the food from the food bank, Kenny found Clementine and Carl on the outside of the church by one of the walls.

"Luke said you were out here. Y'all should come inside. We have food now. A lot of food." Kenny said.

"Good." Carl said.

Kenny noticed them looking at something on the wall. "What is it?" He asked.

"These scratches on the window. They're deep. Like they're from knives." Clementine said.

Kenny was intrigued. He examined the scratches on the window. He saw Rick walking towards them and waved him over.

"You find something?" Rick asked.

"Maybe." Kenny said.

"We found these deep knife scratches. Looks like someone was trying to get in." Carl said, pointing to the scratches.

"We found something else too." Clementine said. She and Carl led Rick and Carl to the next wall of the church.

"We don't know what happened, but whatever it is, we can handle it." Carl said.

On the wooden wall there was some writing carved with a knife that says, 'You'll burn for this'.

"Holy shit." Kenny said.

"Doesn't mean Gabriel is a bad guy for sure, but it means something." Carl said.

Rick put his hand on the wall and looked at the words for a moment. He and Kenny looked at each other. They were now more skeptical of this stranger.

It was now night and, inside the church, the group were having a good time socializing and helping themselves to the food that was brought back. Rick was sitting on the floor playing with Judith in his lap. Kenny was sitting next to him with AJ doing the same.

"I'd like to propose a toast." Abraham announced, getting everyone's attention. The chatter stopped and everyone sat down to hear what he had to say. "I look around this room...and I see survivors. Each and every one of you has earned that title." Abraham said. He raised his glass of wine in the air. "To the survivors." He said.

"Survivors! Cheers!" The group happily called out.

"Is that all you want to be?" Abraham asked. Some of the group looked up attentively upon hearing his question. "Wake up in the morning, fight the undead pricks, forage for food, go to sleep at night with two eyes open, rinse and repeat? 'Cause you can do that. I mean, you got the strength. You got the skill. Thing is, for you people, for what you can do, that's just surrender. Now, we get to Eugene to Washington and he will make the dead die and the living will have this world again. And that is not a bad take away for a little road trip." Abraham said. Some of the group looked at each other unsure. "Eugene, what's in DC?" Abraham asked.

Eugene nervously cleared his throat. "Infrastructure constructed to withstand pandemics even of this fubar means food, fuel, refuge. Restart." Eugene said.

"However this plays out, however long it takes for the reset button to kick in, you can be safe there. Safer than you've been since this whole thing started." Abraham said, specifically looking at Rick and Kenny. "Come with us. Save the world for those little ones. Save it for yourselves. Save it for the people out there…who don't got nothing left to do except survive." Abraham said.

The room was very quiet as people exchanged unsure looks at each other. Kenny and Rick looked at each other and Rick chuckled. Baby Judith and RJ started babbling at each other in excitement. "What was that?" Rick asked playfully, making some of the group laugh. "I think they know what we're about to say." Rick said.

"They're in. If they're in we're in." Kenny said, looking at Rick for confirmation.

"We're in. Let's do it. " Rick said excitedly. The group clapped and cheered in agreement. Abraham smiled and nodded in appreciation. Jane was silently sitting further back from the rest of the group, still unconvinced that Eugene can save the world.

Mike came over and sat down next to Kenny and AJ on the floor. "I never got around to asking, who were those guys you knew at Terminus? You were ready to rip their heads off." Mike said.

"Oh, those fuckers." Kenny said. He gritted his teeth when remembering what happened at the St. John dairy. "In my first group after this whole thing started— the one I was in with Clem, we met these guys and they took us to their farm to get us food in exchange for gas. We were starving by that point."

"I imagine they weren't really friendly then. Only for show." Mike said.

"At first they seemed decent enough. Their mother cooked dinner for us. It was only after my friend, Lee, warned us that we found out they were serving us human meat. Clementine almost ate it but Lee stopped her." Kenny said.

"Holy shit. That's disgusting." Mike said.

"Not only was it human meat, but it was our friend, Mark. He was hurt and was supposed to be getting treatment from them inside the house. The brothers locked us in a meat locker and Danny took my son hostage and later shot me." Kenny said.

"No wonder you reacted that way. And that's what was going on at Terminus, right? Cannibalism?" Mike asked.

"Yeah. Looks like those sick fucks found other sick fucks to do their sick shit with." Kenny said roughly. He looked down at AJ in his arms. "Sorry, buddy. I shouldn't curse like that around you."

"I'm sure he's heard plenty of that by now, Ken." Mike said jokingly. He looked up and saw Bob walking towards the door. "I wonder where Bob's off to." Mike said.

"Probably just getting some fresh air. I probably should too." Kenny said.

On the other side of the room, Tara nervously sat down next to Maggie. There was so much on her mind. So much she wanted to get off her chest.

Maggie smiled at her but noticed something was wrong. "You okay?" She asked.

"Yeah..." Tara said. She paused for a moment. "I was at the prison. With the Governor." Tara said. Maggie looked surprised but not angry. "I didn't know who he was or what he could do. And I didn't know who all of you were. I— I just didn't want it to be hidden. That I was there. " She said.

Maggie looked down, contemplating her response. She looked into Tara's eyes before pulling her into her arms and hugging her tightly. Maggie understood the position Tara was in and didn't blame her for what happened.

Michonne sat down on one of the pews next to Luke, who was eating his food by himself. "Hey." He said to Michonne.

"Hey. Just wanted to check on you." Michonne said.

"Thank you. But I'm fine." Luke said before looking down at the plate in his lap.

"Doesn't seem like it to me." Michonne said softly. She watched him push around the food on his plate with his plastic fork. "Earlier you mentioned your niece. What was her name?" Michonne asked.

Luke sighed. It was clear that it was a hard topic for him to discuss. "Anna. Her name was Anna." Luke said. He looked up at Michonne, "Have you ever failed to protect someone you were meant to protect with your life." He asked.

Michonne hesitated for a moment before nodding her head. "I have." She said.

"It doesn't make sense. I mean, why the hell am I here and not Anna? It ain't right." Luke said.

"I think about that every day. Andre should be here, not me." Michonne said.

"Andre? Who was he?" Luke asked.

Michonne broke eye contact with Luke and looked towards the ground. "My son." Michonne said. She hesitated for a moment before continuing. "He was only two." She said, her voice cracking in emotion.

"I'm very sorry about your son, Michonne." Luke said.

"I'm sorry about your niece." She replied.

Rick walked over to Father Gabriel and sat down on the floor next to him. He held a glass of wine in his hand. "Thanks for the hospitality. I'm surprised you let us drink your communion wine." Rick said, before taking a sip.

"There isn't anyone left to take communion. The wine's just wine until it's blessed." Gabriel said before taking a sip of his own bottle.

Rick remained quiet for a moment before speaking again. "You're hiding something. And it's pretty obvious it's something you can't hide from. That's your business. But these people," Rick continued, "these people are my family. And if what you're hiding somehow hurts them in any way, I'll kill you." He said, looking directly into Gabriel's eyes as he gave the threat.

Outside, Carol had left the church and was starting up an abandoned car. She heard a walker growling before seeing it emerge from the woods. She promptly stabbed it in the head but then heard more rustling in the woods. This time Daryl emerged and Carol looked surprised but relieved.

"What are you doing?" Daryl asked.

Carol heisted for a moment before responding. "I don't know." She said.

Daryl nodded. "Come on, let's head back." He said.

Just as the two of them were about to start walking back, they heard the sound of a car coming closer. They ducked behind the car in front of them and as the car sped passed on the road in front of them, Daryl ran towards the road to look at the passing car and saw the same white cross painted on its back window as the one that took Beth.

Daryl quickly ran back to Carol and started breaking all the head and tail lights of their car.

"Whoa, whoa! What are you doing? What are you doing?!" Carol asked frantically.

"They got Beth!" Daryl said, before breaking the last tail light. "Come on. Get in!" He shouted.

They both got in the car and drove after the mysterious white cross vehicle.

Bob had went outside and was leaning against a tree watching the church and hearing the group socialize. He was smiling at the sound of everyone having a good time but then his smile turned into a sad frown. He looked down in sadness before wandering further into the woods. He leaned onto another tree and started crying hysterically, when suddenly, someone hit him in the back of the head from behind, knocking him out.
